Guest Services contacted me yesterday regarding my complaint. They advised that during it's recent downtime, there were a number of issues surrounding the Ghost Train section of the ride. One thing lead to another and given the ride's age of 15 years, these things couldn't wait any longer and needed to be addressed by way of removing everything and starting all over again with a clean slate. The time frame would only allow for removing everything and unfortunately not the dark ride scenes. A fairly last minute decision was to reopen the ride for the school holidays to help with crowd capacity and give people the opportunity to experience the roller-coaster. The ride will remain open in it's current form until the Crowd levels subside. My guess until the end of January. They added that they understand how immensely popular with visitors and it's for this reason that it get's the chance for a new lease on life. I really hope this is true because Scooby-Doo is still a very marketable and valuable franchise to the MW brand. I gave my feedback to GS to pass on regarding the lack of communication to Park goers and that a clear expectation needs to be set for would-be riders (including foreign visitors) so they know and understand what to expect, especially after waiting two+ hours... yikes! I asked for Ride Attendants to be more vocal about this which they said they would pass on. After reviewing the opinions of all and speaking to them directly, I'm willing to give MW the benefit of the doubt and look forward to seeing an improved rebuild of the ride using today's show technology.3 points

I went to AW today from 2pm to 7pm. Cirque Extreme is a great crowd absorber as the carparks were full but the park didn't seem full when i entered, went on some slides and the lines were really short. Then at about 2:45pm saw the crowd piling out of the tent and the park felt busier. Went to the 4pm show, nothing much i can add to iwerks review... the show is great. I recommend getting to the tent approx 15-20 minutes before show time to guarantee you a spot not only in the queue inside the tent but also to the show itself ! the show had very few spare seats and a heap of people had to queue outside in the sun (not that it was too hot today) After the show nothing in the park was more than a 10 minute wait and that was Kraken. After about 45 minutes everything was a walk on including Abyss which we did a few times right at the end. Still feeling the effects lol. Park is in great condition.1 point

I'm pretty sure those handles and the buttons were there when MW first bought the trains in 2012. I haven't been to MW for years, so I can't remember exactly, but I do vividly recall those handles being there.1 point

I think you are supposed to hold the harness anyway, but, no, there is nothing linked with the harness release buttons when I rode it.1 point

For those, curious, it's on Movie World's Facebook page (yet strangely it's not on their YouTube page?) Bloody great little TVC. End shot where the hero female breaks the fourth wall is super cringeworthy, but sans that tiny detail, I do really dig the look and feel of it all.1 point

Just a few thoughts on my visit the other day. Apparently Kraken has new rafts that require at least three people to be onboard. The queue was very small to start with, but was about half an hour for most of the day. Inferno was great fun. They used the count down to start with and then shot or dropped whenever they felt like. I think they did two shots, a drop and then a quick shot. The young guy running it was really good. The countdown is done by the man who does the voice over for Abyss. The Tunnel of Terror now has a camera for the final splashdown. The screens are located outside of the water mountain area (which looks great with its Wild West theming). The Bucanneer Battle boats have new buttons which sometimes get stuck. Sometimes the engines get stuck on or off, as do the water shooters. Had a long run early on, when no one else turned up, so they let us keep going. The Grand Prix had a fairly long queue all day, sometimes with a long fast pass queue too. Got in line at one stage, but it didn't move, so we got out. The cabana was great to relax in. Had a healthy Mark Shaw Caesar Salad for lunch and churros in the afternoon. The Kahuna Falls Cafe closed around 5.35, so I didn't get to have dinner in the park. There's a great little coffee hut next to the main pool now. It was about 32 degrees max, compared to about 38 last year. The main lawn was quite busy, but the new lawn, where the lake was, was pretty quiet. Also used the new members' car park, which was quite convenient, and the new gate was open by 9.45am with no queue at all to get in. Although the new car park is grassed, there were good sized parking bays marked clearly there.1 point

Today's update. I could see a number of things through the windows inside the store, and there are three big yellow blocks hanging from the ceiling1 point

