**apologies for the bad font changes... formatting not copying well from the page...** MOVIE World’s next big attraction is on track for a September launch date, right in time for the school holidays. Large-scale ground works are well under way at the Oxenford theme park to create a series of new attractions, including a new roller-coaster and $35-million golf facility. Foundations have now been laid for what is believed to be the roller-coaster, a 200-foot tall ‘hyper coaster’, while land has been cleared for the golfing attraction, Bunting placed on fencing around the construction site over the Christmas tourism season announced September as the opening date, with the Topgolf attraction expected to be the first to take customers. A Village Roadshow spokesman yesterday said the company “looked forward to making an announcement. The Topgolf attraction, the first of its kind in Australia, will take up 6ha of land in the south of the park neat the Outback Spectacular. It will feature golf games for all ages and skill levels along with a chef-driven menu, drinks, big-screen TVs and music held in climate-controlled suites. Park bosses expect it to welcome more than 500,000 people annuall The roller-coaster is expected to follow soon after, with parts for what will become the track already spotted arriving at the theme park. The 60m high thrill ride will become the Gold Coast’s tallest attraction and will be built by German-based manufacturer Mack Rides. The September opening date was welcomed by Gold Coast Tourism chairman Paul Donovan who said it was the time ahead of school holidays “We have already seen what happens when new attractions come online in theme parks and it certainly bolsters visitations,” he said, speaking to the Bulletin from Singapore “September is a great time for new attractions to open because there will be the school holidays and by then we will be six months out from the Commonwealth Games. “Everything we will have been working on will have come to fruition.” It comes as planning continues on a new 731 car space carpark for Movie World. Public consultation on the project, earmarked for a site on Michigan Drive ended in January and it is expected to go before the Gold Coast City Council’s planning committee for approval within weeks. More than 100 submissions were received from residents. Movie World is also understood to be proceeding with plans for a proposed hotel and waterside precinct on the site of the existing carpark. The nine-story boutique project has already been granted building approval and the Bulletin understands Village Roadshow is searching for an accommodation provider to partner with it on the development. source: GC Bulletin http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/movie-worlds-next-big-attraction-to-open-to-the-public-in-september/news-story/87326f600e8180b6aba8e1499d31c97a3 points

Who or what is Sandy Shores Lagoon? I assume this is an educational presentation at the front of the park where the grass hill is. If that's what it is I actually think it's a really good idea. I hope it's a success and they follow it up with an educational show in the Sea Lion Stadium between the 'comedy' shows. (hell you could even merge it with this one and do a combined Dolphin/Sea Lion educational show. Sea World used to do these types of shows years ago and I don't think it's a bad idea to bring them back, particularly in a climate where Sea World (and Zoos more broadly) are trying to find their role in modern society. I passionately believe that role is to get people interested in animals, and then to educate people about animals to hopefully grow a passion for animals and conservation. The way I see it, Affinity gets them interested, this show educates. As a side note, I hope in this show they are able to get their message out about how they treat the animals, and how they are cared for, because they have a good story to tell and it's such a shame to me that Affinity doesn't really do anything to talk about it. Actually Affinity doesn't do much to talk about the connection between the trainers and the dolphins at all really. It's kind of just a 'Let's try and use this word randomly' kind of show. But yeah good move, I hope it works. EDIT: One more thing; what's with the name? The show is called 'Our World of the Dolphin presentation'. When I read the blurb first time I kind of read it thinking the show was called 'World of the Dolphin' and the rest was just them saying 'come see our 'World of the Dolphin' presentation. But no, the whole title is 'Our World of the Dolphin presentation'. Just such a needlessly awkward title to me.2 points

