Love they despite us waiting for quite a long time for all this, they just announced everything at once, spent time to do up a video showing it all off. At first I wasnt a massive fan of the name itse

  • I reckon if they said how much it costs, the shareholders would shit themselves.

  • TPR have posted the preview onto there their YouTube channel! I must admit, I'm lowkey enjoying the jealously of those Americans/Europeans who are wishing it was built closer to them  nope! It's Austr

That's via the link you posted

Its since been corrected then. When I visited the site it said Worlds First also.

The video does also phase as "One of the worlds first"

Is this the first non inverted loop you can go backwards through?

Edit: Found it

I think it's funny that they even bothered to say 'one of' the world's first non-inverting loops in that ride video, might as well've said 'one of the world's first fuchsia coloured roller coasters' while they're at it.

Sorry, but not sure how to paste a screen shot.. but that is the text I am referring to.

As I visit the page even now, it still says 'world's first'

But anyway, it's not that important. It doesn't take away from how good it looks on the video. Will be planning a trip up north once it has opened.

Forgive me if this has already been answered/discussed, does anyone else think the backwards car will be an up charge? It's one thing to queue for the front when the rest of the train is facing forward anyway, but backwards is a totally different experience. At 2 pax a train queues would be enormous on even a moderate day.

Regardless - really stunning layout. This will be Australia's first true airtime machine.

I was thinking that, but then can't imagine the queue would be much more than the typical 'i'm waiting for the front seat' mentality - i do think in the first few months it will be mental.

Personally, since we know there is at least (most likely precisely) two trains, i'd like to have seen them do one train all forward two backward, and the second train all backward, two forward...

Yeah two backwards doesn't seem to be enough to what will likely be high demand, at least four I would have thought.

But anyway, there's probably technical reasons for that - two's better than zero!

That's a stupid idea tbh most people would be to scared going backwards.

4 would have been perfect

The best 2 seats of a Hyper are the back so has MW taken a big gamble here?

But what better way to set yourself apart in the industry? I'd sacrifice a traditional backrow for a backwards car any day - particularly on this calibre of coaster. The layout is ridiculous as is.

This is the marketing guru that came up with that name? Wow! Greg seems a little embarrassed

You mean chose the name? Judging from the picture of that game at the start of the thread, DC Rivals is already a thing.

Looks good - great POV. Can't wait to ride it.

Was the announcement implying that no other coaster had forward and backward facing seats on the same train?

Sorry, can't comment right now, I'm currently in the middle of re-watching the animation over and over again.

I actually think the name is perfect, I think the more "general" DC theme is going to work really well.

Backwards is quite a gamble, does that make it the world's first backwards hypercoaster? I know this sounds a little bit too much like push, but I think the intensity of back seat combined with going backwards could be a little too extreme for some people. I know Swarm backwards didn't get fantastic reviews. It's a little bit of a gimmick honestly, still I'm sure the GP will love it.

WRONG (at all the backseat is bad comments)

What do you do for the 6 months of the year this thing will run with one train?

Simple, if you don't like gimmicks, don't ride backwards. If you want the back seat ride, sit 2nd to the back row, it's pretty well exactly the same as indicated above.

Its a massive win and for the normal pack goer really high on the cool sale.

Excellent move for the park in my opinion.

Wait to see how many other parks order a new back row car.

Also what the hell is wrong with all you 'too intense' people. Are you coaster enthusiasts or not?

First of all huge congrats to MW for investing in what is now clearly a world class attraction that beats anything in Australia so far. It gives all of us something we have been calling for in this country for at least 15 years now. I think it's important to keep that in perspective.

But in terms of marketing, I am surprised they went from basically no teasers (apart from one email to members) to pretty much revealing everything. That seems strange to me when there is so much stuff they could have released slowly. Of course, this would have required them to start leaking out info much earlier than they did.

And I can't believe they have not relaunched Movie World's ancient, outdated, ugly and mobile unfriendly website to coincide with the announcement. To me that was the only justification for keeping the old site around for so long. All they've done is add a panel to the existing site! Craziness.

I'm not into gimmicks.  If they wanted to do a backward coaster they could have had a forward-facing Batman train and a backward facing Joker train.  What happens if everybody wants to ride backwards?

See, I thought that was a really good idea @Skeeta. Apparently the folks who built Tower of Terror, and Superman: Escape from Krypton also thought that turning the car around to give a backwards ride experience was a really good thing, but apparently we're all wrong, and

WRONG

I think, more than 2 people per train will want to go backwards and that’s why I want a full train to go backwards.  By only doing it to the back of each train looks like a cheap gimmick.
