Gumbuya Coasters Update: (credit: @mittythemeparks - instagram) The Track for the Skyloop has now been complete and is dominating over the parks skyline, with the supports for the SFC starting to go in. Now the Skyloop is done i won’t be surprised is all steam ahead on the SFC now, maybe a month or less and it’ll all be done?

Generally in these types of setups the anemometer at the top of the lift hill is linked with the ride PLC and as such acts as an interlock which will prevent a dispatch if recorded winds exceed the design spec of the ride (which is based upon an empty train anyway). In fact, in most cases I've seen the PLC starts a one-shot 30-min timer if the wind speed goes above threshold and will prevent dispatch for the duration, with the timer resetting every time a new wind event is recorded. I'd be surprised if Rivals is any different, ergo it wouldn't even be possible for them to send a train if the wind was too strong.

I can say with fact (from the manufacturer) its rated above 50km/hr before it has to be stopped. So 45 IS within limits.

Like I said, it became stuck during morning checks. Would you rather the park just puts people on the ride first thing in the morning and hope that there's nothing mechanically wrong with the ride? I understand this concept quite well, I'm an engineer. All the operating procedures, wind limits, etc, would all be specified for the worst possible case plus safety factor. This will only have happened because there was some freak, momentary combination of factors. Which is why I suggested cold wheels and tracks were a likely factor too; my understanding is that there's a difference in running time on the order of multiple seconds, between the first cycles of the day and the last cycles of the day. I'd also be very surprised if this wasn't the case.

I may be misreading this.. but you do realise all rides are run empty every day prior to park opening right?

Brake fins on the launch track have been removed - so I'm very confident that its going to convert to a LSM launch.

All these wind speeds are below the maximum operating wind speed for the ride, which is the same whether it's an empty train or not. It became stuck during checks in the morning before anyone was riding it. I imagine it was a combination of an empty train, a strong momentary gust, and probably cold track and wheel temperatures, all compounding at the same time to cause it to valley.

I think that the fact that Gumbaya World is building the same coaster as MW is not really going to have a significant impact on the GP. The model looks quality and really fits the Gumbaya World demographic. I am so impressed with how progressive Gumbaya World has been, come a long way from the little Gumbaya Park I used to visit when I lived in Gippsland. As for LPS the expansion was definitely not small change and while it has its flaws its a pretty well rounded expansion. Personally I am really excited to see the direction of theme parks in Australia over the next two decades, its promising to see so much development outside of the Gold Coast.

Does changing the ride from Yellow to White improve the quality, value, or extent of the attraction?

So does that count as an enhancement now?
