The LED displays now show the time as people go down the slide, and once they cross the finish it stops and then shows their position

So just remind me -- only the slide itself has been replaced? The tower and support poles are exactly the same? I wonder why they did this. It wasn't the oldest slide in the world. Any ideas?

And it was leaking quite a lot under neath, the stairs were a bit dodgy in places, the slide was faded, and the position signs didn't work most of the time. So this refurbishment was definitely needed. I don't think there was anything wrong with the slide structurly, hence why it wasn't replaced, and instead the paint work was taken off (that also enabled them to check over it and replace any of it if needed).

So they basically just sandblasted the tower and all of the supports? That must have been a big job. I didn't see any scaffolding -- how did they get to it all? The steel underneath the blue paint has come out really well and looks like new, which is why I was confused. It seems that slide towers in particular are quite expensive as parks always do their best to re-use them or tack new slides onto them.

Slide completely installed now, workmen working on and underneath slide, looking like they were working on the pumps. New billboard and checkered flags too. Single LED displays have been installed at the base of the slide over each lane too. And there are new black mats for the slide

I was at the park on Tuesday and their was signage in front of the slide area stating that it would reopen mid December, which has clearly past, so not sure what the hold up could be.

I have also heard about guests receiving cuts to their feet at the joints in the slide....

The blades/scissors/knives in the waterslide story lives again!
