right so I booked my flights and what not to australia for 8 Feb - 18 Feb 08. Thought it would be highly unlikely that the good rides at MW and DW would be down for schedule maintenance during the period - cos Id have to be pretty unlucky for that to happen! Emailed MovieWorld recently and word is that SE is scheduled for maintenance 4 - 15 Feb 08 which leaves me the weekends to ride SE which I imagine is going to be pretty busy! Damn! Always my luck for things to work out completely wrong! Do you guys reckon its worth getting a 14day superpass, visiting MW during the weekdays to do all the other rides while its relatively quiet and then return in the weekend just to do SE? Or should I just go in the weekend and bear all the extra foot traffic? The whole point of the trip was to take my younger brother to Aussie to do SE and Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster. Argh!

I think so. Just do Wet'n'Wild on the weekend, go over to MW and come back - on Saturdays it will be open late for the Dive In Movie anyway (closes after the movie does),

Thanks for posting that. My cousin is due to visit 8-15 Feb. I'll now tell him to wait. At least it'll be open when you visit so you should go for it.

Yea although Im told "it should reopen on the 16th but that could change for any number of reasons" Man I hope they either change the schedule for another date or make sure they DO open again on the 16th. Im so nervous now! 10 days for maintenance seems like a long period of time.

the more complex the ride is, the longer it takes to do an annual overhaul on it. In superman's case, the track itself wouldn't be the issue, moreso the launches, the themed areas, and the two trains themselves. It's not a concern that it is down for this long. Most coasters would have a weeks time out. Two trained coasters normally take less time than one, because they can have the first train ontrack before the finish the second one.

Just pray they have 2 trains going...... You wont be waiting long at all if there is 2 trains, even on the weekend

A lot of rides go MIA in February as its just after school holidays. The parks deem this to be the most suitable time to do a lot of their maintenance work. I know they usually drain the river rapids at DW then because of the work out it gets over the summer.

Just letting everyone know that these dates haven't changed and that they have now been posted on the myfun website.

Also... much to everyones surprise... Weekends are often the QUIETEST days for the parks too...
How exciting for me. Most of my trip will be throught the duration of the SE closure. Is it typical that SE is likely to be closed for the entire 5-15th, or does past experience show that they allow 10 days but only take 5 days (for example)? Or are they required to have the ride closed for that period of time even if maintenance finishes early?
