^Same goes for me, I should have considered what I was saying and did not mean to appear thoughtless and/or uncaring. My thoughts go towards his friends and family.

It's still about a year away but should be fairly decent when finished and include a new cinema, even if it is only Dendy

Looks interesting however not really something that fits in with the local area for looks. Will say it will look better than what it is replacing.

There's a large population of Indians and Asians in the area so I would say they're making it to attract more of them and get their money. 

 

I guess it's like the coomera development, doesn't fit now but will in a few years.

The article makes it sound as if there is actually a rumor that disneyland is coming to melbourne.......which there isn't.....
In reality all they are discussing is the possibility of building a themepark in melbourne; kinda what we do on these forums haha. Which in my opinion is completely plausible. A themepark in Melbourne can work; either seasonal or year round. The weather argument is not even valid. Both Funfields and Adventure Park (both basically outdoor waterparks) operate seasonally, yet can both break attendance records every year, continue to invest in more rides/slides and grow successfully as a business.

After a quick google search, the size of the mickey's wheel is about right in that crudely photoshopped image. Mickey's Fun Wheel is 49m tall, The Melbourne Star is 120m tall. So mickey's should be just under half the size of the star. As for those loops though!?!?!

I know it's not directly theme park related but I just saw this video from the new One World Observatory in New York City. The elevator ride up has to be the best I've seen anywhere in the world.

Haha, or one of the worst I've seen if you're an elevator phobe like me. Yeahhhh no thanks! I find the one in Q1 hard enough to swallow when I do occasionally get dragged up there with family. The less I see, the better ???

My wife is claustrophobic and we went up Q1. About half way some smart ass goes "has anyone seen 'Speed". It was all I could do to stop there being a murder!

Yeah, that Q1 lift is special. Went up the original WTC towers before and after the 93 bombing. They were pretty cool buildings. However, there was a noticeable increase in security between the two trips.

Finally got around to watching this small documentary from a fellow Aussie about coasters.

It was really enjoyable to watch, and I'm a little surprised how there were so many emotional moments relating back to theme parks and coasters.
