  1. I think we're probably over-analysing this fun little poll contest a little too much... Was cited by TPWW in their AW Vlog, so it does sound like it's permanent.
  2. Exactly. So for all the reasons it does make sense to put it there, the negatives of having two rides and a stage at the entrance isn't the worst thing in town. When you sum all of the parts involved here, it's still the right move.
  3. I started out ready to refute all this, and then thought about the Disney comparison (which everyone says isn't a fair comparison but still, they're the leaders so...) and the Weenie concept to draw people further in. The castle, the mountains... etc etc. and I have to admit that it's true... Then i thought about Movie World sticking batwing, Justice League, Green Lantern and DC Rivals all on the same 3m wide pathway. Soon we'll have Superman and Surfrider at the end of the same TWO metre wide pathway, with a potential shortcut connection to WOO land as well. (Oh, and theres not a single F&B outlet, and only one merch outlet within that entire footprint as it stands right now.) After considering this, I realised that adding a wave swinger to the fountain isn't the end of the world. ...And unlike Sky Voyager, Justice League and Rivals, you don't have to practically join the queue to recognise if the line is long and decide you should just go elsewhere for now. (Also, the show-stage and the critical photo point are one and the same thing so you can't really count both at the same time)
  4. I agree it'd be nice to have more 'on balance' comparisons but as pointed out, we don't have that many. If you were building a 'all stars' lineup, and you had to choose one of these choices - even being all different - which would you want in your 'dream team' - and when you consider it in that light, it doesn't matter if they're all different, it still prompts you to choose which one you want for the park.
  5. Agreed - we got a ride during the Carnivale fireworks and it was sensational - they need to find every excuse to run that thing at night.
  6. Jesus christ thats three threads in a row of you shitting on Dreamworld. tell us how you really feel?
  7. Laying it on a bit thick there old chap... Not every ride has to be a blockbuster e-ticket. That was where Movie World went wrong - building all the big rides it was sorely in need of a number of well balanced flats to round it out for quite some time. Dreamworld had a great roster of non-coasters (until several of them were removed) and they need to rebuild and balance. They're not going to win if all they do is build $30M coasters - and I don't think anyone else - fan of the park or not - has said that a wave swinger is a bad decision.
  8. As for why... because they didn't own the rights to it. They had permission to use the theme... until they didn't anymore.
  9. I remember Bounty's Revenge used to do that - test cycle right at like 9:58am or so so everyone lined up waiting for the gates to open was watching it. it was a nice shot flying over the top of the entrance gates
  10. HAHA! I completely ignored the SE helix and figured you meant WOO. d'oh!
  11. I think Wedgie has been out a while since it's both poor capacity and uses the same slide stairs \ queue. i actually think it was a covid thing originally but not sure what it's current status is. 2&3 have an issue. one that caused an injury. not sure what the plan is for it but it probably needs to be modified to prevent further injuries.
  12. OR Just like when SW removed the train from the map.
  13. Because they're probably renting it \ pay per use, and they've brought it in to fill a gap while so much is under refurb. Heck, Soarin' brings back the 'Over California' film for the DCA food and wine festival, and only runs it for a limited time so maybe it isn't a cost thing and just a 'do something different' thing. Even if you consider the entire queue plus ride experience takes 30 minutes, this just doubled the experience time as you can ride twice with two different experiences in your day.
  14. Besides the removal of the lift hill footings, not much has changed since August.
  15. Just like when Sea World removed the monorail from the map.
  16. A lot of things are possible. A stratocoaster on The Spit is possible. I prefer what's practical.
  17. Perhaps the roof could be cantilevered so that it can open in the event of an emergency quickly allowing all the smoke to escape in one go (and they can install fire sensors in the eyes of the cars too) He is right that venues have fire systems that you can use haze with. I feel as though he might not be right about how hard it might be to do it for scooby - as given the level of investment they've made, I feel as though we'd have seen more smoke\haze in the room with the lighting upgrade if it were possible not that hard to do so. It is very apparent that there is some sort of obstruction preventing them from easily increasing the haze level in that room.
  18. The southern yellow pine the bushbeast was made from was all chemically treated and the entire structure was buried in a toxic disposal site. The main timbers found in that area are either: the "water trough" theming throughout goldrush that was hurriedly removed overnight one day after a length of trough fell on a guest. (Goldrush certainly looked different after that!) Snowy River elements - when the turntable was decommissioned, many of the conveyor \ kicker elements in and around the station were also removed to make way for the steel rails and gates. a lot of the 'tube facing' elements were made of timber, and i've seen some of these in that location also.
  19. A couple of 'water projectors' in the queue area that they turn on when running the underwater program would be a really nice touch though. SEA Voyager anyone?
  20. From what I recall, heavy smoke \ fog \ haze isn't an option for scoob these days due to certain safety requirements. (i'm not an expert, just paraphrasing what i've heard). The install as it currently stands would look fucking amazing with a bit more, but it isn't practical to do so. At the very least, in a smoke-less world, the current install does better than the laser because the beams need less particulate in the air to actually be seen. Well shit, chalk up another thing you're an expert in. Between turnstiles and haze machines you've got the market cornered. And since you can do it, it must mean that anyone can!
  21. I did mention it was from 1999. Apologies for the confusing wording - what I meant was, if you go to that site, there are a few other shots that are later than the 1999 one (2001-2002ish) that show the volcano, but the 1999 shot was the clearest shot of the volcano.
  22. yeah look - this is just being blown up way too much. It depends on your perspective. it seems pedantic, but i'm conscious of a couple of things. we're well aware the parks read the forums 'an acid trip' comes off with negative connotations. Even sans drug references. I wouldn't have used the term, with or without connotation, as I didn't feel that it warranted the description. I'm on record that the lighting design in that room is absolute quality. The varying scenes \ patterns offer re-rideability that has never been offered previously, and I like it. It's one of the few positive changes MW has made to that attraction since it opened. It's a disco. dance party. MXPX kinda lends itself to that sort of theme too. People read these forums before visiting to get an idea of what they might experience, so I guess I just felt that I should counter what I felt was an exaggeration of what the experience is like. That's all. Nothing more, nothing less. And certainly not warranting this entire page of replies. It's equivalent to if I said "if you call MDMC a thrill ride, you obviously don't know what thrill rides are."
