Who honestly thinks Superman's queue is well themed though? It's a square room with a couple signs. Wild West's queue is probably the Gold Standard in Australia.

Also, Gremlins... was the cinema part of the 'ride', or a great pre-show?

The attraction was called 'Movie Classics & Gremlins' (or something like that, doesn't really matter). Given the preshow was part of the name of the ride I would argue it's part of it.

Question in regards to WWF queue...did the machinery ever move? And does anyone remember what the pre-show actually was and when did they stop it?

@joz I would say that even the queue for BuzzSaw was pretty good (excluding the tv flames), until they ripped it all out.

I am hoping for the day when they refurbish the Superman queue and make it truly feel like a subway station (and they install aircon)

The problem with a well themed superman queue is that train stations aren't pleasant places to be, so you can have the best themeing in the world, it'll still feel like you're somewhere you don't want to be. "Let's make the Superman queue more realistic, let's add the deep urine smell that train stations have!'

Buzzsaw's original queue was car parts in an old hot crampt shed. Actually juat thinking about it, the queues at DW are all pretty ordinary. Rocky Hollow's queue has a bit of charm to it is really all that can be said. The best queue in DW is probably Pandamonium, based purely off the fact that despite having little to no themeing, it does provide good views of the ride you're about to go on and it's not as slow as something like tailspin.

With MW I think most of the rides except Superman have decent enough queues. Even Green Lantern, as phoned in and in the sun as it is has the good views of the ride thing that Pandamonium has.

I wish more rides interacted with the queue. like the pass through the building for superman would be great if it passed through the queue building, and the launch was visible from the queue. Movieworld seems to really want the queue to be locked away from the rides, but then does little to try and entertain the people in the queue.

Can't speak for DW as its been years since I was there.

The idea of Superman is that you a catching a train, and the attack isn't expected, so the whole launch etc is to be a surprise (except that you walk under the launch track).

I could see that if this wasn't a rollercoaster, the advertising of it and whole point of it is to go fast and if it wasn't called Superman Escape.

The queue is boring. a pass through and viewing of the launch from the queue would make the queue tolerable.

It's like at least most of MW's rides are either well themed (SE and maybe AA), or have good views of the ride (GL and DCR to a lesser extent). Dreamworld usually goes for the former with their attempts at 'elaborate theming' that end up just flat out nonsensical. Theming is supposed to tell a story and DW's 'theming' on its rides don't do that and look like some scenery pieces in RollerCoaster Tycoon mashed together.

Basically all of TOT's mostly irrelevant theming is broken by now and the final section of the queue is one of the worst ventilated ride queues I've ever had to experience. HWSW crams you inside a spiraling tin can for no reason with a pointless toy car ramp inside as 'theming' to tick boxes with the sponsors, and has sections in a dark queue that are unnecessary. When the queues were swapped to the outside of the building, that was the best queue in all of DW as you were constantly in that view of the coaster, and the WWW slides that twist around the coaster. Buzzsaw's theming was like the previous two. A bunch of random objects plonked in a queue for no reason that failed to tell the ride's 'story'. Now I have yet to ride SV for myself but looking from the pictures sent here the queue looks like it actually somewhat tells a story. You queue inside an airport that will take you on a flight around Australia so this definitely is a marked improvement over their previous attempts.

As for views of the rides, this is one of the things smaller parks like AW do well. They don't go overkill on theming for the flats and slides but they give you some great views of the rides you are about to go on. Why not try something like that if they want to keep theming. I'd rather have a few scenery pieces on the rides like what AW does with Goliath or Kraken than the old Cyclone theming that was extensive yet unnecessary.

@Naazon I agree, I loved watching Rock n Rollercoaster launch at Disney Paris. Even the curtains in the window above 'moving' in the wind.

But showing the launch might not fit the attempted theme for SE.

From memory, part of that queue takes you through a recording studio and you hear them jamming. Then you see the coaster launch as you approach the station.

One of the best pre shows I've seen is the one on Hex at Alton Towers.

The pre show is just a short video on a screen, but it explains the whole concept of the ride experience perfectly. Without seeing the pre show the ride itself would make no sense whatsoever, but with it, it's a fantastic experience.

That's how important a really great pre show can sometimes be.

Haunted Mansions at Disney Parks. Now THAT is a Pre-show that's entertaining.

Anyway back on topic. With a tightening up of Operations and a few little amendments here and there, I reckon what DW have with SV can compliment the ride. They really just need to work on informing the GP better about the loading process with what they have, which in turn should speed up load time

Regardless, it is so fantastic to finally have a flying Theatre in Australia. The experience will easily become a favourite among GC Theme Parks.

