Wasn't Rivals built with additional structure for a storm/cyclone rating? This would be the same.

The added structural support does indeed make this look more menacing. That extra support will help in wind etc but also in normal operating conditions. This coaster to my knowledge (happy to be corrected) is going to have some serious pace through the run. So naturally, the structure will sway and flex as the train rattles over.

I cant wait to see this coaster in person.

Giant steel supports generally provide a bit more strength than wooden beams. Hence why this is being massively packed out. It's a lot easier to see where extra bracing has been included when you're talking about a woodie.

I recall them saying (I think with the world's biggest microphone) that additional steel was required for the coaster approval, to allow for storm/cyclone rating. Particularly the support that crosses the road. 

Of course the additional timber would stand out, particularly to enthusiasts. 

The cyclone thing was just a bit of marketing spiel because at the time it genuinely was the only hyper coaster built in a "cyclonic" area.

I dont think it was any additional steel, because US/EU coasters are built to withstand snowstorms, and the weight of piled snow.

 

In terms of the cathedral structure width, seems pretty similar to other M&V / GG woodies imo:

Could also be because it was built on a swamp too

It looks similar in terms of structure with others of its type so I figured the bulky bracing would be because of the actual forces of the ride and not purely the forces of nature.

That was the footprint they used for Sky Flyer, probably be using that same footprint for Trident

Thanks for these photos. Im surprised at the size of the new Atlantis area. I didn't realise how much reclaimed land they took for this new area. I remember back years ago they wanted to make that a "Wild life" area with lots of non ocean animals. Hard to think the corkscrew was in the tiny pocket to the right of the jet rescue and the pirate ship

I’m going to assume it’s an announcement about when Vortex is opening 

Seems odd to post on leviathan to  announce something about Vortex. Maybe we get to see the trains their going to be using or an official POV