You should really play RE7 its pretty good, although I don't see how just watching a trailer could prove that its just a zombie game, in fact there isn't a single zombie in it at all, but you could argue that they look like zombies they act more like deadites from the evil dead franchise. But with all the other creepy stuff and with the family I don't see why they couldn't make it more unique then just another 'generic' zombie maze. You can't generalise a series because of its name, it can have the same name but not the same story line in some cases. RE7 is more of a reboot it has little to nothing to do with any of the old games, I've played them and they don't even feel like the same game although I'm not too sure about that sorta stuff so correct me if I'm wrong, but don't forget evil within never had generic zombies they did spice em up a little.2 points

I will be, because at present that's exactly what it's used for. In saying that, I also have no doubt what expansions will probably occur in this space as it's a) right near the train station b)facilities are already in place and c) there's plenty of land behind it to expand into.2 points

Get to know some of the beautiful dolphins that call Sea World home with the new daily, Our World of the Dolphin presentation at Sandy Shores Lagoon. Learn about these incredible mammals and the environment they call home, as well as Sea World’s ongoing rescue and rehabilitation activities. Conservation, education and research are core values of everything we do at Sea World and we hope together we can actively support and protect the world of the dolphin and their precious ocean home. Our World of the Dolphin Presentation time: 12.30pm daily at Sandy Shores Lagoon1 point

Rodney totally wasn't from Tasmania by the end though right? I swear he was Tasmanian because homosexuality was still banned in Tasmania until 1997. At one point during the show after Rodney was just coping all the shit from the Sarg, Rodney kissed him, prompting the response 'I thought that was illegal in Tasmania?'1 point

I'm all in for a token Tassie fall out guy. Some of the best parts of these shows happen out of the water.1 point

Dec 2016 Villains Unleashed Area - Review: I visited the new Villains Unleashed area in early December last year. Unfortunately Doomsday was down for maintenance, but I'll hopefully get a ride when I visit again in March. My thoughts on the area: it is very well done, and makes great use of a previously underutilised space of the park. The character statues are of fantastic quality, especially the doomsday character smashing through the ride signage - the level of detail here is impressive. This is now my favourite ride sign/entrance sign of any flat ride in Australia. I love how the doomsday lettering looks like it's ripped straight out of a comic book. Their are little details throughout the whole area - in the signage and buildings - that will probably only make sense to serious DC fans (which I am not). That just shows how deep they have gone with the theming and research into the IP used. I'm not a fan of the pay-to-play system for the games. IMO they should be free to use, as the games are interesting, but nothing memorable. I liked the practical effect games, better than the screen based ones, e.g. The Killer Kroc interactive water fountain and Joker's 'test your strength' game. If they were all practical effect games I would see the $15 wristband price a good deal.....but atm I'd rather spend it on some lunch at Dirty Harry's. This is just my opinion - and I'm sure I'm not the target market for these game experiences. My only big complaint of the area, is it's location in the park. It's kinda just been plonked in between scooby and wild west falls. It doesn't make sense. This area should have been used to further expand the wild west area, or develop a Mad Max themed area/ride. The villains unleashed area should have been built in the Arkham Courtyard. Thematically and story-wise, it would have made so much more sense - 'The Joker has set loose Arkham Asylum's biggest and baddest villains. Join them in their plot to destroy the asylum and ride the Doomsday Destroyer - a monstorous looping ride'. This could have seen the re-opening of the chinatown alley for improved guest flow - with arkham asylum themeing and characters placed throughout the courtyard as well. Furthermore, it would have solidified the front section of the park as 'DC Comics plaza'. Overall though it's a great family area, with a good filler family thrill ride to suit - which I looking forward to riding in March. Props to the design, engineering and build team at Movieworld. From what I understand, this area was designed in-house. Keep up the great work, and can't wait to see what themeing is in store for the new hyper coaster!1 point

^You do make a good point there. Maybe have the JetSki show at lunch, but then have a major show at 4. I think, that despite the Pirate show they had a few years back, not being the best, a stunt show would be great. I'm thinking like Water World, but it doesn't have to be on that type of scale. You could have structures built on the island, and zip lines to the mainland, and create a good story, with fire and water effects. And have those few seats at the bottom where people may get wet. The Waterworld show is the best stunt show I've seen, and bringing something like that back would be great.1 point

