  1. There's a tiny bit of footage in the update I just whacked together, but it's honestly fine. @Richard will write something a little more in-depth about it later today, but let's keep in mind this is still Mack's coaster, not Movie World's (yet), and until its handed over, and given the fact that the mounting points were hiding in plain sight, the most logical and likely solution is that it's now being refined to the intended experience & design they want. From what i've seen, the time of day and the warmth of the bogeys plays more of a part in speed and experience anyway. TLDR, it's far wiser to make sure the train definitely makes it through the course and refine the speed to optimise the experience than to build it without tolerances & have a train not come back at all in the first place.
  2. Got it. Add LIMs to make it faster. 👌👍
  3. Trim brakes installed on DC Rivals HyperCoaster as testing continues As opening day nears, fans may have been dismayed to see brakes installed along the course of the record breaking roller coaster, but really trim brakes are only about ensuring that the ride operates as intended. 4. Since magnetic brakes can be engineered so precisely for speed control I've been pondering the thought whether sometimes trims don't even slow the train at all, i.e. if the train's speed does not exceed the calibration of the trim. In that vein instillation of trims could be used as more of a preventative measure rather than a 'fix' for mismatch between simulated and actual performance. With what I've heard of Mack coasters getting faster as they warm up it would make sense that the engineers may have to design for a considerable variance in speed across different running conditions. Best case for Rivals is that the trims may be there as a precaution for warmer weather / heavy train loads / other variables that could result in faster than normal runs. Should be easy enough to tell in videos / person since heavy magnetic braking has quite a distinct noise.
  5. Cue the theme park nerd frenzy who read just the title and not the whole article in 3,2...
  6. Honestly this looks better than Flash. I haven't seen a proper POV of this of course, but Flash looks really sluggish. One or two massive airtime hills are great, but Flash has a bunch and most of them are trimmed, which brings it into B&M hyper territory. And I'd take a NI loop over a normal loop any day (unless it's a really intense loop, but Flash's isn't). I love my sensation of speed and low to the ground twists and turns, so I'm really looking forward to this ride because it's full of that. I would agree that Helix is probably still going to be a better ride than this, but to me this could very well be Mack's second best coaster.
  7. I agree, just watched it do about three or four test runs this morning and the last half of the ride looks so sluggish. Hardly looks like much airtime in those last few airtime hills before the brakes now. 🙁
  8. Part 2: Plopsaland Plopsaland opened my 2017 season and I discovered the park last April not in the best circumstances. The weather was rainy then, and I happened to visit a certain place called Phantasialand the day after. With the park not being too far from Efteling I thought why not trying it again? Night opening was also a lure - although that did not end up according to my plans... The summer sky really improves the look of the entrance plaza! Love the cartoonish facade. The farm section of Plopsa is quite an odd fit for an amusement park, but I actually don't mind! I find it amusing more than anything else. The nearby Circus zone does feel tacky though - not up to the park's standards. After a lot of wandering and camera stuff, I entered the queue for Heidi the Ride. The wait time wasn't indicated, but I ended up riding the little GCI an hour after my first steps into the queue. I was now thinking I should have arrived earlier at the park and not rest so much from the tiring 12 hour Efteling day... The actual ride was good fun. Not worth an hour wait, but delivering nice speed and a lot of little humps - although few of them actually deliver real airtime. Front row ride certainly helped a lot too! Vleermuis is the type of odd wonky ride that RCT3 made me discover. Finally rode it after it spited me last April. Painful braking and rattly trackwork downgrade an otherwise dull experience. Still, I can't help but feel the park should keep this fairly unique coaster (is it considered one or two credits anyway?) for the curiosity. Anubis was another hour queue. The layout started out so well, with a really good launch followed by a very fun airtime moment. It rattles at the start of the Top Hat, but the discomfort was negligible since I sat at the front. However it all went downhill from there. The Dive Loop was fine, but everything after that either was dull, uncomfortable or both! The girl sitting next to me added to my misery