Took these this afternoon at DW after being tipped off by a member here (not sure if they want to be identified, please feel free to speak up - you know who you are 😆👍) but it appears that some early removal work may have finally begun on Eureka Mountain? Really not sure what the go is, but will be keeping a close eye on this spot over coming weeks to see if anything further eventuates...12 points

The demolishing of the water slides has finally started. The question to be answered is why have they fenced off the car park????????? Thank your TPSN for the photos.8 points

So here's a thought for everyone to take away... I'm sure as enthusiasts everyone would love the park to embrace the community and involve them in the coaster construction/launch. Someone at the park has the same thought so stops on by to have a read of what people have to say. They read all this absolute nonsense, come to their senses and never have the crazy thought of reaching out to theme park psyco nerds again... Now imagine if we had a sensible, high quality on topic discussion about what's actually being constructed to read instead...5 points

Harley Quinn wouldn't be the most awful option. I mean who the fuck is Doomsday? She's only a relatively new character, being made for the Batman animated series, which I never watched, so hadn't even heard of her till a couple of years ago. Surprisingly for a something made for the cartoon she's actually a really interesting well conceived character, with this tragic abusive twisted love story with the Joker, although to the casual observer Harley Quinn is 'Sexy Joker' which seems to be a popular enough concept that has assured she is well known. Obviously in the awful bloated mess of a movie that was Suicide Squad, the interesting chemistry and backstory was rushed and all over the place, but even then Harley Quinn was the one element a lot of people seemed to like. There is a well known rumor that the ride was supposed to be themed to Suicide Squad at one point but they changed their minds because it was an unpalatable theme after last year. Creatively it would have been an awful idea anyway, why anyone thought that adding a ride themed to an outdated abomination of a film starring villains outside the brand spanking new Villains themed area would be a good move is, and always will be, a total mystery to me. It's a ride that should have always been themed to one of the big DC heros, with Flash, Wonder Woman or Jason Mona's Aquaman being very obvious and good choices. Now it's the wrong colour for them, (no one cares about a comic where Wonder Woman wore pink, if you make a Magenta Wonder Woman coaster it'll need a better explanation than that to keep the feminists happy) so what to call Australia's best coaster that happens to be magenta? Could do much worse than Harley Quinn, even if she is a villain in a hero area and is represented in Arkham Asylum.3 points

Those are pretty rubbish discounts though. At Dreamworld the 10% discount applies to what I want it to apply it to, not one product at one outlet. Ditto with the one retail product. I wouldn't call it a discount on F&B personally, even though TECHNICALLY it is.2 points

So were you behind the stupid track photo too or just thought you were funny?2 points

They should build an RMC over the top of it and call it a day!2 points

Yeah, I have to agree that they do seem to be having issues with it... was closed when we went on Friday as well, with a staff member posted at the entrance. Today it was just closed altogether I must say though, on the flipside of its closure, the park has been pleasantly peaceful.... 😛2 points

Remember when Sea World was landlocked and they had to reclaim land to put stuff in?2 points

Read the reviews about the closed attractions around the park. Having that left up definitely added to the poor guest satisfaction over the past however long its been, and its appalling that it took so long.2 points

As I've stated before, the family man in me loves DW - the attractions, staff and layout make it it more family friendly to me whilst the thrill seeker in me selects MW. If DW could just add a family/thrill ride, we could have the best of both worlds in one park. I loved TRR but understand that it couldn't remain open - but that ride or something along those lines is what DW needs - an exciting ride that the whole family can enjoy. Not necessarily heart pumping, but enough to give you a "fizzy feeling" (ala James May) and not make you apprehensive about riding it.2 points

This could almost be its own thread but I don't think either Village or Dreamworld have better or worse staff. The difference to me is 2 things, Dreamworld are treating their staff incredibly well at the moment and have been even since before October and that good treatment filters through to the guests, . Village also ask their staff to do good service but doesn't empower them to do so, and instead asks them to enforce customer unfriendly polices like charging for sauce, charging for ride lockers, making people sit in exactly the right place for the parade. When you have enough unpleasant interactions with the public it will stop you from wanting to go above and beyond2 points

Dates have been announced for this years Stormtroopers weekend. Great to see it return once again1 point

Well Storm went through it's maintenance in February during that massive heat wave so luckily it's ready for winter!1 point

OK, so I've done some digging this evening and managed to find out some more info in regards to what the hole in the Mountain is about. If it's true, it's not as exciting as initially thought, which is a bit of a bummer! 😕 Ive been told it's aftermath of damage done by ex-TC Debbie when she paid a visit last month. I hadn't actually noticed it until now, when @Twilight Zone messaged me and brought it to my attention as apparent evidence of early removal work. I'm sorry for the false alarm, but yeah... the only demolition work done here was by some serious rain and gusts of wind lol. That all said, I still think it's a worthwhile topic of discussion... it will be interesting to see if they bother to patch the hole up or not. I think this will be a big indication as to whether they intend to keep or scrap the mountain in future? Esp since they recently added that new door frame, as per @Skeeta's post above 😮1 point

