Also, I’ve been accepted as a rides attendant tonight for Luna Park! Training starts soon! Ever since I started playing RCT3 and watching Theme Park Review on youtube 13 years ago, I never imagined it

Might be hoping for too much here but I wonder if the BD will be done by the time this lockdown is over… at least, considering the fact that there’s no park visitors so perhaps it’s easier for construction to take place?

It definitely will be done by then, They are already way ahead of schedule, Once Intamin arrive in the country (Apparently have) they will carry out 16 weeks of testing and then open the ride to the public, Expecting the potential opening date of December 26th.

Hasn't Dec 26th been the expected opening date the whole time?

I'm not sure? I don't think we really talked about it. Did we? At first i was expecting it to open in time for the start of the summer school holidays but it was only until i was told by the park that it's going to take 16 weeks of testing before it's open is when i changed my mind on that but yeah it might have. Not too sure?

16 weeks is a very long time for testing... maybe because it's a prototype. Normally most new rides only take 4-5 weeks of constant testing. If I'm not mistaken DC Rivals started testing late July, early August and opened mid September? I'd say if they are ahead of schedule, and providing COVID doesn't cause any issues we would be aiming for a late November, early December soft opening with maybe an official opening for Boxing Day.

Not sure why anyone would be surprised RE a projected Boxing Day opening of Big Dipper. The coaster was always slated to open in December and all press material relating to the Dipper has pointed to this date. Its an easy extrapolation to surmise that 26th December Boxing Day would be the likely opening date. Even if they are well ahead of the construction curve, I cannot see them opening any earlier as we have a little thing called COVID to contend with. The park will want to make sure that it can open  in confidence and they will want to maximise the publicity of opening such a ride in order to put more people through the turnstiles. Fingers crossed that by the time December rolls around, the park will be in a position to make a positive call on opening Big Dipper by the current time line. If not, and COVID is still a maor issue in the Greater Sydney area , then there is a real possibility that Luna Park will be faced with a Iron Gwazi/Icebreaker situation where we have the new ride complete but not the optimum conditions to open.

Even though the track is coming together I’m a bit concerned about how all the other systems and regulatory approvals are progressing.

I’m not sure how much float was built into their timelines, but I’m worried lockdown related delays could push it into 2022.

Our position on this remains. This forum is not for policing, witch-hunts or politics. Assume people are capable of doing the right thing. Assume local authorities are ensuring people are doing the right thing within their community.

It's really not hard. Take your frustrations about government or society elsewhere because if you post it here it will be removed.
