  • In a world where DW isn't on life support, it'd be nice to see a boat ride go back on there. Doesn't have to be a big paddlewheeler, I think that ship has kind of sailed but something more on a Jungle

  • I remember a time when the park had a real "magical" feel to it, it was something you couldn't put a finger on but it was there. I remember when mainstreet had working fountain and used it as a centre

  • That’s it. And then if you rebuild the Captain Sturt, it’s not travelling between three country themed lands anymore, you’ll have a 19th century paddle boat docking between a kid’s area, a fake boat,

I love reading all these realistic suggestions. From what I recall the ride is elevated so a boom lift can get under. For the cost of moving/lowering the ride, you could pay for some cosmetic improvements around the park, or pay for a new attraction at WWW, or buy a 2nd train for Cyclone or many number of other things. Motocoaster is done, it ain't changing now.

It's a shame they closed this ride. I was lucky enough to go on this ride a couple of years ago and it was a great relaxing ride. Change is inevitable but rides like this gives kids a chance to experience things from yesteryear. I believe it needed some updating like a show or action scenes as the boat travelled around. I'm glad now I took some video footage whilst riding on the Captain Sturt.

I saw the Captain Sturt today and it is in bad shape. The decks are covered in leaves and the wood is rotting. So sad that the Dreamworld I used to love is just getting more and more destroyed. The longer it is left abandoned the more expensive it will be to repair or even replace the old boat. Same with the Mine Ride...

Wow, this thread goes back along way. However Belinda Brown made a comment on a facebook post stating 'Captain Sturt may not be gone forever'.

She's technically right too. When all the wood rots there'll be not much left.

Loving all these ideas! A woddie at blue lagoon would be really cool... Or they could use the 'river' that Captain Sturt used to make a watercoaster, a bigger one than sea world's. Perhaps an intamin one or something

Yay, out of all the potential roller coasters Australia doesn't have yet, we should build a slighty bigger version of one that opened yesterday, but with smelly river water.

I'm kind of skeptical if the Blue Lagoon footprint would be a big enough for a Wooden Roller Coaster, I think that the unused space on the island in the centre of the Murrisippi River would be the perfect place for a Wooden Coaster, Australia sadly hasn't had a woodie since the closure of Wonderland Sydney. Anyone else agree?

I wouldn't develop the middle island. It's a good place for a Bushranger show if they ever got the Captain Sturt running again. There is plenty of room for a wooden coaster in Blue Lagoon (see pictures). A woody in that area will fit in with Gold Rush Country and Rocky Hollow. It would look great behind the Log Ride.

well at least they are getting rid of it rather then letting it rot. I think we will see something happening on the island soon.

there's little to no chance of anything happening on the island

and as much as i would like to see a wooden rollercoaster at dreamworld im willing to think we will never see a wooden rollercoaster in australia again
