2024 Theme Park Enthusiasts Awards
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
lol. Don't project your shit onto me. I've already said my piece and I can't really see many folk disagreeing with the group consensus at all. Sure you can! It'll give you something constructive to do with your time! -
Seats exist throughout rivertown but they are themed crates and many folk probably don't realise that they're meant to be sat on. Rivertown did have some issues with shade, however - both queues are fully covered They've recently added themed 'parachute' screens over the eastern side of the queue for the cars to shelter guests on the edge of the building (western face covers the 'driveway' too so more shade for guests that side) It is absolutely criminal that this isn't a consideration for our parks in all new builds. I've visited a lot of overseas places recently and it's remarkable just how frequently you find publicly accessible water sources - bubblers within the queue, electric water coolers to fill water bottles, etc. I don't care how far away the nearest potable water is - parks need to run plumbing to all new areas, and factor free water supply devices into their queues and 'precincts' from here-on in. Wasn't it unexpectedly closed last week? Perhaps they're having issues and felt it was better to have one open than none? Ie: I don't think this is a cost saving measure for off-peak, i think its a mechanical issue they've been forced into.

How a business chooses to manage it's operating hours is up to them. Everything listed in the post above is a matter that can be checked with a little research by the guest before arriving. The park has made their hours very clear on website and socials. Night market sends out emails every week with what's on, or if they're closed. When they have private events on, they publish that for weeks in advance of the date. I took my family to an activity over christmas. we arrived early, hoping to beat the crowds, only to discover that although the place it was at opened at 9 - along with every other service provider in the complex, this one particular facility didn't open until 10:30. I was a little annoyed - why doesn't this operator open at the same time as everyone else? but then I realised that the doors (and the website, and google) clearly showed what their trading hours were. I simply hadn't bothered to check and assumed this place was like all the others in the same location. the fault was mine. I understand dreamworld operating lower hours midweek outside of peak. if i were a local, i'd be a little annoyed - and personally I think they're missing out on the after school traffic - but i've also seen the after school population at Movie World and wondered how they afford the staffing bill - because most of those after school visitors weren't there to buy expensive ice cream. they were there to ride on an annual pass that cost nothing for a post-school visit. So i'm not sure if the economics work out to stay open for the possible ice cream purchases that probably won't come. As for visiting the waterpark - i'm not privy to their finances, but again, you want them to be open for a 7 hour trading day for the possibility of capturing post-school trade for the last 2 hours. what a waste of 5 hours of labour (plus the pre-opening labour required). They've got the numbers, and they've decided it's not viable. And this has been repeated to you so many times it's becoming a turnstile-level issue. Restaurant opening times are clearly posted. Nobody would have assumed it was open at night prior to this step, and they've been very clear about saturday openings and providing a booking link. bookings won't be possible on friday, so that should be a big red fucking hint it isn't open. if you turn up on friday to eat at janes without a reservation - that's really on you. All of these situations are fanciful inventions in your own mind and have no connection with reality. I'm not seeing reviews posted to Dreamworld's various online presences complaining about short hours or closed waterparks. i'm seeing reviews of how great the experience was. Don't even start me on how the company with the 7-hour-trade-7-days-per-week parks and the non-seasonal waterpark is performing in the guest reviews space... because it isn't pretty.

I couldn't really care less if you can't see this or not, but you're the one playing on words and ultimately being pedantic. It is correct that they are finishing the themeing of the ride that wasn't completed before the official ride opening - however it is also correct to say that they have added more theming. Because they have - it wasn't there before, now they've added it. Honestly sometimes your nitpicking goes too far.

Movie World Maintenance Schedule 2025

She made a valiant effort at holding on throughout the school holidays, it is unfortunate she shit the bed early, but it was inevitable - she's showing her age and it's only a matter of time. -

Just to be fair to Vortex you've included the entire walkway the public use to get past it. Realistically the width of the attraction footprint would have been a more accurate measurement... -
This thread has been pretty quiet, while over the highway the Rivertown\Jungle Rush threads continue with updates. I haven't been to WOZ myself, and I've no great urge to rush out and do so just yet, but from what i've heard and seen online, the sentiments towards the land are that it was a miss. I watched this last night and the channel has been pretty on the mark with other topics covered. Call it confirmation bias if you like, but a lot of what is covered in this video sounds about what I expected. this video is a big oof.

