  1. Something like this would be the PERFECT replacement for Arkham Asylum. It's well themed, and it's actually about movies in general rather than just being Superhero themed, something Movieworld needs desperately. It also looks like something the whole family can enjoy.
  2. Why is that though? Arkham was originally the parks signature 'large' coaster - big thrill. Then superman took the crown from the then Lethal Weapon. Then Rivals took the crown from Superman. So what is Arkham's place? third best coaster in the park? it isn't even - I'd argue that Scoob comes in before Arkham, but that is all a matter of opinion anyway. The park has for some time addressed big thrillriders needs, while ignoring, removing, or providing a half-baked effort for those with lesser needs. High capacity family attractions were lost with little or nothing to replace them. River ride was originally replaced with nothing, and then JDS as a very poor substitute. Not really something 'the whole family' can ride. For me, Arkham already has a replacement. The fact that Arkham's site wasn't used for that replacement doesn't matter. We have our big thrills, and as has been said already - trying to top Rivals is probably out of their reach - they simply can't afford to build something that would beat it - and why would you want to right now when Rivals is still regularly packed? No, the Arkham site should be used for something with a wider age\height appeal, preferably something that is more immersive too.
  3. I’m obviously no expert but the reason I shared it is because I think it would be feasible for MW. Movie Park is also a small movie themed park, and you can tell it doesn’t have the budget for massive projects. This looks like it has taken out the cost of a big coaster and then funnelled that into theming. The theming also isn’t mind blowing in terms of effects, but they’ve done it cleverly so that the effects they do have makes the static scenes come to life.
  4. Visited site this afternoon. Some finishing touches on maloneys corner with boomerang station painted yellow and a tent surrounding Boomerang's helix, walls are down for what was meant to be Friday. BD hill section before 1st launch is up as well. Looks like they might be leaving the second section till later
  5. What a brilliant attraction and absolutely perfect for a movie park! There are so many details and they are all spot on. This was built in the old Looney Tunes River / Ice Age show building. Waaay better use of the space than a kids driving school and storage shed!
  6. After coming across this article 2 days ago I thought I should share it with you guys on here. Maybe you've read it already or maybe you already know the relevant information but anyways... https://www.ausleisure.com.au/news/dreamworld-announced-topping-off-of-steel-taipan-rollercoaster/ Key takeaways from the article: - Late 2021 opening once electrical works, load station building, landscaping and commissioning have been completed. - Rollercoaster train set to see Australian shores in early July, with installation on the ride's track planned for early August. - "Fresh theme park attractions are important to the Gold Coast's visitor economy" It's exciting to see how quickly the ride is coming along with the next two months creeping with theming, landscaping and load station building works due to be completed, as well as the welcoming of the trains and its spinner. Almost entering the second half of the year, late 2021 isn't too far away now...
  7. The quality and professionalism of the Parkz articles over the last decade plus speak for themselves. I think you’re confusing the community who use the site to express their opinions and fandom with Parkz itself. You’re essentially confusing “why didn’t they invite news.com.au” with “why didn’t they invite everyone from news.com.au’s comment section.”
  8. I kinda like how the reopening now lines up with my birthday.
  9. Exactly my thoughts here as well. What type of coasters are not present at Movieworld? Things that have never been seen before in an Australian park. Think an immersive spinner- either Mack or Maurer would fit the bill here and would still be an excellent attraction that would be unqiue in the Australian theme park landscape. A flying coaster? We know the huge costs of B&M's which would make one of their models unlikely but the new Vekoma flying model has shown huge promise with the opening of FLY at Phantasialand and could well come into consideration on a cost to cost basis. Intamin still offer a suspended coaster model which could also be considered. Would they go for something smaller? There are plenty of smaller coasters that pack quite a punch that could fit the bill- think Premier Skyrocket II here or the new generation Intamin vertical LSM. There are so many coaster models out there that whilst not going to be considered bigger and better than DC Rivals, would offer something new to not only the park but to the themepark landscape in Australia- something unique. There are still many options for this new ground to be covered that any Australian park could capitalise on.