Well in order to be the tallest attraction on the gold coast it'd have to be taller than the Tower of Terror/Giant Drop, I was just making reference to the hyperbole in that comment. I suppose if its 60m above ground and continues 60m below ground it would technically be a strata coaster?1 point

I'm getting called out because of my up/down voting preferences? A forum is for personal opinions isn't it? My personal opinion, of which is none of anyone's business... If you're going to all offended and keyboard warrior about it I'll just leave, mainly due to the silliness of it.1 point

In that text he said something about a replacement Of The Thunder River Rapids and that might mean that either the vintage cars could be moved again and a Another new ride Gose To where the vintages cars was or the Thunder River Rapids might have a brand new ride Replacing it And that also might be why the Rocky Hollow Log Ride is closed there probably putting in a new Log Ride with the stage 2 corroboree1 point

^Might also be as mental as putting in for holidays with dates subject to opening of MW’s new coaster.1 point

I definitely area with you on this one Alex. They could even just have a few A-stands in and around the Villains area advertising the bands, so you can interact with the area. While I was walking around the area a couple of times this morning, never saw anyone with a band using them, instead they were just having photos with them. Maybe they could even try to sell them at the admission booths.1 point

I'm about 6 foot flat, and had my first (and second - walkon) rides on Doomsday today. Whilst I didn't notice any varied height limits, my first ride was on the red row west, and I did have to do a little contortion to get under the harness and into the seat. I've also found it to be incredibly difficult to undo one side of the two-button seatbelt at the end of the ride. Anyone else noticed this? I didn't find the ride to be shaky. It was quite an enjoyable ride and I reckon I could re-ride it for quite some time. The harness is comfortable, yet secure. I did find the internal seats to be a little close together in terms of leg space with the person opposite, but the motion of the ride takes care of that most of the time. End seats (brown at least) were far more enjoyable than the middle rows. I'd love to see a longer, or a more intense, or faster (speed, not time) cycle, but i'm happy with it as a mid-level thrill. I think the biggest problem is that the ride appearance is intimidating to some, and probably puts a number of people off riding it.The missus is usually up for trying anything once, and whilst she hates centrifuges (won't ever do a gravitron or enterprise style attraction) or a marble coaster, she usually will try anything once - except this. except today. She's decided she might give it a go next time though - so there's that. Overall the area is fantastic, although i'd like to see more prominent information about the interactive elements, as a lot of people were wandering around, bashing the hammer and posing for photos, but I didn't see anyone actually activate any of those elements. It was only that I knew of the wristbands and where to find them that I even remembered to look for them in the shop. Overall I think they've missed the mark on those wristbands, and aren't marketing them as well as they should. Most of the elements didn't jump out as 'if you spend $15 you can make this thing do stuff', and overall it just appeared as 'here's some nice things to take photos of' - disappointing.1 point

I agree, I think they just got it wrong. If track had arrived, I would be typing this on page 200 lol. Hopefully there'll be some good sun today on the site today to help the grass grow nice and tall.0 points

Wow.. are we the top google search for RE7 forum? 2 new members join today and both of them have a first post about Resident Evil and disagreeing with me 'generaling' the zombie/dead thing genre..0 points

I can't say for SW because I honestly don't know however both MW and DW have had many days over the years significantly exceeding 10000 visitors during busy holiday periods. I am only aware of one occasion when MW closed it's doors refusing more guests after hitting over 12000 visitors. That was in their first Xmas of 1991 and the conditions (in particular the staff working at the time) were horrendous!-1 points

Damn it, you got me... no I haven't played RE7. Though I have played every iteration prior. i have seen a gameplay trailer and there looked like standard zombies to me... the thing with a property like RE is that if you fork out the $$ for the rights, you would need to draw from the entire series to do justice to it. You also would need to use 'generic' zombies/victims to simplify the costume/makeup requirements, just as they have in every other licensed property used before-1 points
