Superman: Ride of steel

Featured Replies

Hear! Hear!! well, I'm glad it would seem that these are show scenes of the actual ride itself & not a long winding pre show as Batman turned out.. I'm so glad MW moved away from that style years ago.

I agree. From what I have heard, Superman is going to be Australia's best coaster and Movie World's best ride. What more could you want in a coaster? -excellent themeing -good story -smooth track -unique ride experience

Well yes 'there have been problems of late' with Intamin restraints but most of that is crap anyway. The only reason people fall out is because they have not been secured properly or have exceeded the restraints design. If you look at TOT there have been no problems with that system and Xcelerator has had no problems either. What is stupid is PP at Knotts has had harnesses retro-fitted to its cars whilst Xcel 250m away still has identical restraints :) The yankies are a bit stupid like that and given we have TOT here with no probs with its restraints we may well just get the lapbars (GREAT IMO). Im sure Mr Disney knows and we will all be enlightened once this goes public from the park.

Not to sure on which restraint I would like better should it be a OTSR style ride. I think that out of the picture above and the ones on Storm Runner, I would have to go with the SR style seen here.

I personally hope for no otsr.Storm Runners are some of the most uncomfortable restraints around. I agree with Djrappa the accident in New England was due to Human error more so than Intamins restraints. I did note the seats on S ROS at NewEngland were flat and elevated. The seats on Total thrill Dragster were bucket and the restraint wrap around you like the BM clamshell restraints. There's no way you're going to fall out.Thats what they should have. Could have Intamin panic over this and decide to use otsr for all their launch coasters i hope not.

R.I.T.A has opened with over the sholder seatbelts and reports say there is still lots of air time.

The main advantage I've read about RITA's OTSRs is that they give a bit more room to move than SR's, and they are more capable of accommodating....shall we say...."larger guests"

It would make it so much better if their wasn't any shoulder restraints. Can you imagine the outcry if they put shoulder restraints on Expedition G force or the Superman Ride of Steel Sixflags New England or even Dragster. There not needed.Intamin seems to be the only manufacture thats doing this.

TOT only needs lap bars because first you're sitting normally, and then you're practically lying down. It doesn't go face first into the ground like accelerator coasters.

I would LOVE to see an underground section on the new Superman ride. Would be great! Something new for Australia, well Queensland at least...not to sure if there are any underground sections at Wonderland?

Thanks Paul. Would be good to see some undergroud track tho. Perhaps from the drop of the TopHat? would certainly add something extra if the height is going to be as small as is rumored.

Well if the coaster is 50m high as we have heard of late then that's pretty good. I agree on the underground section after the top hat that would be good-they could have a nice head chopper there.

I was just wondering what has actually been confirmed for this ride other than it being an Intamin Launch. Is the height of 40/50m just a rumour?

What's all this talk about underground sections and 50m?

I was saying, on the previous page, that I would love to see the new Superman ride go underground A) because we don't have anything like that in Australia and B) it would add something extra to the ride if it were to be relatively small in height. As for 50meters, I'm unsure, I thought it was 40???

Well lately there have been rumours it will be 50m high. It's going to have to be fairly high if it goes at 100kmh.

see this is the problem with rumors. The first statement was a semi-official statement, saying a 40 metre top hat. The second statement was "possibly OVER 40 metres" The third statement, naturally, since its OVER 40 metres, means it must be 50 METRES... then everyone latches onto a conversation about it being 50 metres.... then someone will say its 50 or more then someone will say higher than 50... then someone will say its 60 metres.... and the whole process repeats itself...

I believe the rumor was derived from this post...

she said they should have the ride open early december. she said they had to modify the ride to suit every one needs. they even advised me it might be a straight up ride around 50mtres high and them comes back down. she advised me it will be the best ride they brought to the park
Thanks Ian for clearing this up.

It doesn't have to be that high if its going to reach 100 kph since Rita at AT only reaches a height of 30m. The height doesnt really bother me much since Accelerators look good at any height.

I have been speaking with customer relations dept at movieworld and it is true what i have said, I have been working with penny from movieworld who know what the rides is about and whats happing and it will be added as soon as we have more information comes avaiable. Also i will be getting photo's of where they are in construction and how far are they away from completing the ride and when its offical launch of the ride. As soon as more details are given they will be posted on this site.

Are you sure you're not just making it up like this post? I doubt the Movie World Customer Relations department would release information on forthcoming attractions.

The knowledge that the front line staff have about new attraction is minimal at best and they are still told to keep what they know hush hush from the public. Panther are you going to update us on this like you did in this thread? "The Bus is now leaving for Hush Hush Beach, Western Australia"
