Oh god. The Stupid. It Hurts. In addition to this, it is interesting the Energex response that is being had. For those who don't want to go looking, Energex raised concerns about the carpark because they have existing infrastructure both overhead and below ground. They've asked questions over what arrangements VRS has made to accommodate their lines, and offered options for VRS to pay for things like relocation, and survey\study of certain impacts. VRS basically responded with "your shit isn't in the easement where it's supposed to be, so it's your fucking problem Jack." I must admit, I lol'd.4 points

I have a number of friends who work at both DW and WWW and have been in contact with them over the last few days asking about how they are doing, how the parks doing and what they've been up to. All are doing well and are all really glad to be back at work and do what they can to prepare the park for reopening. One friend works in admistrarion and ticketing and is doing general work around the park and replying to emails and calls from people. Another friend works with the koalas mainly, but has been helping with the other wildlife. They are performing usual routines, including Croc feeding around the usual times of the park being open. They are having a lot of interaction with the kangaroos like they usually would. The other friend works at WWW and is a slide operator, they are currently assisting with the check over of the slides and helping where needed throughout the parks.3 points

I've heard similar stories from a friend who works there. One thing is for sure is when they do reopen, both parks are gonna be in the best visual nick we have seen them in a while. So much gardening, maintenance and other TLC going on ??2 points

Pad mounted Transformer and switch board (blue box) next too it. Not new, have been there a long long time and feed general power circuits in that area.2 points

That's great to hear despite the park going through some of its worst weeks ever, they're trying to bring it back on the other side in pristine condition.1 point

its been covered, but in short you can't operate it within a certain distance from any people, other than the operator themselves, and it can't fly over areas of traffic etc. I believe also, in the case of the parks, that as each of them has a helipad, the HLZ prevents drone flight within a certain distance also. Short answer is don't be dumb enough to fly a drone over a theme park. if you do, please let me know when so that I can: laugh at you, and; arrange for CASA to view it too.1 point

Footers, portaloos, spray painted Mack boxes - there's a very well attired man seen frequently around Movie World possibly laughing his ass off. I'm looking forward to this magnificent fountain. Meanwhile at IAAPA...nothing. Surely someone has a drone in this madhouse called parkz for some revealing aerials?1 point

Thanks for the photo updates @themagician - with so much else on, its easy to forget this little minor refresh happening at WnW. If the other parks didn't have so much happening right now we'd all be glued to this thread!1 point

I wouldn't mind if they sent the surfboard ride to sea World and made a new ride in that area, although it would have to be small. That was the original plan anyway1 point

From seeing the ride today, I really do just think that the ride is undergoing a general maintenance period, but just don't know how long some things will take to repair. Im not going to rule out the ride completely closing, but really really hope it doesn't.1 point

Megan has just posted the latest chapter. I daresay this one will be a little controversial Without further ado, I give you... Luna Park Melbourne. http://pirouettes.org/?p=18721 point

Wow @Theme Park Girl thanks for this!!! Like you, the Ghost Rider at Grundy's was one of my early favourites - I even got chills as a kid when I walked by.. Not sure if others on here remember of the details inside? I recall a light flash and a scream sound as you entered the ride as well as scenes like a Doctor/Scientist pulling gizzards out of his Patient. Much of the ride was Pitch black with Scenes "Popping" out of the dark and punched with sound effects. As a kid, this ride genuinely scared me as it made me jump. I challenged myself to ride alone, fearing the dark at young age. From memory, I recall seeing many couples getting a kick out of it too, assuming it was quite the date ride. If the ride did indeed live on after Grundy's could only assume it was sold off for parts as a travelling ride. This kind of ride IMO would be perfect for Aussie world.1 point

For those who haven't seen it already, here is an article from the Gold Coast Bulletin about how DW is caring for the animals during the park's temporary closure: The article also included photos of DW staff with the koalas.1 point

More conveyor belts for the rafts/inflatables, so that guests don't have to painfully lug them up stairs and ramps. That's one of the major advantages I think that WhiteWater World has over Wet N Wild, despite it being the smaller park. It's a lot more convenient.1 point

I would doubt that the incident on what was effectively a prototype ride would mean they'd abandon the companies other attractions.1 point

I feel like those baracades aren't temporary and are about of theming @Theme Park Girl. But also a way to make sure people don't climb onto it because it does look like some of the parts could break under pressue1 point

The only one that really ever used to bother me was the Lethal Weapon preshow video briefing. That was ok once or twice, but after seeing the same movie footage (and from a tired old 80's movie, at that) got boring and repetitive after that. It got to the point where my best friend and I would make fun of it and recite it word for word as it was playing hahaha (much to the annoyance of people around us, gotta love adolescence lol) ???-1 points
