Leviathan Retracking

Featured Replies

I was lucky enough to get on Leviathan yesterday and do the backwards seats a few times when I noticed that there are 4-5 massive timber pallets sitting behind Leviathans station building! Does this mean that VRTP are actually serious about upkeeping the ride properly and maybe improving the smoothness (or as the gp says 'ricketiness') in a few spots. I don't think the ride has been under maintenance since Nov/December last year so I wonder when we will slowly see parts retracted. Looking through aerial imagery suggests it arrived around December last year.

It's been probably around a year since I last rode it and there are definitely a few new potholes/jolts. It still is one beast of a coaster but the 'I need to see a physio after riding' somewhat makes it unrideable.

Most recent aerial imagery I could find from late December 2025 (and there's a lot more than what I could see)

Comparing 2024 to 2025 imagery it looks like they've started to tidy up that dumping ground behind the shed beside leviathan. I think most of this is new as they only had a couple pallets stored there.

The more I look through imagery the more confusing it becomes stuff is being moved around constantly, I've got no clue and they could've just been moved there.

I thought it was open because of Carnivale?

Wooden coasters need wood replacement all the time. It is stock standard upkeep for those rides. Leviathan is not getting retracked 3 years after opening

It definitely won’t be getting retracked yet, being such a new ride and all. However, considering its location being right on the water and all the extra wear and tear that would cause on the track, I imagine it could happen sooner rather than later.

I think it's important to be explicit on exactly what we're talking about here.

Saying a wooden rollercoaster is getting 're-tracked' implies that the entire course is being replaced. This is a rare event and certainly not one that would happen so soon after opening unless the ride had some devastating construction flaw.

Spotting pallets of timber stacked up next to the ride - entirely normal. The park employs a carpenter (or at least, they advertised a full time role specifically to maintain the coaster prior to opening), and the ride is constantly having pieces replaced. The entire ride is walked regularly (if not daily) and loose, damaged, rotting or worn timbers are replaced as they are found. I can't speak for Leviathan but I know on older woodies it's not unusual during the morning track walk to hear hammering as the chippy puts more nails into a board to re-secure it prior to the start of operations.
