  1. I don't think anyone is disputing closing once and doing all the necessary work. The thing that people are pointing out is that they're doing that on SE AND Batwing AND DD (which has other issues) AND Scooby all at the same time, with a lot of unplanned stoppages/late openings/closed seats on GL, Rivals, RR, and WWF. There have been several days where MW were charging $110 single day entry for people to watch HWSD2, and see Batman showcase because every single adult ride has been closed, as well as Road Runner - meaning there was not a single roller coaster or thrill ride operational. That is an unacceptable situation to be in and is 100% due to the park's management failing to invest adequately in the maintenance of their rides, plan maintenance schedules properly, and replace defunct rides in a timely manner when it is clear that they've reached the end of their lifespan (SD, AA, DD). But also due to the types of rides and attractions they operate. A simulator ride like Batman could operate even if one or two simulators failed - just at reduced capacity. The Movie Magic show could still operate if one of the show elements failed, other areas of the show could be padded out and the host could still explain how things work with other demonstrations. It also means that annual maintenance can occur on part of the attraction while it is still operational, reducing the amount of time it would need to be closed. It is also apparent that there are management issues from staff attitudes toward visitors. Staff are not friendly, none of them want to be there, and replies to customer complaints on social media have shown absolute contempt for visitors that just wanted a fun day out with their family. Compare that with DW, where they acknowledge they are in a state of transition, they know most of the park is a construction zone, but the staff are engaging, friendly, courteous, and genuinely want to see people enjoying themselves. I visited DW for the first time since 2015 the other week and the staff were the single most memorable part of my day. The staff issue at MW is what really indicates this is a top-down problem because the front line workers are unsupported and have no power to fix the situation for unhappy visitors. A theme park is a retail business, a service industry business, an art/design and performance business and a heavy machinery business. Movie World was once the stand out performer in Australia for all of these, but it's fallen behind in all of them and completely bungled the last one. People are rightfully pointing out that 2 month closures should be unnecessary, and planned overlapping closures are just bad management. But 2 month closures when you've got so many other closures - planned or temporary - happening in the park to the point that people are paying full price entry and cannot go on a single ride, is what most people in this thread are complaining about. Yes, DW have some extended closures for various reasons, but the difference is in the broader context of the park's offerings and operations.

  2. That’s good they’ve gone to the effort to adding speakers and bringing back music to the area (because it definitely needed it). Maybe im being too harsh, but that feels like such a half assed effort of hanging speakers from a tree. Why not actually mounted them to a wall or somewhere more inconspicuous so you can’t see them. That tree is already cluttered with stuff, it didn’t need more adding to it. The area needed music, but if this is the best they can do, maybe they shouldn’t have bothered. I don’t know! (someone feel free to call me out if that too harsh). It’s just disappointing to see this is how the park is managed now and they seem to respond to feedback in a panic and just see what sticks.

  3. MW only having 2 big rides open. ShakeShack "It's fine" ShakeShack " Look at DW"

  4. It's not, but the difference is DW schedule their maintence so it's spaced out throughout the year so there aren't multiple major rides closed for months at the same time. While currently MW have four major attractions closed (Scooby being one and Doomsday now not having a reopening date). It seems the 1-2 month closures are the normal now (due to the new requirements post the river rapids investigation), but what the parks need to do is manage their timing and try and reduce the mutli-ride downtime as much as possible.

  5. I don’t think in any situation, putting the flash (a red coaster) within Superman (a red coaster) was a good idea. Superman towers over Flash making it look so insignificant and not exciting. At WnW it towered over anything that was nearby and it made it look impressive, but at MW it isn’t. And with it tangled within Superman’s track I’d say guests are going to get confused with what coaster is what. It doesn’t matter that Superman is nearly 20 years old and there’s entry signage, people still get confused with this sort of thing. The Flash at MW (in my opinion) was not the right decision, but having it within Superman was a terrible idea.

  6. Last year it was the same, Serpent Slayer, Claw, The Gold Coaster, Motocoaster and Shockwave all closed for 2+ months. Movie World's in comparison was far less. Why is it ok for Dreamworld, but not Movie World?

