After hearing numours advertisements of this years Odyssey 09 NYE event on the radio i straight away assumed this being Dreamworlds event for the past 2 years what will the park be doing for this years event. But i was shocked to find that not one word was mentioned about Dreamworld and then found that the event this year is going to be held at Carrara sports complex. I then found this small peace of insight on the website. After careful consideration and analysis of our previous events, the Odyssey team made the informed decision to upgrade venues and take up residence this year at Carrara Sports Complex; a short 10 min trip down the road from its old stomping ground at Dreamworld. We received substantial feedback from patrons who attended Odyssey at Dreamworld and discovered that the cramped conditions of the theme park was mainly an inconvenience to most party goers. It was also noted that there was not enough room for revellers to get a good view of their favourite bands and really soak up the live entertainment- the key element which makes Odyssey such a spectacular night! And with this year's intense superstar line up featuring the likes of internationally acclaimed Aussie rock gods Jet, as well as big names Eskimo Joe, Grinspoon, The Butterfly Effect, Bliss n Eso, Phrase, Malente and Sam La More (with more to be announced), it was imperative that we amplified the space in which we hosted such an event to ensure we could fit everyone in! Regardless of the venue change, we are still keeping with past tradition by continuing to strive for value-for-money with an all inclusive ticket which includes all your drinks, amazing fireworks displays and a cracker line up. We have not changed our winning transport system either which has assisted so may attendees in getting from A to B at past Odyssey events. Here at Odyssey, we too agree with our patrons that there's nothing like thrill-seeking, fun rides to help celebrate such a joyous occasion like New Years Ever. It is for this reason that we have have added a range of amusements to light up the grounds at Carrara Sporting Complex and thus add to the overall atmosphere of this winning event. Whether you want to be swung around gently, whisked through the air or turned inside out and upside down, there will be a ride for everyone's tastes at this years Odyssey. Do you think it was a wise move to change locations??? My opinion a let down seeing the atmosphere at the park would be so much better and allowing for more feature attractions like the big thrill rides.

I guess, I mean if it is $150 a ticket then most of your money is going on the bands, and not on the rides, hence you want that aspect to be as good as possible. Nobody spends $150 just so they can go on DWs rides for new years.

Personally, Im glad to see it go. Ive been around for the last two Odyssey Events at DW, neither of which were much chop. Trashed people attempting to get on rides, causing mayhem for security, Urinating on any still object particularly shop fronts and sign posts etc., starting huge fights, Its just messy and chaotic. I think dreamworld will do just as well with their own NYE event, and will only have to deal with half the issues.

Anyone who ever worked Utopia at Wonderland can back that up...

Haha at Utopia, how WAS that? I couldn't go to Utopia this year due to age but next year definately .

Let's face it, if this event is going to be aimed at families then dreamworld are going to make more money due to the larger target audience.