  10. Usually, when someone suggests cloning something from overseas, its either been cloned 1000 times before or its mega expensive. This thing is supposed to open today, looks fantastic - and the only thing I can't find is the cost. Is this feasible for MW to build? It would have been a great 30th anniversary launch, especially with all the nods to the parks history - gremlins, PASS, etc. Someone needs to tag every VRTP exec in this video daily until they build it.
  11. Thats actually a brilliant ride. It doesnt require any one IP- as you said its Movie related which is what our Movie World is in desperate need of!! Love the concept this would be an absolute winner!! Its an Intamin which is quality and the theming throughout looks excellent without being prohibitively expensive!! This is so new that RCDB still lists it as under construction!! Buy the rights and build a clone now!!
  12. Storm Coaster is going under maintenance again for 2 months. Hopefully this means it is the end of summer maintenance for the ride.
  13. Said it before and I will say it again........MOVE it to Seaworld!! Its such a wasted ride at Wet 'N Wild!! Management just need to admit that the experiment of putting a thrill coaster in a water park has failed. The logic is simple and the timing could not be better. Despite the upcoming Atlantis precinct and the 2 new rides opening, Seaworld is still in desperate need for more attractions and a rethemed Intamin Half pipe coaster would certainly fit the bill here. It does not take much room and could easily be fit into the park in any number of locations. Just do it already!!
  14. Sledgehammer is not the same ride model. That is a Zamperla Giant Discovery, Sledgehammer is a Discovery Revolution. Same manufacturer, that's all.
  15. Any logical person/organisation who is trying to market/advertise their new product/experience to the broadest/largest possible audience?
  16. Still amazes me how UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE people are on here. Maybe if they looked at how they act and speak and their own behaviour first before commenting on others. Who cares how many people are active on a site or page. It’s called being professional and people seeing that. Hence the invite. For an enthusiast page there’s awful a lot of hatred from the same old bunch, grow up people.
  17. Still amazing to me that they’ll invite out Facebook groups like the dreamworld times who have a sketchy past and have a reach of maybe a few hundred (if you’re lucky) and completely ignore Parkz, despite having tens of thousands of times more reach, all because of a grudge formed because @Richard isn’t gushingly positive. 🤷🏼‍♂️
  18. Re-posting and tweaking this post from another thread because I stand by this idea and I reckon it's boss. Mad Max themed land. Vekoma Mad-house where the WB Exhibit is now. Entrance to the east facing current Arkham station OR an ETF dark ride system that uses the Mavericks/WB Exhibit building as a station/dark-ride section that then swings out into a Mad Max themed courtyard. Vekoma flyer that makes use of the space from Superman Escape's helixes right up to the current maze buildings. Mad Max themed bar and events space that doubles as an exit pathway, observation platform (think light-house type outpost themed to Mad Max) and merch space for the ride itself. Mack Twist 'n' Splash or Drunken Barrels (or hell, any half decent flat ride that would do well on a hot summer day) to tie the space in between current Arkham courtyard and the interconnect from the Mad Max area to WWF. This combo of attractions would make great use of the land, avoids overlap with existing attractions in Australia and has clearly defined marketable advantages (country's first flying coaster, total novelty factor etc.) Advantages of a Mad Max themed land: There's a new Mad Max movie. The theme is pretty iconic and timeless at this point. It's basically an abandoned, rustic theme, so it's not crazy expensive to do well It's Aussie AF and appeals to the same demo that Hollywood Stunt Driver does The transitions between other precincts themed lands is a piece of cake - it's an easy transition to WWF, and the transitions between Superman and Main Street are basically more of what used to be there with the China Town Alley-way. If you put an RMC Hybrid between West and Mad Max it'd fit theming wise for both and blur the transition between the lands. You're welcome Village. 🍻 Second update: have added inspo pictures because why not. How sick would it be walking into the former Arkham Asylum precinct styled into a dry Sydney Harbour, complete with broken harbour bridge, faux skyline facades, beautiful chandalier interiors with old Victorian-style glasshouses melded into the sand rockery and a ton of cool outposts and makeshift vehicles thrown into the mix.
  19. Due to the current covid outbreak, Sadly the reopening until July 3rd