  7. So let me get this straight: Surfrider first made news around February 2007 Track was onsite around April 2007 Ride was testing around September 2007 Ride opened on 23 September 2007 Total time lapsed - 7-8 months, or six months from delivery to opening. The relocation had been in planning since August 2022 Construction began in April 2023 It is now March 2024 We're now twice the original build time We're now 18 months from when it was 'planned' The ride still doesn't have a train on track, let alone testing or theming. How incompetent are these people? Interestingly, their latest posts about Flash haven't mentioned that tagline anymore. Hopefully they've realised how stupid it was and dumped it for good. I think a lot of people on socials are getting confused about it given the proximity and the red track. I think it will be harder to confuse in-park, but certainly the marketing has people very confused when a lot of folk recognise it as surfrider - being a retheme of an existing ride, and others confusing it for superman, and assuming the retheme is a retheme of superman...

  8. Nobody wants to see that ride again on the GC. It’s a travelling fair ride essentially. We need an immersive dark ride, not a carnival ride in a room

  9. Guys, they've hung two PA speakers in a tree. That's not a step in the right direction, that literally the least amount of effort possible. Movie World has always been my happy place, but the place now is honestly a glorified shopping centre with 2 decent coasters, a long void of anything interesting and then a water ride.

  10. @ShakeShackwhen The Dreamworld Flyer was built, all trucks/cranes were locked out during park hours not to interrupt the operation of the park. A lot of tradespeople start work at 5am and are off site by 1pm. MW could have worked in opening SE at 1pm with better planing. (only mentioning DW because you like to compare them)

  11. Was probably my favourite flat at Wonderland - in a close way finish with Wizards Fury It would be fine as an attraction to fill a gap in their offerings - but i wouldnt be taking up valuable showstage realestate with it - it's would be just fine outside. when you only have 2-3 rides operating in your park suitable for anyone over the age of 5 - they are all major.

  13. Doomsday is 1 of 2 large flat rides at the park, with the other one also being down (and, not really needing to be for WoO/Flash reasons). Superman being closed whilst Flash is worked on makes sense, but there is a large amount of time the park isn’t open that Flash could be worked on if they wanted to have Superman open, and Flash’s choice location in of itself is already a debated topic. Superman definitely doesn’t need to be closed for WoO reasons, though. They’re totally separate, and concrete pouring for it barely impacts Superman’s plot, can be done outside of hours/guest routes w/o closing Superman, not to mention taking a week or 2 max. They’re all closed because maintenance objectively wasn't planned well, because some rides are complete DuDs, and possibly because they don’t have enough resources/staff to perform fast maintenance or smooth operation (but that’s speculation).

  17. I'm firmly in the "believe it when I see it" camp with VRTP at present. “a new dining experience, in park theming enhancements and experiences and so much more” is very vague. I will note one change I noticed on the weekend some LT background music being played at the entry to WB Kids with speakers now hung in the tree.

  18. Yes I have and I think it gets lost amongst sumperan. Yes the yellow helps, but that doesn’t make it stand out

  19. Yikes, this comment didn't age well, did it? Claw, Motocoaster, Kenny's Flyers, Shockwave and now Serpent Slayer are closed for 2 months or more this year...

  20. You're working on an awful lot of assumptions here... I guess good thing the coaster is both Red & Yellow then.. Have you seen this in person? There is no way it goes unnoticed, especially from within the Superman Escape 'plaza', you would have full view of the attraction & station.

  21. Despite already closing for maintenance this year and only reopening a few weeks ago, Serpent Slayer has unexpectedly closed and for a few months The ride hasn’t operated the hard style mode for a few weeks now, so this could be in response to resolving that issue

  22. Hate To be that Guy, but where did you source this information from? If Flash wasn't a knee-jerk reaction to Scooby's problems, and something that had been planned for any period of time (which seems unlikely given they refurbed and rebuilt it up the road before moving it over), the absolute dogshit attempt of village to theme it is even more of a joke then the 2D comic art would suggest to the untrained eye. And where else could have they reasonably put it in the park? All signs point to: Scooby carking it -> oh crap we didn't plan for the refurbishment of it at the end of its natural life cycle -> we have an extra ride up the road -> bring it down -> put it in superman's helix so we can attach some bullshit marketing slogan to the ride -> fail to open it in a timely fashion during availability crises. IMO, it would have made more sense to remove doomsday and put it in that plot if space permitted, but i guess 'closest roller coaster ride to a western themed log flume in the southern hemisphere' doesn't have the same ring as ' first ride within a ride' even if the former is more true...