I personally don't classify photos as merch. Merch is things you buy from the stores. Photos are an extension or add on to a ride imo. Id also say with a decent amount of confidence that photographics would be a different line to merch on VTP's P&L. yes, a burger is food, but it's one option in the park amongst many others. I'd generalise to say you don't get a discount on food as well given it's only available on one option. DW gives pass holders discount to food, everywhere.1 point

As someone who has watched the series, that costume is never warn. That's photoshopped1 point

Makes sense to go through most of winter with zero thrill rides that don't leave you soaking wet...1 point

I worked in selling all 3 memberships right from when they were introduced and you 100% do get in-park discounts.1 point

It does. Hard cards require special machinery to print. The 'laminated' cards are a specialised sheet of paper that can be run through a standard laser printer.1 point

@Theme Park Girl this is the new design. It's very nice to actually have a plastic card, unlike VRTP laminted paper1 point

If i had to take a guess I'd say its around the 28 metre mark, which means its still smaller then superman, arkman asylum and green lantern.1 point

If I was MW and all of sudden decided Suicide Squad didn't work, and the colours didn't work for any other major DC Comic characters like Flash, Aquaman or Wonder Woman then I would have opted for a generic movie theme aka Hollywood Dream at Universal Studios Japan.1 point
-
I'd guess more likely they're removing some or all of it to clear up the image of that area and make room for the memorial and replacement. Probably a good time for it if they're removing the rapids anyway.1 point
-
Long shot here, but could that mean the park also has other plans now for perhaps a new attraction in that area?1 point

It was only the other week the door trim change was picked up. The way the mountain has been cut into and left exposed should now stop any asbestos being in the mountain talk.1 point

Calm down @joz. Suicide Squad wasn't THAT bad... i mean it's not gonna win any oscars, but it's an decent mindless popcorn flick with far too many characters and ideas packed into it. (It did win an oscar, but we'll overlook that haha). Dont see it being Harley themed though. Her Classic comic costume is black/white/red. Her suicide squad costume is red/blue/white. There's no magenta in her character at all.1 point

Right, well I've had a Premier membership since day one, so hopefully I can answer that... unfortunately there's no in-park food & bev or merch discounts with memberships, you just recieve a monthly email which offers discounts on their upcharge experiences (dolphin swims, AOS, shark Bay encounters etc) instead. Otherwise the other benefits have involved 'first in' opportunities for new rides and attractions - the polar bear cubs viewing is the latest one that has been offered. Sometimes they offer early entry into the parks on set days during peak periods. And they do occasionally offer stuff like kids workshops and a one-off entry to additional animal shows at Sea World prior to the park opening. That's pretty much the benefits in a nutshell that I can think of off the top of my head. ETA: the above is across all membership levels I believe. Obviously the next two tiered ones have extra features at an extra cost per month (Premier = 1x entry to every special event night season, Elite =all of the above + unlimited entry to WNW Sydney) but yeah, that's typically what you're looking at for the price and pay per month ☺️👍1 point

Lmao it wasn't based off gender. it was based off the comics she gets a Pink Lantern ring. But its also a far reach for the coaster. Because I doubt they would do it. So of all the main DC characters (the JLA) she's the closest, yet also the farthest.1 point

In addition to all the comments above this post... do you really believe MW's marketing team are capable of giving us hints? They've proven otherwise so far1 point

There's another huge factor at play as well... cost cutting. Seems to be a big thing for VRTP in recent years when it comes to staff wages. Instead of keeping on employees that actually demonstrate enthusiasm to want to keep working there, have years of customer service experience, smile a lot and do a great job, that's unfortunately not what their criteria is for deciding who stays and who goes after school holiday periods. It essentially comes down to the cheapest now, which are typically juniors and school based trainees. Was told on good authority that all three parks had their biggest cull yet this year, with only a very small number of contracts extended past Christmas. Thr majority of them were apparently either or both of the above 😑👎1 point

I bought that pink supergirl Cape for my daughter about 2-3 years ago lol. It's not new, so seriously doubt it would be related to the new coaster.....1 point

The fact the merch team have decided to allocate non-relative colours to superheroes in order to sell capes with logos isn't the point of my comment. They are not going to design a magenta colour Coaster and say "well it's a supergirl Coaster of course, we sell capes in that colour!" I still stand by it being a superman cape in pink to be attractive to young girls. Supergirl wears zero pink, and every other cape (even those of superheroes that don't wear capes) is relative to the colour of their costume. Anyways, it has nothing to do with the coaster, let's agree on that!1 point

Few follow up shots just now. Another piece installed. Also not the angle of the support to turn back over that dive. The angle is almost 90 degs and will create and awesome head chop!1 point

Glad to see an agreement was reached and this event can be held at Dreamworld. I accidentally stumbled upon this event last year and it was awesome to see especially because I love Star Wars. I'll definitely be going again this year.1 point

The park is apparently going to be open till 9pm during the weekend1 point

Super girl has had a pink costume before0 points

I very much doubt I'd go to any of the parks if they charged per ride. That, in my opinion, is not a theme park. Thankfully I can't see that happening here.-1 points

And as said, it is a superman cape for girls. I've always thought that. It is a lot more appealing to most girls, rather than the standard cape.-1 points
