Shenanigans at Sydney Royal Easter Show

Featured Replies

Few too many beverages I would say!

I'm sorry but a bunch of adults (who we must presume are either exhibiting animals or carnies) busting into the giant slide and getting fu*cked up, we an only hope whilst pissed has got to be the greatest Australian story there has ever been haha

Just confirmed on news, was pouring rain so they went too fast and slammed into the railings. Ride doesn't operate in rain for that reason (hasnt operated the previous 2 days)

they should have know what happens if plastic gets wet and it very steep!

They went on the slide when it was closed? In that case the soft, inflatable things at the bottom might not have been set up, so they slid all the way down and there was nothing at the bottom to catch them but metal railings. Owch.

Probably depend where the alcohol came from.

If an employer provides/allows drinking at the workplace then workcover will certainly be interested.

I would have thought work cover wouldn't help them in this situation, or are they trying to claim the operator of the slide didn't do enough to fence it off?

I don't think the injured persons are going to claim workers compensation - however under WH&S laws, the attraction is considered a workplace, and injuries were sustained, so workcover typically gets involved as the lead on the investigation. Pretty sure they're also somewhat involved with the green lantern incident as well?

Pretty well anywhere is considered a workplace these days if someone 'works there' so WH&S issues arise. they'll conclude the operator was not at fault - nobody expects people WORKING at the show are going to do crap like this, so the operator's duty of care to secure the ride at that time is probably met.
