  1. My pass expires at the end of June, and without further announcements of something MAJOR, i don't intend on renewing either. VRTP have definitely managed to keep my loyalty during the time i've had a pass. I can't see any reason why I won't be renewing my VIP. (well... i'll get a discovery pass next time around... but for all intents and purposes... same thing as far as i'm concerned.
  2. Ahh, the importance of punctuation...
  3. I'm going out on a limb to say the 'video' referred to is just the surveillance and monitoring cams that have been inside the themed pillars so that the operator could monitor all cabins... and not a 'purchaseable video experience'
  4. it is a shame they've gone to 'fully enclosed', but in todays litigious climate it's understandable. I remember in the old days when the only thing keeping you in was a white plastic chain...
  5. Rean... your joke was about the D. Rappa's was about the V... max...
  6. So since there hasn't been any action on the boards in a few days, I thought i'd pose a question after noticing some strange familiarities in Dreamworlds new advertising campaign. Dreamworld's new campaign - 2013 "Where in the world is there too much fun for just one day" http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=3eDI92t7YGw Australia's Wonderland Campaign - 1987: "too much fun to have in one day" http://www.youtube.com/embed/uxgcCTBCUFk
  7. Oh God... somebody come up with some more info on this attraction before we inceptualise the world.
  8. And maybe if you read ALL the posts, you'd realise it was already raised and corrected.
  9. Whoa there now... I never suggested they WOULD take it out... They won't just remove something because it's no longer needed (take a look at Dreamworld!). THe bridge still serves a purpose - it isn't just a defunct structure that isn't used by anyone... but... with the lake being filled in - it's a bridge without a purpose, and freeing that up would allow them to open up the area around these major attractions a lot better, perhaps even with room for concessions, maybe even another small flat somewhere in the mix... But don't just remove it because its old. Remove it because you have plans to develop the land it uses!
  10. Much as it is an historical part of the park's history, the medieval bridge between flume and viper is very quickly outliving it's usefulness. Apart from it being a picturesque location for wedding photos in April... there isn't much use for it anymore as the paths running underneath it remove the need for people to cross it at all - as a matter of fact, you have to go out of your way to cross it these days... time for it to go, i think...
  11. It's already impossible for Ardent to throw a sunway. Sunway installed one attraction after it purchased the park... and it was a used one at that. Dreamworld have already purchased several attractions under Macquarie Ardent... so it's now impossible.
  12. Rappa - I disagree on one point there - Tiger Island is great, but it isn't the only 'decent' thing left... I know it isn't original, but they've done a pretty fantastic job to take what is at best a bunch of carnival style attractions (as well as some existing ones) and turned them into three new lands! (We'll completely ignore the fact that those 3 lands used to be ONE world, and it's mainly cosmetic)... but I guess if you look back at Wonderland with the loss of the HB license, they went with a generic kiddies land - Little Wonders Land... yes it was joke. Most rides just had their previous signage removed, and a new generic name put up. When Nick left Coomera, they could have just generically themed the old Nick Central - but i'm pretty impressed with what they've done there - its a cohesive theme with good attention to detail. I'd say the Dreamworks area is on par with some areas of Universal. Sure, the attractions aren't as grand - but it is a kiddie area afterall.... It's just what lies outside the Dreamworks Experience that's gone to shit. The park obviously had to follow strict guidelines to install Dreamworks... all they need to do is follow suit with the rest of the park - not all at once (god knows it's expensive) but if they took to an overhaul makeover of one 'world' a year, it wouldn't be long before DW was back in good form.
  13. A review of the courts reports suggests this hasn't been heard yet, or was otherwise dismissed.
  14. Reanimated - he's ignored you remember? He can't see your responses... Alien Vs Predator eXperience is what it stands for... Oh wait - i'm on the ignore list too.
  15. 1) Yes you can, but a lot different to having it roaring at high speed right past the animals... a loud noise 200 metres away is a lot better for the animals than a loud noise 10 metres away. Having said that - for people, i don't consider it 'too loud'. Is it loud? Yes - but what do you expect for that type of ride? It happens for about 10 seconds, and then theres 3-5 minutes silence before it happens again... it's not like it's a constant noise that impedes your ability to communicate.
  16. And this is why having schmancy fancy flash versions of their park maps is a bad idea... You have to update your park maps when things change... but because all of the graphics and imagery are different in the flash version, you've got to get someone to do it - you can't just upload a new image (the same one you gave to the printers)....
  17. Yes, but the plaintiff's case is that she didn't know she could get stuck, and when she did, she didn't know that someone wouldn't come down right behind her and smash into her. that is her reason for suing.
  18. Big Drop? Aren't we allowed to call it giant now that theres one bigger? In relation to where they placed ToT... where else (given it's length) would you have them place it? It's been one of it's trademark attractions since it went in, and love it or hate it, it's still popular today. There is nowhere else you could have put this without infringing on the park's theme in some way... and before you suggest run it down the parks left boundary (toward Big Brother) then that Super Hornet on heat would be scaring the bejesus out of the animals. Not to mention that because there is an attraction load station at EACH end, you'd be putting one of those stations at the far reaches of the park. It may not 'fit' with the original theme, but it's the only place you could put it. It does detract from the view - but rather than call for it's location to be moved - why not hide it like they did with the station house infront of KFP land?
  19. Interestingly, the map available on the current version of themeparks.com.au doesn't have constrictor???
  20. Did you even read the previous pages?
  21. And realistically - does Dreamworld want to try and compete with MW by putting a coaster up against Arkham - a coaster that is pushing 20 years? I think they'd be better trying to compete with Green Lantern... something that they have yet to achieve.
  22. That's an awesome angle! That really shows the breadth of the footprint this baby is going to eventually have!
  23. I think you'd be OK with Buzz-Saw... my fiance says it depends on what 'brand' size 22 you're talking about. If its a target 22, thats a bit different to an Autograph 22. Scooby, MDMC and Claw are almost certainly out. Others really depend on how you carry the weight. Arkham should be alright because the new restraints differ from the old ones. GD will be a squeeze, but it makes you feel more secure. RoadRunner is most likely out as well. Unfortunately, except for Claw and MDMC, most attractions don't have 'test seats' for you so the only way to find out is to line up for them. Some of these rides just need to hit the first click... but others need to hit a certain amount of clicks, AND the cabin needs to balance. If the cabin is too heavy, or too heavy to one side, it will not launch - so if you fit in Giant Drop, try sitting as close to the centre of the cabin. If you're with someone who doesn't tend to have a lot of issues with the harnesses, then get them to wait until you've sat down and locked in, so that they can 'give it a shove' or help you do your seatbelt up before they do their own. My partner isn't a 22, but does need a shove on some of the tighter ones to make sure it locks in. She's still a little bit of a chicken on some, so prefers to feel 'more locked in' anyway. One word of advice though - take a reasonably comfortable (not super deep) breath before you 'shove' it... if you've totally exhaled, you won't be able to breathe, and if you take a super deep breath, it may not lock in. hope this helps.