Managed to get a ride on it earlier in the day. I'll share a few thoughts. First thing to say is the queue is untouched, so guess the foam can't be that dangerous right? The station is still the same, except that instead of seeing Scooby in armour from the queue, there is nothing. There's not much to say for the ride. It's as bad as you'd think it is. Nothing to see at all in the dark ride section. In fact there are 2 themeing elements left; the swinging blades (they aren't lit but we're randomyl swinging) and the random Spider in the disco room. Of all things to leave, the spider? Really? Ring of Fire room is just an empty room with a random blue light pointing at nothing. All the themeing has been removed all the way to the unload station, but the themeing at the station has been left untouched. Overall, pretty awful. The closet to nice things I can say is; it's darker than it looks in photos, the reality isn't quite as bad as the photos suggest, but it's not exactly much better. It's also a refreshing change for Village to have a preference for a ride being open, but it looks bloody sad. It's sad seeing the ride as is, if it were me I'd fog the shit out of the dark ride and add some strobes in ala the freezer/film vault mazes that get around as a desperate measure to get through the school holidays then close it to get new themeing in. Ring of Fire room could also do with having anything put in it, and plywood walls with lanterns installed between that room and the unload station. That is the stuff they can do NOW to lessen the shitness, before fixing it properly. A Scooby Doo figure wouldn't go astray either. I like to think the plan isn't to leave it like that, but I'm not optimistic.1 point

I have been told from someone that it will be replaced with Scooby theming to get it up to fire code and that the theming is being made now.1 point

I don't think I can buy that as an excuse. It's not like Movie World presents itself as some carnival. The niche it's carved for itself is Australia's best themed park with the best intellectual property and quality execution. That's what they want to be. You can't take your best executed ride and butcher it because all of a sudden you've decided something that you've known about for years is a problem. I think a lot of people knew that they'd decided to remove the themeing, but I'm shocked that they decided to not even try to make it look good. Even when Wild West Falls caught fire they put SOME effort into getting it back to scratch. Someone go get some plywood walls from storage and put something in there even if it takes a couple of weeks.1 point

Please, let this not be Movie World's "jumping the shark" moment. So let's be clear, Dreamworld is combing through every millimetre of every ride, being very open and transparent and yet are getting their arses handed to them for a sharp edge on a Flowrider mat, meanwhile Scooby Doo is almost completely gutted, there's no park communication why they've completely changed the ride experience in any way (which would come as a rude shock if you've waited an hour to jump on) and now they're just pretending people will be sweet and won't notice the difference? I'm so completely confused on this one. This is some weird "she'll be right, mate" mentality coming from a park that prides itself on trying to match its global brethren in terms of quality. This is a tough thing to write, because I want to be positive, but it's really tough not to be critical when you appear to be holding a lot of contempt for your customers. If they said "we're redeveloping our ride experience, please excuse our mess" on a sign, or told the greeter to say it, I think it'd almost be okay. But to bury your head in a sand is a recipe for disaster.1 point

If Disneyland closed down pirates of the Caribbean and re-opened it as a ride through a warehouse it wouldn't be 'Great of the park to get the ride open for peak season'. Having the ride look like that can only be called an utter disgrace.1 point

Yep that's about the worst thing I've ever seen. I'm surprised they're allowed to keep their Warner Brothers licensing with a ride looking like that1 point

Disclaimer: These photos were sent to me. I am not at the park today and do not endorse people taking loose items on rides. Please adhere to VRTP's policies.1 point

The Waikiki Wave Super Flip is not a rip off of a Top Spin. It's a major advancement on the design. The articulating arm greatly increases the range of movements possible over a Top Spin and is a huge feat in engineering.1 point

I don't know why they haven't brought me in to be honest, I'm doing all the right things; relentlessly criticising the park in an online forum is the best way to get ahead right? Haha1 point

Ask and you shall receive. My friend apologises for the aliens tardiness, like most theme park guests he'd lose his brain if it wasn't screwed on, and it's not hence the detached state,1 point

I've been looking through this chat and all I can see is people saying, "They are making terrible decisions" and things similar to that. Not to sound rude or anything but they probably know what they are doing, and they know better than you do. Im actually excited to see what comes out of this. Anyone else with me?-1 points
