  • Hi all, long time reader, first time poster here. I’ve always loved Movie World and feel very lucky that we have it here in Australia. But I have to say, I’m really disappointed in the current state o

What do you think IS masterclass about the mini-land's execution? I'm interested to know why you disagree. I should be more specific with my opinions. I think the story, theme and name of the min

I had this conversation the other day with somebody.  Why should management shoot themselves in the foot for the entertainment of their guests? There is little incentive for a park like Movie Wor

Besides the fact that the Justice League make an appearance and you shoot a gun they're pretty different. 🤔

So, as I interpret it, a clone in the theme park world is something with a identical or near identical design.

Eg Vekoma SLCs, or the Transformers rides at the Universal parks.

But I mean aside from sally designing both they're clearly not clones @Dean Barnett

You wouldn't say Superman at SFMM and Superman at MW are clones, would you? (Despite both being Intamin launch coasters)

So why here?

In terms of differences:

Our JL has 4 person standard cars, shorter layout, and a storyline based around Starro invading,

The Six Flags JL has 6 person cars with a full motion base, a longer layout and a storyline about Lex Luthor and Joker kidnapping the Justice League.

I think the only similarities' is the preshow room is obviously the hall of justice, and the load station has a similar look with Cyborg, but beyond that every scene and set is different.

FWIW there's another JL dark ride at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi and its even more sophisticated than the Six Flags one and also not a clone.

Justice League Alien invasion at movieworld probably has more in common with the legoland lost kingdom rides sally built previously than it does justice league battle for metropolis.

The whole WB park in Abu Dhabi is mind blowing. They probably spent more money building the street scenes for the metropolis area than the cost to build all the other Justice Leagues combined.

Best part is, being indoors the upkeep has got to be drastically reduced. Leaves a lot of scope for neat little things like the ceiling lighting changes so the sky reflects the time of day (even weather) that you couldn't hope to do outdoors.

Check out the ceiling changing and the projections used just in the sky (let alone on the buildings) during the show in the plaza. The harry potter sequences in particular are world class.

Forget about their rides, Im 100% jealous of their sets and the performances!

I got a ticket to WB AD just because it was so cheap after getting a Ferrari World ticket - anyway yeah it's mindblowing. Every attraction would be a E ticket at any Disney park. MWGC should really just pickup one of their rides and copy it. Any single ride. Heck even the Disk'O was a highlight.

Then after that theres a sneaky Kuka Robocoaster hiding in a corner. Insane.

From nothing but a quick Google, WB Abu Dhabi is said to have been designed by the Thinkwell Group (same people that worked on the Wizarding World at IoA), so if they were to truly replicate portions of or themes in that park, completely setting aside money or weather, wouldn't they have to license designs from/consult them about it first?

Those costs would be nothing in comparison to the Kuka ride system which

The recent reviews of movie world on google are absolutely scathing with all the current unexpected ride closures.

Been going to movie world regularly for the last 20 years and never seen it this bad.... I wonder if it is staffing related or COVid related ( in terms of getting parts etc needed for repairs)

People are unhappy but still buying tickets so the park has no reason to worry. It’s the Qantas approach to customer service!

The fact that there isn’t any Theme parks (THEME being the emphasised word) with a cohesive theme and experience in the whole country, unless you count dreamworld, which is more on the Amusement side (although it’s a quality park), means that MW can do whatever the hell they want it terms of guest experience. The GP in most cases don’t know anything that’s any better, so the company still carries on with the $100 price tag, not caring about the quality they’re providing, cause people STILL go.

This has more or less just devolved into a rather unfocused dumping ground for random issues and improvements at Movie World. And mega topics are the worst, so time to close this one.

If you notice something wrong (or improved) at the park, then start a new topic to discuss that particular thing.
