  1. +1. This isnt VRTP saving opex this is VRTP dealing with the fallout of installing an unreliable ride. This sounds harsh, but personally I think somebody needs to go for choosing this ride model. Only one other example had ever been built (shouldn't that alone have raised a red flag?) And it was SBNO before DD was even built! Additionally both the Zamperla and Verkoma clones were also duds commercially. VRTP should have gone with the original plan of a windseeker (or similar tower ride) or at least a looping/spinning ride with a demonstrated track record of reliability. Reckon buying the updated Huss Enterprise 2G (where gondolas are replaced with open suspended seats) would have been a better bet. With a relatively small number of comparatively well themed rides VRTP should have reliability/availability as the #1 consideration on their checklist (safety being a given).

  2. The Waikiki Wave Super Flip is not a rip off of a Top Spin. It's a major advancement on the design. The articulating arm greatly increases the range of movements possible over a Top Spin and is a huge feat in engineering.

  3. @XxMrYoshixX It may surprise you to know that many people that visit theme parks are not coaster fanatics but simply individuals or families out for a fun day. They wouldn’t know a Mack or B&M coaster if they fell over them, all they want to do is to have a great day of fun without nit picking various makes & models of the various attractions…. Personally, I found the old Wild Mouse uncomfortable & at times painful to ride. Regardless of what you think & frankly I couldn’t care less , this will be a very popular & welcomed attraction for this park & I applaud them for their ongoing expansion.. If you’re not happy with their selection, I suggest you write them an email & voice your opinion.

  6. I actually answered this in another thread not too long ago. LPS looked at trying to get parts for their Wild Mouse but the cars are completely different and LPS does not have the holding capacity to store any track on site. I agree 100% with your post @DisneyDoll. It is indeed unfortunate that the original Wild Mouse has been removed however this will be a capable replacement and a very popular ride. Aussie World can claim to be the only park in Australia with a permanent Spinning coaster, as well. You are spot on here @DisneyDoll @XxMrYoshixX this is your opinion. I personally believe that the introduction of the Spinning Wild Mouse will be a huge success and a wildy popular ride. I agree that it is no substitute for the original Wild Mouse and that a Mack or Maurer spinner would be the preferred option by theme park enthusiasts. However, everything else you state is just your opinion and not true for everyone and I certainly refute them. I do not think that Reverchon Spinning Mouse coasters are overly rough, boring or even uninspired. This installation will mark the first permanent installation of this ride type in Australia and I think Aussie World are to be commended for swiftly replacing the original with another coaster.

  7. @djrappa People might not know a Mack from a Meisho but they sure as shit notice as soon as they ride something. To say the public doesn't notice the difference between a good quality ride and a bad one just because a ride is a ride is just silly. Your putting words in my mouth, I never said they wouldn't notice the difference between a good quality ride or a bad one. I said that they wouldn't know a Mack or B&M coaster if they fell over them because....they are not into ride manufactures as enthusiasts are. I'm sure as shit ( your words ) that this ride will prove to be very popular at Aussie World regardless.

  14. Dammit! Was so excited that both rides would open back up today :/ ^This! Perhaps not doomsday, but my cynical side just thinks that they are keeping Scooby-Doo closed for that reason.

  15. ^ This. I'm as disappointed as everyone else on this forum, and loved grabbing a ride whenever we took the kids there, but I was always the only one in our group to ride as my boys were a bit short and even once my eldest was tall enough the idea of riding it alone (unlike LPS they only allowed 1 person per car) was a bit intimidating for him. I think the replacement will be well received by families with younger thrill seekers and despite what others have said regarding the GP not being concerned with the capacity of rides, it will make a noticeable difference in this case, and in this current climate of people being a little wary of older rides (don't forget Aussie World have had their own 'incident' in the last year or so) I think most people will just see it as a modernised version and will see it as unique. It will be the only spinning coaster in an Australian theme park (if I'm not mistaken), after all. I'm personally excited about Aussie World's plans. So far we only know 3 of the 7 rides coming in the next 12 months (that's 2 'replacement rides' and 5 new additions, with one obviously being @Gazza's mini drop tower find) so I'm sure they have a couple of surprises up their sleeves.

  16. Bonus points for remembering that it's Hungry Jack's and not Burger King! I'm still willing to get behind the park though. They're easily the friendliest park in South East Queensland, and as much as it's a unique ride, Australia as a whole has so few coasters that everything here is unique, and I don't think you can get much marketing mileage out of a ride that's so small and old. Put it in America or the UK and all of a sudden you've got a more coaster literate population who can appreciate such things, but it's totally wasted here. I'm sad to see it go, but I'm not surprised. The fact they have plans to replace it with a similar ride doesn't do much to soften the blow, but at least they have plans to replace it and grow the park. So long as they're investing in the place and bringing new rides in I totally support them.

  17. Well this is unexpected.. I don't want to sound too synical but given the current state of DW and SW, sadly MW doesn't appear to feel the need to put their best foot forward this Holiday season either? I feel very sorry for the thousands of Holidaymakers about to hit the Coast that will get a pretty ho-hum experience from our Parks this Season? Let's face it, DD could be better but honestly, is right now the time to keep it shut? I think not. Poor form MW. They have had months already to get this Carnival ride going. There really should be no excuses not to have it operating by Boxing Day. I sincerely hope this is an error with the website? The ride has been testing afterall the past week? It all just seems so awfully inconvenient to have it return to Operation once the Holidays have finished. What. The. Fuck..