Where do you think they got the land to build vortex? oh, and the rest of new atlantis? you know that used to be part of the ski lake, right? Meh. I'm no longer in a role that gives me access to Nearmap and it's expensive to obtain individually. @Tim Dasco may be able to assist. -

There's only so many manufacturers that bigger parks are going to want to buy from. Imagine if they blacklisted Intamin because of Doomsday? Batwing has been just fine. We know S&S relationships were soured over GL but time heals all wounds. it's possible, but I love the suggestion of replacing vortex with a swing... -

I wouldn't be so sure... That depends on dispatch interval, doesn't it... If you assume a 3 minute interval you'll get 400pph. If you get a seven minute interval like the recent reports at FOTWW, you're down to 171pph. That's only 1200 riders per operating day. -

In a park where they are trying to work to restore a shattered trust with their guests, as well as rebuild a ride line-up decimated by years of neglect, with the loss of family favourites - log ride, rapids, mine ride, and even to a lesser extent, the more extreme losses of TOT & wipeout - it's completely understandable that Dreamworld wouldn't want to go too extreme while they're still trying to restore their lineup to a well rounded mix... On the other hand, Movie World's lineup hasn't got those same holes (though it would benefit from many more flat rides). Attractions like scooby (when it reopens), wild west, Roxy, Justice League, and now WOZ - the park has that 'middle family' market nicely covered, and it's even got a number of rollercoasters at various levels of appeal. Without getting into the 'nitty gritty' - and please understand i'm talking more 'vibe' than 'stats' here - I would say Movie World's lineup is now at a point similar to the Dreamworld lineup pre-TOT. It's got all the boxes ticked that it can afford to build something stupidly insane even if it doesn't appeal to everyone as it will in itself make a name for itself. The villains unleashed area is isolated from other thematic areas of the park that they don't have to really conform to anything specific (and let's face it - a crappy flat ride getting its own entire themed area was always a bit of a waste!) - this area is well suited to a big weenie you can see from miles around - just as GD is for Dreamworld. -

I wouldn't be so quick to knock this back. Batwing isn't super tall, and has pretty low capacity. While the park up the road already has a giant drop, there are variations on these now (falcon?) that would provide a different perspective. You could get away with doing it 'differently enough' that it could work. I get the impression from some of the village executive that it's the kind of one-upmanship they enjoy that doing an intamin giant drop that is taller than the dreamworld one to steal the crown would also be their kind of penis measuring contest. -

I had forgotten about boot hill, but it was only the front half. the back half was still the western facades and previously used for blazing saddles arcade. -
I think that's a double edged sword. If they're transparent that it's animals, they'll be accused of pandering to the likes of JFC. Probably accused of going woke or some other pseudo-political flavour of the month. Have a look at the backlash Dreamworld received when they announced the changes to tiger island. Put simply, they're damned in they do, and damned if they don't. Don't get me wrong - I like the transparency - and Dreamworld has been doing more 'heart on their sleeve' comms lately while Village continues to persist with 'pay no attention to the man behind the curtain', but in this one specific case at Sea World, I think being vague about their reasons, even if a few folk bemoan the loss without knowing the reasons why, it's probably better than the backlash they'd receive if they were upfront about it.

Rumor has it they've dropped the pyro due to animal welfare concerns. It's a shame, but if that is the case, then I have to respect that they're prioritising animal welfare over entertainment.

Was it Blazing Saddles \ western town before doomsday? or was there something in between those two? -
interesting that the markets aren't charging admission for non passholders. opening Jane's means even if the street food isn't appealing to you or if you were looking for a proper, sit down meal, you've now got the option of dining in a theme park absolutely free of admission. #nice

Trying to think of which Village burn fits best here... The Flash Response: While they're not against relocating rides short distances, I do worry that by the time they get it open it'll be due for it's next 10 year tear down. The Vortex \ Wipeout Response: Village are big fans of installing attractions that are a bit of a downgrade to what Dreamworld had. The Rivals \ FOTWW Response: What theme could they give it that would fit the new RAL 4006 Traffic Purple paintjob? The Barnett response: How long you reckon it'll take them to do up all 32 seatbelts? The Maloney response: Can't wait for 10 minute load times Ok, i'm starting to scrape here - anyone else? -