Oh and those 'bumpy' motion effects are most definitely intentional! - you can tell because it is at the moments interrupted by likes of going through a Watrtfall and the Fireworks. The motion is for the most part smoothe and executes the sensation of 'swooping' downward beautifully - imo just as well as Soarin does! Those moments are truly thrilling! Seats are definitely smaller than Disney, but can still accommodate most larger guests.

The "mist" fx are perhaps not so convincing as they spurt out with a bit of a PSSST sound effect and some of the smells are a bit off (ie grapes smell like lolly grapes).. but what do real Grapes smell like anyway?

As a sound buff, I think the Audio is BRILLIANT and anyone who appreciates that kind of thing should really enjoy it. Also the Music Score is OUTSTANDING and frankly Disney quality. The soundtrack is emotional and powerful.

Sure the image quality could be sharper - which is still possible to achieve with upgrades as years roll by.

When the ride finishes, People even clap their hands - something I haven't seen in an Aussie Theme Park in years.

Sorry MW and SW but with SV I truly believe DW now have the best Show/family attraction, something for them to be very proud of.

I agree. With a relevant and entertaining pre show, and improved staff training so they understand the importance of the script  (I've heard them miss some vital parts), it really is a world class ride.

Loading can be easily improved by simply showing how to fasten the seat belts in the safety video.

It’s time to get a new hobby entirely or stop calling yourself a buff because the rides audio system is anything but Brilliant. It’s harsh, lacks punch or fidelity. There is a huge absense or bottom end also.

As for the soundtrack, I found it weak, detached, and definitely lacking of any emotion whatsoever.

Frankly I’m shocked at your comments about the same attraction I rode. I think the whole system has SOO much potential to be amazing but the audio is 100% one or its weakest links.

To say score is Disney quality would be like saying a Micro droves like a Ferrari... incredibly off bass.

Fair points @djrappa but from an Australian Theme Park perspective, overall this ride punches way above it's weight. Everyone has their opinions and we all appreciate different points of views. Sure this ride could be better - and still can be!

Not sure if the Audio has been tweaked since you rode or the very fact that that is pretty much your personal Specialist background at VTP that you are being a little critical. Frankly, people in glass houses shouldn't be throwing stones because nothing good has come out of those Parks on the Show front for a very, very long time!

So I don’t work for VTP so not sure what their lineup of shows has to do with audio on a ride at dreamworld. But thanks for your juvenile attempt of trying to call someone out on a theme park forum thinking they know something personally about them that you actually don’t.

But you didn’t say the sound was above it’s weight  and could be better you said “brilliant” “amazing” and “Disney quality”

You affirmed those comments by prefacing the by saying you are a self proclaimed expert on the mater.

Is the sound adequate? Maybe. But that’s far from what you described.

Dude, get down off your High Horse, please.  I am a little surprised at such aggressive retort by a Moderator of all People on this forum - especially pointed toward someone like myself who never engages in rubbish like this as you should be well aware.

I simply offered my opinion and as someone who has spent many years in the Theme Park industry and as an avid Theme Park Enthusiast, nothing more. Saying you are a buff at something does not mean you are an expert - nor did I ever suggest that I am. I appreciate the valid opinions of other's and happily accept them when delivered in a pleasant manner.

So thank you for insulting my opinion as Juvenile when I suggested that you worked for VTP. I'm sorry but from your posts over the years you have always suggested that you were involved with AOS? I stand corrected but I am sure anyone in this site that has been here for ever would share the same view. I really don't understand why it's such a big deal and like everyone else on this forum appreciate the same level of respect that I give. This is not that.

Feel free to delete this post Mods and can we please get back.on track. Thanks.

The ride itself is amazing but it’s such a hard concept to market especially as a first of it’s kind ride in Australia. Dreamworld know this and that’s most likely why they have used guests recounting their experience because it is explained in a basic and understandable way for other guests instead of being explained in a harder to grasp way by professionals of the industry. Good move by Dreamworld here.

Honestly, there's enough comments on the Dreamworld threads of people tagging friends and saying things like "this is like the one at disney" that people who didn't know, would just google and figure it out pretty quick. I don't think the concept is that hard. It just needs someone who knows the product to shoot something decent. This latest video has done that perfectly - even without the testimonials.

How about this, instead of queuing outside in switchbacks, you queue inside in a climate controlled room and watch content that's vaugely distracting and leave the switchbacks as an overflow option. The front of the queue could just be at the bottom of the stairs. There, I've just fixed 70% of what's wrong with SV's preshow set up in one go.

This is exactly what has started happening from yesterday, the queue line is now inside and the preshow is playing on a loop. The switchbacks outside are now for overflow.

Great news! Just in time for the Holidays and as the weather is heating up.

This will also help with Operations by having People stacked and ready to be counted in to the pre- boarding rooms.

Now if they can just add a small bit of footage somewhere that demonstrates the boarding process.

Should be the main focus of the safety video.
