  3. So.. after you exit Scooby-doo you find the entire back of the Park is closed right now? Village Theme Parks put out a gushy Ad campaign and then they do this. OK that's fucked.

  4. Sounds like a very well thought out event. If it is held in the evenings it will provide a child and family friendly alternative to Movie Worlds Fright Nights. Could fill a gap in the market and become a very good annual event.

  5. For some reason, in both versions of the artwork, Vortex looks like it's a ride that lives at a resort rather than a theme park. 🤔 Other than that, the location is still horrible, Vortex is still an abstract name rather something that adds to an actual Atlantian theme, and the ride seems like it was selected purely as an 'F you' to DW rather than based off being a good fit for the park. Is there anything else to really say?

  10. For those people with young families who want to visit a quiet inner city amusement park in Tokyo, here’s my review of one I went to in 2015. It’s near a large temple and one train stop from the Skytree. http://parks115.blogspot.com/2015/10/hanayashiki-amusement-park.html?m=1

  11. I was in Melbourne last weekend, and they had the same obstacle course at Melbourne Esports Open around where Rod Laver Arena is. Gave it a try and it was appealing even to adults. I think it'll be quite popular.

  12. All of the Villains area is closed GL is fenced off And the splash pad has been removed Just a thought, but maybe they have permanently closed the splash pad to construct a photo op for Tom and Jerry. It is however supposed to reopen at the end of the month, but considering the entire thing has been removed (and VRTP repetition for scheduling maintenance and then just closing the ride), it could be possible

  20. I never stated that they should utilise the entire footprint that Big Dipper occupied. I am merely saying that there is enough room for a second coaster on the existing Metropolis site. Yes the Pinfari Zyklon is a compact coaster , however the site is now sitting empty and dormant. It is used as a space for temporary attractions for the moment. This space could more than handle a small Eurofighter, Maurer Spinner, S&S El Loco, Premier Rides Sky Rocket II, Custom S & S Mine Train Coaster, Custom Mack Big Dipper Coaster, Custom Zamperla Thunderbolt, Custom Mack Wild Mouse- need i go on? The fact is that the public find coasters, on the whole, as the most thrilling exponent of any amusement park. To have a new coaster would be a far bigger drawcard than settling on 2 or 3 unremarkable flats. The introduction of any 2nd coaster would not precipitate the loss of any space currently utilised for flats so the number of rides within the park would be unaffected. And as I stated before, if the park is clever, you can certainly succeed in having another flat within or close to the ride envelope. Potentially a Drop tower could also be ideally situated in this space, depending on what coaster was actually installed. Either way, its a moot point. LPM have confirmed that this space will eventually be the home of a 2nd coaster as a direct replacement for the long gone Metropolis. They have signalled that this is their intention and that , although there is no timeframe for this at the present time, they have been investigating options for the site.

  21. Could it also relate to the Future Lab they announced earlier this year? Unless that project has been scrapped because there is no mention of it on the parks website

  22. Hahaha the only redeeming feature of the original IT is Tim Curry's performance as Pennywise. Its on par with Skarsgaards version IMHO. And whilst the remake is excellent , its also a big budget Hollywood tentpole picture, done 30 years after the original, with all the latent advances in digital effects that were simply not possible at the time of the original. Its very hard to compare , as its not exactly apples for apples. @Skeetais absolutely right. For the full IT experience, read the book. It is a sprawling , huge tome that many ( myself included) consider to be the best thing that Stephen King has committed put to paper. And given his bibliography, that is certainly saying something. A horror maze themed to IT though should be an excellent and atmospheric experience.

  25. Admittedly, I was somewhat sceptical about how this would turn out. The only new ride was Runaway Reptar Roller Coaster, the rest being old (some really old) rides simply rethemed. I was confident though, that the landscaping and gardens, as always at Dreamworld, would be superb. I'll start with the obvious - Reptar. The coaster looks great, it has fantastic gardens around it, that once they grow up will look great as a rainforested area. The somewhat famous Reptar statue was there, as at Paramount King's Island. It was built standing on a shed, and as an interesting touch, it was modeled to look as though the weight of the dinosaur was breaking the walls. The queue winds through the garden area, beside Tower of Terror's track, and all around you, there are giant mouldings of Reptar's footprints. The station has a nice open feeling, with quite a modern look. Once you're under the cover, there's a TV playing some Rugrats episodes. All I can say is at least they're not repeating the same episode over and over. Twenty at a time are let through the gate to line up at the airgates. Once the train is back and everyone has left, the gates open and everyone hops on. The seats aren't terribly comfortable - they are solid fiberglass - though more comfortable than the regular sitdown Rollerskater. The course is identical to the sitdown Rollerskater. The train handles much better though, thanks to spring-loaded guide wheels. It does feel much slower, and less forceful as the regular version. I'm hoping this is due to the ride being new, and it just has to wear in. As for the rest of Nick Central. It is on the whole very well done, considering much of it is old rides. The area is very open - something that Australian parks lack. On crowded days, it'll be able to soak up several thousand people without looking terribly bloated. The theming and landscaping of the entire area is great. It has set a new level that not only Dreamworld, but all other Australian parks should try to reach. A much more in-depth review will be up at ThrillNetwork soon, which will have plenty of photographs. To finish up, here's a nice picture of the ride on opening day, December 26.
