  1. I’ll post more later but the biggest elements are going up!
  2. On rollercoasters a block zone is a section of ride that only one train may occupy at a time. At the end of a block zone there is a method to stop the train, in case the block zone ahead is still occupied. This is the safety system that prevents rollercoaster trains from colliding with one another. Hope this helps.
  3. It wasn't too bad. It's a good level of detail for the general guest, to build interest in the ride. And it's more than was ever done for DC Rivals, and I'm interested to see what comes in the next video.
  4. I think that’s overly harsh. It’s not a marvel of production, but it’s good for what it’s meant to be, which is part of an marketing campaign to promote the ride. If anything it’s designed for the joe public, not the Parkz crew, as most here would know what goes into the procurement process, whereas others may not have given it thought. I’d rather a BTS doco style campaign than just putting out rehashed marketing collateral that says or does nothing.
  5. I mean, the guy was there on a regular basis pre-SAHO, so i'm happy to give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he is being sensible and is entirely within the rules on this one, rather than assuming he's doing the wrong thing. Could well be that he actually parks in that carpark on his way to essential employment... ...and that he's really fast at framing and composing photos whilst moving.
  6. Dreamworld have posted a great video, part 1 of a 5 part series on Steel Taipan. https://fb.watch/v/1jUNzbgBs/ Production quality is mint, much better than anything they have produced in years. It’s great to see them embracing the ride rather than ignoring it.
  7. It's not a matter of needing more reward money. They will never find the criminal organisation responsible and even less chance of finding the actual people who lit the fire. At this point I feel it's much more important to move on with the giant corruption issue that allowed all of this to happen. Ensure any remaining people are brought to justice (if only Doug Knight hadn't already died) and that this kind of gross bullshit coverup can not occur again.
  8. Yeah - the youtube comments section doesn't help his case either. I was prepared to give the benefit of the doubt for the photos like the other guy who lives local, but the video crossing the bridge, the gerstlauer hat, the braggadocio... This is a pretty blatant case of 'fuck it, i'll do what I want'. I know the rules haven't changed, only extended, so if you couldn't go 4 days ago, and you couldn't go 1 day ago, what changed to make today any different? Not to mention that the harbour bridge post was taken from the passenger seat of a car, meaning there's a second person potentially breaching the rules too (and at least one responsible adult who should know better). And worst of all, given the social channels with a presence on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube under the same name as your Parkz username, in my opinion this comes across as shameless promotion of your own brand than purely enthusiast-motivated construction updates... but thats opinion, and i'm no Mod so i'll leave it up to the relevant authorities...
  9. NGL, I'd love to wake up to that
  10. I too go excercising to a completely out of the way private carpark during a stay-at-home order!
  11. Forgive me for being unaware, but what is a block section?
  12. well... I won't gush over it - it's not an astounding piece of production, but the CEO has taken time out of what is imaginably a busy day to shoot a few pieces to camera, and it's been knocked together by someone without the aid of a marketing team or budget. It's not the gushing quality described originally but neither is it hot garbage. its a message, and it (somewhat clumsily) achieves it's aim. (I had to lol that they used the Blue Fire spinner footage to say ST was just like BF, and then reused the same footage to say the spinner was a world first. The average Joe public is going to go 'wtf?' because they're literally seeing a spinning gondola on blue fire, and they don't explain it was just for testing... (because that isn't the point of this video) I think he meant a better production BY Dreamworld, not a fansite. For mine, go take a look at the SkyVoyager briefing video. Probably one of the best i've seen done by the park - and not exactly expensive to do either. Jingiri. You mean about the thing where two senior staff sit out of the front of the ride whilst its still being built using the world's smallest microphone to talk, tease and build up the ride prior to opening? Doing little Q&As about things like the colour of the track and stuff? Yes, this single video, after the last piece of track has already been placed is really more than Movie World had done at this point in construction...
  13. Aww, but I liked hitting a brick wall at speed...
  14. They’ve also updated the rides page on the website https://www.dreamworld.com.au/news/steel-taipan-coming-soon-to-dreamworld/?fbclid=IwAR1omNV8cYk0LXNAzLkdQg2y5KHESmOHudtEtZt23uHjXkkCLmRe0E7UGf0
  15. The real Skeeta is back Hey @New display name any chance i can use your old name 'Skeeta' and pic 😊
  16. Not to defend covid breaching but in the story he was in a car and every other time he's been on the train so he was clearly there for other reasons than just updates. If not though this was really stupid and unsafe
  17. Ah yep, my mistake. Got the whole "nah, we're not building a new coaster, just ignore that track and all that machinery" confused with the videos (how did I ever forget the world's smallest microphone!)
  18. I'm not sure if it's currently in use due to covid restrictions - and they may have to change it in the future for a 'covid normal' so we might not actually see it again in park. I'm sure we'd see a copy surface online one day if that were the case though. They are entitled to their own opinion, but they should also be willing to elaborate to explain their position and help others understand why they have that opinion. For example: (in your opinion) what better 'in house' produced video have they done? what do you mean - "what was there" - do you mean the original SV briefing video? or the iMAX film? The video is obviously a very cheeky take on the original Patrick Warburton "Soarin'" brief, and I personally think it hits the right balance between an imitation, a parody, and a piss-take with a little larrikinism thrown in. It is MEANT to be just a tad on the cringe side, and that's what makes it funny. Safety briefings are important parts of amusement rides, just like flying on an aircraft - but you can get a serious message across to more people (and have more of them paying attention) if you make it quirky, amusing, or anything other than boring drawl, or spiels spoken by ride attendants too fast for anyone to actually hear it. Go check out 'southwest airlines safety briefing' as a search term on Youtube for an idea of how much engagement briefings like this get. (And off topic - but if Sky Voyager's briefing is akin to Southwest Airlines, then Superman Escape's video is akin to Qantas. Serious. Even if you are a frequent traveller.)
  19. That is what I meant thanks. I'll check out the sky Voyager briefing video.
  20. They may have more blocks but it's irrelevant when it takes the ops 10 minutes to cycle a train and everyone is just banked on the brake run.
  21. A step in the right direction- NSW Police have offered a $1 Million dollar reward for informatio pertaining to the Ghost Train Fire of 1979. It stops short of the independant commision and inquiry that is needed for this case to be put to rest. https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/million-dollar-reward-announced-for-luna-park-fatal-fire-20210707-p587l8.html#:~:text=Authorities hope a %241 million, inside the Ghost
  22. I think it was an observation of the long wide spanning arcs, not a critique of the ride nor comparing the experience to a playground.
  23. Big dipper is looking like one of these right now.
  24. I have uploaded another photo that I took on Saturday, next time I will remember to take better photos with more details. But thanks for the kind feedback, sorry that the photos are not great I was just walking and took a few quickly. Anyway, here is another one.
  25. This video is aimed at the general public, and I think it does a good job at doing just that, informing average joe. Don’t get me started on that dreaded Sky Voyager video, I cringe every time I see it. It’s not the worst they have produced but it’s far from the best, and hardly a step up from what was there. Ofcourse everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
