Just been told by Clare Bear that Thunder Lake Stunt Show's Final Show will be on The 31st of this Month!

What’s concerning about this is the website says ‘Following an incredible seven-year run, the Thunder Lake Stunt Show will conclude on 31 August as we explore opportunities for Ski Lake’s future’. So as part of the companies cuts, does this mean there isn’t going to a lake show at all (or at least got a while)?

If there was a forthcoming show surely they’d just say something along the lines of “Thunder Lake Stunt Show is closing August 31st to make way for an exciting new show coming soon!” Pretty concerning they only vaguely mention ski lakes future.

I visited the park shortly after they first announced Thunder Lake was ending and I asked a staff member if a new show would replace it? I was told there “won’t be anything for quite a while”. So yeah, yet another casualty of the cutbacks it seems.

Wasn't thunder lake put together by the ShowTime guys the same as HWSD2? Seems just like it's end of contract and it wasn't renewed, rather than being specifically cut....

Let's face it, the company has been rocked by embezzlement issues, they're looking to tighten belts. I don't think this is the end of SW lake shows, they just have other things to focus on right now.

@Brad2912 It doesn't matter who's left. The lake should always be the centrepiece of SW's entertainment.

The fact that SW was built on the foundations of a ski show tells you everything you need to know about how far Village has fallen.

Based on the difference in crowd numbers between VRTP and CE’s properties recently, I’d say most people have forgotten (or simply no longer care) about those old headlines. It’s honestly pretty incredible how VRTP were basically handed victory as the #1 theme park operator after TRR happened, yet through their constant mismanagement, they’ve now become the company with the bad reputation and falling crowd numbers, while CE have managed to regain theirs. Village had absolutely every opportunity to succeed, but they threw it all away.

Village started the race with a head start, a tailwind, and DW tied to the starting blocks and somehow they are getting lapped.

I don't believe people have forgotten, and I don't believe it's a case of 'not caring' either. I think it is more a case that the park has earned people's trust.

As the saying goes - Trust is built in drops and lost in buckets.

Coast has put in a lot of hard work to refill those buckets, and they are being rewarded for treating their customers right.

I've been saying for years that nothing would change until people voted with their wallets. Now that that is happening, BGH\Village are learning the hard way why you shouldn't ignore the customer experience.

I don't think it's so straightforward as that. Michael produced multiple shows in-house at Wonderland, Movie World and Sea World. While some of them I found a bit corny, they were all quite successful.

The outsourced contractors didn't come until much later, and I feel it is unfair to attribute this change to his leadership - as it was more likely a financial decision from higher powers.

Theme parks often mix internal creative teams with outside producers, performers, choreographers, production companies, and specialists, so using contractors alone wouldn’t indicate poor management.

Oookay, here's my hot tip(s)..

SW Ski show is toast. On a very recent visit, you can easily see why (the ski show) has past it's time.

There's a lot of space across the lak area, and the nostalgia critic in me, gives a fair reminder to keep in mind what makes Sea World Australia's oldest Theme Park. It's a tough call & one that makes me just think those in control will make the right decision
