From past soft openings, they will work on the attraction in the morning and open after lunch.

Thanks. Hopefully the rain stops by then because there’s a lightning warning and all outdoor attractions are closed

Good to know it's at least running sometimes. I might swing by on Monday when I'm driving up to Bris if I get good reports about the chances of being open, and if the weather isn't hellacious.

I think we can trust staff not to stop the car mid-track, get off and go waltzing through the ride envelope.... plus they probably wouldn't be able to unlock themselves without the assistance of someone off-ride...

Does anyone know if Jungle Rush opened today at all? 

Based on Ogre's Video, it looks like the train travels over the same section of track twice, so it ends up facing the opposite way each time it returns to the station. I wonder then, if when they run two trains you might only do that first section once and return to the station facing the way you started? That would probably be smart during peak seasons to ramp up your throughput, at the expense of a shorter ride experience.

Could mean we get a different ride experience depending on when you go?

i’d assume the seatbelts are either just for children or so guests don’t hop out of the cars during the ride, which would make sense to have them there since there is a lot of water effects (with one section driving over the water.)

From the pictures, the seat belts look like standard seat belts that you find in the family car.  If they are, it means you can unlock them yourself.  Only half the cars currently have them but we can assume the other half will be installed before the ride opens.

The vintage cars have long been driven by little kids who slide forward on the seat to reach the pedal.  I even have a picture of me driving a car the same way.  (the seat are deep for kids)

I'm just interested if this practice will continue.  And if the kids will still be allowed to slide forward to reach the pedal.  If the belts are allowed to be worm loosely, the kids could just climb out, making the seat belt a waste of time.

The seat belt also currently sits on top of the bar which means a child could slide under the belt or climb out of it.

 

 

As I said these are still being installed and the positioning might change but it is a little interesting to see how they will work.

Absolutely. Because of the turntable, they can essentially change how long the ride experience is. During peak times they’ll operate with two trains and a shorter ride time, but in quieter they can run the ride on a longer program or some where in the middle. If they really wanted to, they could load one train and have it going around the track all day without coming into the station.

Greg Young did say there are multiple things they can do with this coaster so the possibilities are endless so to speak.

I was there from 10 till 3 and asked staff at around 2:45 and they said it wouldn’t open. Not surprised today was actual hell for me haha. Even the arcade began to flood through the doors, reaching about 5cm in.

Might be a thing for kids… Riders under 10 must wear it maybe?

…or even moreso kids under 5

We saw pictures a week or so ago of a petrol powered car, with a big electrical box on the side. It's a reasonable assumption that in addition to headlights for the cave section, the seatbelts would be electronically locked. I hear what you're saying about kids sitting forward in the seat, and I don't have an answer for that, but it seems reasonable that if they're installing seatbelts in this age, and have a huge power box on the rear, that the seatbelts would be lockable by the operator.

DW's teaser showing people on ride clearly showed cameras mounted on the train, so they've definitely shot it. A bit poor they didn't have it out at soft open, but i'm sure we'll see it by official opening day.

I don’t think we’ll see a full on-ride POV for a while, if ever from the park. I think they want to keep it as a surprise and since they can operate the ride in different modes the POV would only show one version of the rides offering. And as a lot of the ride is in the dark the POV probably wouldn’t do it justice.

@Ogre next time you head through JR, can you see if you can try film the coaster through the windows in the jewel room? Curious how they look.

A lot of non-enthusiasts watch POVs online to see if they\their kids would be comfortable riding it. I understand the variation on the cycles, but I think it's a big miss for them to not release a POV - even if it's captioned with some explanation that the cycle may differ.

Has anyone visited today to see what is happening in Rivertown?

Do we feel the 'dark ride' portion of JR is a hit or a miss? That's probably the only thing so far that seems a bit meh. But like most of us, I am yet to actually see what is in there.
