If they need help with ride signage, I know a guy... Are you sure? "Many" as in, many people on Parkz? Or "Many" as in "many" general punters. Because i'll be honest - i don't even think many on Parkz remember that in that much detail - I knew MDMC had VR trialled, but I never knew it had a name... I'm curious as to how many of her supposed 92 titles the mod team at Parkz went through before deciding to lead with that one... Funny as it is, this story is a little more low brow than usual Parkz standards... I don't really think you're being fair here. Sure - getting the right combination into google produced a porn star. hahahah thats funny! make fun of Dreamworld everyone! The problem here is that everything else is so particular when it comes to trademark. As Parkz rightly points out at the start of the article, the name registered is SkyRyder. No space, uppercase R. The google search you did was "Sky Ryder" with a space. When I click your link, all the results I get are for the Ryder cup golf tournament (on Sky Sports channel). Interestingly enough, and again on YOUR google search link, the front page also links to the Sky Ryder zipline at 'The Waterfront, Okoboji (that's in Iowa). Nothing on this first page of results returns a porn star for me - and that's with 'safe search' switched off. As a matter of fact, try as I might, I can't get google to bring that particular personality up without spelling her name correctly... with an 'e'. When I try googling the actual registered trademark "SkyRyder" without a space, the results returned include a Metal band by that name... but even in that search, google assumes I spelled it incorrectly, and suggests "SkyRider" which - when you click through, then links to the Sky Rider at Luna Park Melbourne. As easily as I could have - with safe search off, and using your search terms, I still couldn't find it without the 'e'. I'm sorry guys - but i think you really missed the mark this time.6 points

Volcano Bay Beach opening in December. Fingers crossed the budget holds out and we see the Volcano rockwork 'waterfall' come to fruition. Also some nice lush landscaping and private cabanas would be nice.5 points

A few words. 🤣 Hardly, and it was the bait used on Facebook. Looks like parkz staff spend to much time in porn sites because I couldn't get it up. Skeeta search Superman Escape = Parkz search Superman Escape =4 points

What i'd love to see is Village stepping up communications about these kind of closures - it's well established that guests feel more loyalty and more satisfaction from a brand that had brilliant communication and action sorrounding solving a problem compared to a guest who had no problem to begin with. There's an opportunity here with these random closures of things like the Mach 5 Tower and Surfrider to be a proactive communicator and engage with guests to give answers, educate and avoid disappointment and brand damage. It could be as simple as giving @Richard a buzz and getting an account on Parkz to engage with the community, or just having a simple blog with behind the scenes updates and small news pieces i.e. "Hi folks - we've taken an opportunity to really breathe some life into Wet 'n' Wild, and so we're giving Surfrider some love - we'll be doing x/y/z - here's some pictures of that process, this is part of our commitment to continue to have the best standard safety etc. etc." Rocket science it ain't - you're welcome in advance Village.4 points

Dreamworld's i-Ride: Ardent Leisure registers 'SkyRyder' trademark Following an abortive attempt to register the name Flyover, Dreamworld owners borrow the name of an American pornographic film star for the latest apparent move in naming their forthcoming flight simulator attraction. Village Roadshow recently cited a heatwave for the poor performance of a water park. 👍🏻2 points

I've had quite the offline discussion about this. I've tried firefox, explorer, firefox nightly incognito, safari, and the ios google app - not one of them returns this result. I've asked quite a few people if they could get it to happen - so far, nobody outside of Parkz staff has told me they got it that way. let me be clear - i'm not suggesting its shopped, faked or otherwise not real. I believe you got it to happen that way, and i believe other parkz staff could too (one could suggest perhaps the google profiles of Parkz staff could do with a cleanout, but one won't because a. it'd be a poor taste joke, and b. thats below the belt) I'm just saying it seems to be a very small group that could get that particular result, which leads me to my view that its probably an overly reaching statement to base a headline on "park names ride after porn star" if i may paraphrase. "Writing a few words on it" and "lambasting the park for another misstep in a series of missteps" is a far cry, especially when, in all likelihood, nobody within Ardent or Dreamworld could reproduce the search results you've gotten, and therefore they weren't to know, because there are more than 60 Million search hits for your search alone, and since its spelled differently, they probably wouldn't have found it - and nor would their target (family) market. Edit: i found someone outside of parkz staff able to replicate it - although the porn star is below the sky sports headlines instead of above.2 points

