I am part of a community for a game series played by a bunch of friends on certain streaming platforms. JetLag for those who know it. Their latest season announced a poster and trailer for the next game and people immediately jumped on it as being AI generated, calling out all sorts of hallmarks that they claimed proved it was AI. (And this is despite much of the community knowing already the creators' positions on the use of AI and this being totally out of character for them). And they were wrong. The game creators debunked it publicly within hours with proof of design iterations and variants that were discarded during development. Everyone is an expert on what is AI these days. (No, they really aren't) As for designers being made obsolete - eh - if a computer can do the job, do we need them? (See also - Supermarket Checkout operators, numerous manufacturing roles across multiple industries, Aircraft engineers (third seat) and so on...)
