I’m sure the attraction will be fantastically executed and be of a decent quality, I just feel from a theme park as a whole situation, it doesn’t really fit stylistically with the rest of the park in that location. The fact the DC Comics presence is outweighing (even more so) the Movie presence is what I find abysmal. Having said that, it might lead to a potential DC themed Stunt show in the arena I wouldn’t be against.3 points

Please tell me the cleared western area is for something else and they're not making a complete separate superhero area. I thought that was the stuff that Dreamworld does!3 points

I think Sea World has become a better park over the years. I remember as a kid that I never really enjoyed Sea World. Back in the day before you could wait 5 years between trips and it would be the same. The main thing I would change would be the Jet Ski show. SW have done a great job over the years keeping the rides alive considering the environment they are in. You just have to compare The Thunderbolt to the Corkscrew. Most rides have a used by date and I think SW do a great job extending this. I compare it to car ownership. You don’t own 1 car your whole life. Once you start spending more money on a car then it is worth then it is time to buy a new one. I don’t want SW wasting money on an old ride when the money could be spent on a new experience. You have had your fun, you have your memoirs and your photos so it time to move onto a new experiences. Most people won’t like what I’m saying here but I hope the kill the idea of returning the mine kart to DW. Problem with childhood memories is they become cloudy over time. For people who did get a ride it would remember that it was shit. I rode it when it first opened and it was a way better ride before they bastard it. It’s rough, it’s over in a min and nothing really happens. I would much rather see DW put the money into a new ride. For people who still want to experience it then may I suggest you get your buddies to push you around in a shopping trolley. That would be way more fun3 points

so they are going to build a huge loop...right next to gold rush...have they been hanging out with DW?2 points

The DC Movies coming over the next 5 years are plentiful. VRTP certainly have this in mind: 2016: Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Suicide Squad 2017: Wonder Woman Justice League, Part 1 2018: The Flash (Unrelated to the TV show). Aquaman Batman (Affleck) 2019: Shazam Justice League, Part 2 2020: Cyborg Green Lantern Corps Others are rumoured, such as Legion of Super-Heroes and another Superman movie.2 points

...just said that myself. So, they're going to link AA to this area somehow? Walkway around behind SDSC? Maybe the new Coaster is DC Villain andthe station is Show Stage/behind SDSC and leads out to the front of the park as reanimated said last year? Somehow travels over/through AA, SE and JL out to the swamp out front? [EDIT] Ha Ha, I should finish reading threads before posting. AlexB and I have the same thoughts on this. Because all the DC rides at Movie World are comics-based, not movie based. Might start calling it VRDCW now.2 points

I feel like this isn't the most surprising thing to happen. Personally I'm a little disappointed at the DC theme being continued but I do completely understand it from a marketing/theme continuity. Personally I like the idea of 'original' attractions more, things like WWF or Thirteen (Alton Towers). In saying that I would not complain at all if it was Batman themed... Maybe I just don't find DC interesting. Enough thinking out loud. I think it's a nice refresh to an area that was well themed but really underused. MW has been screaming out for more rides to soak up the crowds and if this is high capacity it should do the trick. I really hope they do continue with building a rollercoaster as well. I think they could do something really fun with a Bizarro themed Mega-Lite or something along those lines. Highly unlikely though!2 points

I agree with you Hypermarket Hero. Where are the MOVIE references?2 points

You've got to be fucking kidding me. Are you really relating a theme park attraction to terrorist activity?2 points

This is exactly the same thing that came to my mind. Could be fun as long as it's not a single circuit. Might be completely wrong though. Seems to be the time for them though. Didn't six flags just add a heap of them?2 points

they might as well rename the whole damn park to DC world now!2 points

Could u not just walk up and look under the curtain?2 points

An extended Maurer Söhne SkyLoop occured to me today as well, but there's not that much room for one in the footprint already established for the works.1 point

^Seems a bit out the way really. Why not have it in that patched area next to the lair. Wouldn't that make more sense, or is that path used by staff and any machinery for access into the park? It just wouldn't make sense to have tigers in Ocean Parade. And it's a bit of a crap spot anyway to put something like this. I do hope this isn't true, otherwise DW are going backwards again.1 point

So... Half of MW SuperHeroes, the other half SuperVillains?1 point

Looks like another ride for the thrill seekers and nothing for the families. Don't get me wrong, I am excited for a new ride regardless of its theming. However, it seems the families are forgotten again. With Doomsday and then the Rollercoaster it really looks like nothing is happening for the juniors. Movie DC World are changing their market demographic, which the competition down the road will start cashing in on.1 point

Village Roadshow to open “one of the world’s best” theme park attractions on the Coast so based on the picture provided assuming it's something like that, makes me feel like they fell short on funding and ended up with this ride. Don't think it will be worlds best. (I'm viewing this on my phone so if I have missed some information let me know and will check later )1 point

