Test at night shows DW are behind schedule.   Let's hope they can get it open.

Not necessarily. Given the circumstances of work required to be carried out on MM and theming/landscaping within the envelope, it’s safe to say night testing would’ve always been planned to take place.

I remember the first tests of ST were always done around 5pm onwards or on weekends whilst no work was required to be carried out within the envelope.

Refer to my previous reply. Completely normal

being behind in construction, isn't smart management @Levi  It's poor planning.

I guess time will tell on this one… I had a good look at the area over the weekend and a lot of the work left to do shouldn’t take more than 50 days

What are the chances of a soft opening to iron out any kinks with the new rides?

I’m confident we’ll see staff having a ride mid-December, and a soft open to public December 23/24.

Although I’ve seen a lot less from MW myself as it’s harder to get any vantage points, my gut feel is WoO will beat DW to open by a few weeks

Looking at the site, it's pretty apparent that's the case.

Or unless you planned it that way to make a timeline set by the project overall...

Leviathn's testing was completed at night because SW was behind schedule, and we all remember how that opening turned out.

:Gasp: Village would never!

You don't know that.

And neither do you, we're all just speculating here. Nobody is going to front up and say they're working on the project so the best we've got is guesses - some will be optimistic, some won't.

If the ride opens on boxing day then IDGAF.

At least, the night works show they're pushing to try and hit the deadline, instead of changing the date on their billboards six times.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Why are we still comparing NA opening/delay to JR?

NA was delayed due to a global pandemic and DW has already played the weather card 8+ months before the end of the year’s opening.

Let’s just wait to see if it opens in December.

I'm unsure as to why you would plan it this way? It puts an unnecessary strain on the general workforce, plus costs more, maybe that's why they couldn't afford new Vintage Cars anymore? Is it worth pulling operations staff, maintenance staff and other stakeholders out of the park, to have them on an alternate shift?

Like what they've done for Motocoaster for example?

Huh? Murrissippi Motors is brand new? And they’ve bought new vehicles that are electric and will keep riders in the car so they can’t jump out.

Why are we assuming that DW is paying extra for night works?

Isn't JR build contracted out? Wouldn't the company who picked up the job be paying extra to meet the deadline they promised DW, not the other way around?

Greg confirmed in the latest earnings call that they're reusing the old vehicles now, and have only purchased two new ones for the accessibility ones.

DW would be paying, because it's their staff doing the commissioning. It's their choice to move it to after hours...

Not saying you’re wrong, but I can’t find anything in the FY24 presentation that states this?

The website does still say they’re getting new cars too

I think that's short sighted view of potentially complex contractual agreements that no doubt have penalties for missing timeframes.

The operator is the one to commission the attraction. Regardless of how you look at it, would you not agree that having to do this process in the hours in which they are, would not have been their first choice?

@ShakeShack It is astounding just how many assumptions you make considering no one here actually knows what their plans were or are.

This doesn’t clearly say they’re using the old cars at all. Until it’s in writing, i’d say it’s safe to assume we are still getting the new ones listed on the website and mentioned multiple times.

Oh you mean like this one where Greg says they're building 2 custom vehicles? Does that mean we're only getting 2 vehicles on track?

If you're building all new vehicles, you're not "retheming" something, are you? It would be new, so why would it be mentioned. Same goes for completely "rebuilding" them. If they're new, you're not rebuilding anything.

No assumptions here mate, just going off what I've heard/been told/seen in pressers.

See above.

If you're building something new, are you rebuilding? If you've bought something new why are you "retheming"?

Earlier in the year as I've stated, he says they're happy to announce they're building 2 NEW custom vehicles for accessibility. If you've purchase more than 2, why are you not spruiking that more than only mentioning 2 vehicles?

The government has plans to knock down the Gabba and rebuild it. Is it a new stadium or just a refurb?

Completely different situation.

If you're saying BRAND NEW VEHICLES, then they are new, from the ground up, not rebuilt. Are you saying that Dreamworld are that incompetent they've bought new vehicles with the wrong theme, and are needing to retheme them on site? If not, why would you mention "retheming"?

Maybe people here need to google the definitions of new and rebuilt.

New - produced, introduced, or discovered recently or now for the first time; not existing before.

Rebuilt - Any broken parts are replaced with new or reconditioned ones, however, parts that are still within the manufacturer's specs are reused.

Let’s just wait til it opens and see I guess
