Jamberoo Fan thanks for all the great pics and info!! I am planning to take my kids to the park in January- which I assume is when it will be extremely busy!! Having never visited the park before, I must say that I am looking forward to it very much!! Can you recommend any good hotels to stay at nearby?? How far is it to the park from the city centre of Wollongong??

Thats great news for Magic Mountain I took a school excursion there last year and they only had four cars running, (three after someone crashed one). It was not easy keeping large groups of kids occupied while waiting for their ride.

i had to lol - i had something similar happen to me at Kingston Park Raceway once. Except all but one car was running until the ride op finally got it to start then they put me in it. Not fun when the motor cuts out halfway along the course and i had to pull over to the side to avoid being rearended...

Thanks. There are many good hotels to stay at that are nearby (from 10 minutes away in Kiama to 30 minutes away in Wollongong). I recommend going to this part of Jamberoo Action Park's website: https://www.jamberoo.net/index.php/visitor-information/accommodation . It provides a list of all accommodation in Jamberoo, Kiama, Kangaroo Valley, Shellharbour, Southern Wollongong, and Wollongong that offer deals on entry into Jamberoo Action Park. And as you can see from Gazza's link, Jamberoo Action Park is about 20 minutes south of Wollongong. Anyway, another update: Jamberoo Action Park on Facebook have commented that 'Funnel Web' and 'Banjo's Billabong' will be open by the 26th of January 2013. Jamberoo Action Park have also commented on Facebook that a video of 'Funnel Web''s construction is also currently being filmed by Jamberoo Action Park. Here are some new construction photos of 'Funnel Web' and 'Banjo's Billabong': The tipping bucket of 'Banjo's Billabong' holds 1200 litres of water. The water slides of 'Banjo's Billabong' are well under construction. The adding of the fibreglass sections to the framework of the funnel of 'Funnel Web' is nearing completion. The funnel entry flume of 'Funnel Web' is now being added. 30km/h is the speed the ride reaches at the funnel entry flume. The crane used to add the funnel entry flume to the funnel of 'Funnel Web'. Just to clarify the situation on the opening date of 'Funnel Web' and 'Banjo's Billabong', there is no definite opening date yet. Jamberoo Action Park have indicated on Facebook through comments that 'Funnel Web' and 'Banjo's Billabong' will be open sometime between the 1st of December 2012 and the 26th of January 2013. They have also commented that 'Funnel Web' and 'Banjo's Billabong' will not be opened sometime during November therefore Jamberoo Action Park are only marketing the opening date for 'Funnel Web' and 'Banjo's Billabong' as 'this summer' currently. So the 26th of January 2013 is just currently the most furthest opening date of 'Funnel Web' and 'Banjo's Billabong'. Also, thanks but just to clarify, all the photos and images I posted in this topic were photographed or created by either Jamberoo Action Park, WIN News or Greg Ellis. I did not photograph or create any of the photos and images I posted in this topic. Anyway, another update: Jamberoo Action Park have commented on Facebook that a video of 'Banjo's Billabong''s construction is currently being filmed by Jamberoo Action Park. Also, here are some construction photos of 'Funnel Web' and 'Banjo's Billabong': Theming being placed on 'Banjo's Billabong'. The funnel and funnel entry flume of 'Funnel Web' is now completed. The drop of the funnel entry flume of 'Funnel Web' is 3 storeys in height. The main flume of 'Funnel Web' is now being constructed starting construction from the funnel entry flume of 'Funnel Web' with construction finishing at the start tower of 'Funnel Web'. The 360 degree turn of the main flume of 'Funnel Web' is completed. You can see construction of the funnel exit flume of 'Funnel Web' commencing in the first of these two photographs. Here are some new construction photos of 'Funnel Web' and 'Banjo's Billabong': 'Banjo's Billabong' is nearly completely constructed. Rope bridges and nets are now installed on 'Banjo's Billabong'. The water pumps of 'Funnel Web' which will pump 20,000 litres of water per minute. All water used throughout Jamberoo Action Park is treated to Australian standards and reused throughout the water rides and attractions. Final adjustments being made on 'Funnel Web' which is nearing completion. The outflow flume of 'Funnel Web' being lifted into place. The final piece of 'Funnel Web', which leads into the splash pool, being attached. A conveyor belt will take all of the rafts back to the start tower. All flume sections are now in place including the second (and final) 360 degree turn of 'Funnel Web'. The construction photos are sourced from Jamberoo Action Park's Facebook page.

Agreed GoGoBoy, of the Tornado's that are currently operating in the country, this one looks like it will be the best so far!! It will be interesting to see exactly what configuration Wet 'n"Wild Sydney actually comes up with for it's own example. It will certainly have to be on the money to be as good or better than this one however. Looking forward to this park in the January school holidays.

To be honest, I don't think anything Jamberoo does is going to make WnWS change their plans or layouts. For us, when comparing the two - sure we will be able to state which one is better, but is a slightly longer tornado going to make you head to Jamberoo over WnWS? Not on it's own... for most Sydneysiders, they won't care.

Another update: Jamberoo Action Park have commented on Facebook that an official announcement on the confirmed opening date of 'Funnel Web' and 'Banjo's Billabong' will be made soon. Jamberoo Action Park have though indicated on Facebook through comments that 'Funnel Web' and 'Banjo's Billabong' will be opened sometime between the 8th and 31st of December 2012. Also, here are the latest construction photos of 'Funnel Web', 'Banjo's Billabong' and of some rock wall theming of the overall 'Kangaroo Island' expansion: Construction of 'Funnel Web' is now complete. The rock wall theming of the 'Kangaroo Island' expansion being created over the shotcrete. Finishing touches being put onto 'Banjo's Billabong'. Here are some new construction photos of 'Funnel Web', 'Banjo's Billabong' and of some rock wall theming of the overall 'Kangaroo Island' expansion: Completed rock wall theming of the 'Kangaroo Island' expansion. The pathway to the start tower of 'Funnel Web' has been completed. The viewing platform of 'Funnel Web' is now being built. The overhead concrete walkway to the pathway which leads to the start tower of 'Funnel Web' has been poured. Overall construction of 'Funnel Web' is now concluding. Earthworks are now being prepared for 500 metres of new turf which will be laid next week. The overall 'Banjo's Billabong' and 'Funnel Web' construction site of the 'Kangaroo Island' expansion. Agreed. I've gotta say - these additions are making me think it's almost worth a trek back out there. Haven't been there for years. I'm really pleased NSW is finally getting some decent (or any) waterparks