NEW Tiger Cub Kindy Opening next month will be a new home to our bouncing tiger cubs, Dreamworld's all new 'Tiger Cub Kindy' is one of the cutest up-close experiences the park has ever launched. Specially designed for our next generation of tigers, you can catch the cubs' funny antics daily as they explore, play and wrestle in their purpose-built playground complete with cub-sized pool and guest interaction areas surrounded by glass for easy viewing.1 point

Thanks for saying what we were all thinking? Let's see... the DC cinematic universe is massive, with many iconic characters on film. This will only further develop in the next 5 years. What do u not understand?1 point

One hopes that, with the establishment of a super-villain area, and the existence of a super-villain ride (Arkham) already, that they will eventually link the two areas together with a path, precinct or attraction that stretches from showstage, behind scooby to the Arkham courtyard. The 2017 coaster could potentially do just that... I am glad to see MW investing in what sounds like a good quality flat ride - it's what they've been sorely needing for a while now. I'm mildly disappointed that they've again gone with something DC, and make a quick mental note of how stuffed they're going to be if they ever lose the DC license. I'll reserve judgment of the ride and the theme until such time as I see it actually on site, and see how good the ride is, how well the theme is integrated, and whether the popularity of the character in the upcoming film justifies the theme of an entire ride. these characters are all in movies, or will be soon. What's your point?1 point

I'm simultaneously disappointed yet not exactly surprised by this move. I guess we can only hope that they do this new land to the best of their ability, otherwise, I'm going to lose a lot of faith in VRTP1 point

This sounds abysmal! Unless this is being placed in the middle of Superman as previously planed I am not for this at all! We do not need more of a DC presence on the other side of the park (or at all for that matter)!1 point

Yeah, it's pretty depressing when you can say most parks in SE Qld were better 5, 10 or 15 years ago. I also found it odd that this is just a list of Gold Coast theme parks. For us in the West, it's about as easy to get to USS as it is MW. Plus it's great to nip down the road and ride Abyss whenever we want to.1 point

I'm not making a big deal out of what they've done. I made an observation. The rest of this particular discussion has been revolving around you saying nobody cares, which - firstly - was your own opinion - and then secondly was based on some... gosh i don't know - telepathic survey you conducted whilst in the park? MOST members of the general public who dine at a restaurant who receive bad food or bad service don't stand up in the middle of the restaurant and shout it to everyone else in the restaurant, nor do they go out of their way to find the manager's office to lodge a formal complaint. Most people who have a poor experience simply do not go back. It doesn't mean they don't care. In service industries, word of mouth is huge. This quote relates to sales and customer service, but being in the entertainment and tourism industry, it can broadly be applied to a theme park experience also: I appreciate that you think my view stupid. You are entitled to have your opinion, I just don't agree with it, based on my own experience. I spent many years working in and training people in customer service, both in and outside of theme parks. Just because you don't see the general public complaining about such things, doesn't mean that they don't notice it, and doesn't mean that it doesn't negatively impact on their experience, and doesn't mean that this doesn't then influence what they have to say about the exhibit to others. We talk about it here because it's what we do here - we talk about the parks. Chances are if you somehow engaged most of the general public visiting that exhibit in this discussion, they'd agree with me that it would have been nicer if the park had invested in something nicer looking, and more suited to the exhibit. More often than not, we do pick on the small details... but it is the small details that matter. Disney is as successful as they are because of their attention to detail, and you have only to look at the positive response that Adventure World is getting, both on these boards AND on social media after fixing up the little things to see that it isn't hard to achieve that without a Disney budget. Dreamworld have been doing a lot of late to make their park look fantastic. After all that effort, for them to trot out something that looks like they found it at the local dump shows they dropped the ball. The park should have a couple of these things, done up in generic dreamworld livery on PVC that they can throw up wherever and whenever they need to, instead of torn, faded generic off-the-shelf nylon that looks like shit.1 point

According to the FB page for the GC theatre, their show season changes once every 12 months. The current show (Bloodbath) started in July last year. The one before that (Spiderlash) in July 2014. So we should be able to look forward to a new show in roughly around 4 months' time Pushbutton, I have not done the Fawlty Towers experience first hand, but I have worked at venues that have hosted it. Still remember the night I was working upstairs in the bistro at my last job whilst the show was on downstairs... Looked up when I heard shouting and commotion coming from the entrance to the function room, to see a convincing Manuel lookalike running out at top speed toward front reception, with a Basil Fawlty lookalike hot on his heels, sporting a frying pan held up in the attack position. Needless to say all the people dining upstairs were all looking on in surprise and amusement. Classic ?1 point

yay santa07 i thought i and push were the only ones on the gold coast who like and wont new dark rides1 point

Alright. I can't tell you my source without getting them into a lot of trouble. I can confirm 100% exactly what the park is getting for the area in front of the showstage. If you'd rather keep the surprise til the official announcement, don't click below. Otherwise here you go. The only problem is that it has a very low pph count to it and does require several staff.1 point

Welcome dmh and please respect our hesitation in taking your word 100% as a first time poster here. out of interest, how does a ride have a 88% theming? Where's the other 12%. 88% western, 12% not themed at all?? its a churro tower, but the top of it is missing the sugar?1 point