with her loud and very high-pitched screams The slow operations on Rox-Flyer, increased my frustrations even further. The employee, who was cheerful and decent tbf, significantly delayed each dispatch by walking across the platform to give us riding procedures in French, English and Dutch. I am usually very supportive for multilinguism, but that was a case where it felt really uneffective. This local Sky Flyer did delivered on its promise of great views and fresh wind however. Rollerstaker's theme is so weird, but it still like it for some reason. I guess I enjoy the eccentricity. Despite its old age, it holds up fairly well for a family coaster! De Grote Golf is your standard Zamperla Disk-O, but enhanced with cool theming! I can see the appeal to parks for this model, as it is supposedly cheap and it provides some spectacular near-misses at both ending spikes of the track. I wish I could tolerate the spinning and back-and-forth movements more though My unconvincing previous experience on Anubis wasn't enough to deter me from a night ride. That lap in the dark amplified everything. The Launch and Top Hat were really exciting and the Dive Loop felt quite snappy, but everything else ended up more brutal and nauseating than before. The oddly-banked turnaround after the Dive Loop provided one of the worst moments of headbanging in my coaster experience - which does say a lot with both Goudurix and El Condor being in my coaster count. A nasty headache resulted from both laps, which only enticed me to leave, even with about an hour left before park closure. The whole day was frustrating. Some of it was definitely my fault - I wish I had planned this visit much better. Plopsaland is heading the right way. The theming is very appealing for the most part and Heidi is an excellent addition. Unfortunately external circumstances exacerbated their noticable flaws. But despite the negativity, I do not regret going there again. I am very grateful for the park allowing me to use my chest-attached GoPro. The inspiring scenery and fun woodie are worth the detour, and I wish that one day I can fully appreciate the parks of this park.
  9. Must be a lucky one, I've never had an issue with any my families passes
  10. About time RMC started using non-red/brown/orange track on more coasters.
  11. Crazanity is the worst ride name I have ever heard.
  12. From what I hear the wheel is going through a re-paint, hence the missing lights and cars, they do a few at a time. Shame about Ranger. I wish theyd just let it go to a showman, there is interest in Australia.
  13. Autobots, transform, and rollout! You english good. Hope stick around long time. Thanks linking your for crap. BIG PENDULUM! inevitable link spam it is
  14. Ripple cosplay is hoping to have her Sombra ready for Supanova. She has done D.Va a few times now and it is always interesting to see her spin on some characters...
  15. A few months ago it was all about imagination, now it's about experiences? Sounds like precisely the opposite of of identifying their core values. It's laughably over-the-top and transparent use of a buzzword in place of actual substance. It's a nervous brand totally unsure of who and what they are, run by a management team that has no gut-level understanding of the theme park industry, or even what Dreamworld is. Adding the word 'experience', 'magic' or 'precinct' to everything doesn't make it so.
  16. Am i allowed to give my opinion in this topic about this coaster? I was already underwhelmed from the animated POV but quietly kept myself excited. From what i have seen, it's no flash. No comparison. The first drop, airtime hill and inverted loop are it for this coaster, then it's a nothing coaster as far as i am concerned. Definitely the weakest of all of mack's bigger coasters. For some reason we seem to get the worst of everything in OZ.. we get the worst el loco of the lot cause it's loaded with trims, no excitement or adrenaline at all, and we get an ok and good for oz, but weakest hyper of the lot. We keep getting shunted. This was in no way about budget as that's an expensive coaster, it's simply not a great design IMO. This will all be mostly about front seat airtime and maybe the very back seat for the first drop and that's it.. If we weren't going to get a lot of hills and drops, i would have at least liked to see inversions. We still need to go OS to get really good hypers and multi loopers, we have no choice. Too bad. At this stage i would have much preferred an RMC, by far. My expectations were probably too high for this, after helix and flash. I'll reserve absolute final judgement till ride day. PS perhaps one day dreamworld will build an intamin hyper like new england ROS to beat this. So for the inspiration to get other parks to compete, it's still worth having. And of course i'll still be riding it 100+ times, regardless. It's just not my kind of hyper, layout wise.