Yeah some real manipulation of searches for it to appear right up top for a search for "sky ryder". Like all things Google it'll vary user to user but it was the first thing that came up for me and I figured it was funny enough point to write a few words about.2 points

It's a great start - i'd like to see it receive more investment & commitment from Ardent to make it the institution it once was - it wouldn't be hard to have the best stunt/comedy show on the coast. Some more coin would help them flesh out the comedy, dial in the violence and create a space that takes it from having a local theatre group vibe, where there's great talent working with the bare minimum to entertain to rewarding that passion and giving it a space to shine. Let's not forget Dreamworld was once an iconic landmark for acting & shows so for Gary Weiss it'd be a no brainer in terms of a relatively safe investment.2 points

Agree 100% Youtube is a great place to keep up to date with all things amusement parks. @GoGoBoy I rate TimTracker highly. He has some great content and its regular and enjoyable to watch. Theme Park Worldwide has some good content and some amazing trips and vlogs but is constantly hampered by the host of the show Shaun Pembroke and his mates being some of the most annoying cockwombles that I have ever seen. Still worth a view and a laugh until the nauseousness takes over. Theme Park Review still do great videos- they are always worth a watch. Some channels that have not been mentioned that are extremely worthwhile checking out are Theme Park Crazy and Expedition Theme Park. Both have excellent content that is a little different to the run of the mill vlogs and reviews. Expedition Theme Park in particular has some excellent videos on the history of a variety of parks and is called Expedition Extinct. Highly recommended. Theme Park Crazy has some excellent Top 10 lists and he is also extremely prolific. Defunctland is also another great channel for the history of parks , especially Disney attractions. Offhand Disney is one of the best resources for all things of course Disney related. CoasterBot is also a brilliant channel with some excellent "What Is?" videos that relate to anything from how coasters actually work, manufacturers , theme parks themselves or individual rides. Xtreme Rides is a great channel with a particular slant for European parks and rides- well worth a view as well. ParkChat Live , whilst great in being Australian in content , is let down somewhat by the hosts. The new guy is , IMHO, very ordinary to watch and the actual host is all over the place in his delivery. Its actually a chore to get through a whole episode now, especially since James has left- he made the show far more palatable. Still, it does have its high points and is worth checking out every now and then. Needs work though to refine the experience. For websites, as has been mentioned, I cannot go past Screamscape. It has been around for years and years and is still , in my mind , the number one source of all news and rumours for amusement park news worldwide. For all things coaster related, you cannot beat RCDB. The bible for any enthusiast. For Aussie content, then of course our home page Parkz ,is a great asset. Interestingly enough, many international sites do piggy back content from Parkz pages to add to their own international news. I know Screamscape has done this on any number of occasions and this really shows how important Parkz is to the Australian amusement park industry and its standing internationally. Great thread!!2 points

@AlexB Summed up what I was thinking. The only thing I have to add is it was a shit read and should be buried with the parkz news forum thread. That way no one else has to read it.1 point

The lowest point of the ride are roughly where those blocks are - if you wanted to take the entire carriage on/off, you'd need those in place to steady the carriage on the curve.1 point

Great thread! Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time watching various theme park Youtube channels for my park fix. I’m a big fan of Tim Tracker, Attractions Show/Attractions Magazine, Theme Park Worldwide, In The Loop. I particularly like the tour vlogs where they literally just walk around a particular park and point everything out and talk about what’s new etc.1 point
