  1. I’m sorry but that junk market setup for the entrance is just a complete embarrassment for what is meant to be a world class park.
  2. It reeks of a cheap US tourist attraction where you have to get your green screen photo of the view you will actually see when you get inside before you’re let in
  3. The paintwork looks decent, the plants are an interesting and welcome cohesive themeing addition. However, the big statue thing looks ridiculous and nothing like a jellyfish. Looks like a combination of something out of War of The Worlds and a hot air balloon...
  4. Agreed @djrappa and I think what makes it even worse is it makes the entrance look really enclosed and uninviting. It isn’t until you get the front of the queue area that you can see into the park. They really should just get rid of this idea and change the entrance to how it used to be, and if they really want this type of crap, put it inside the park and let people do it if they want to.
  5. What part of this being Dreamworld is difficult to understand?
  6. Oh I really hope this leads to a new show or use for that building And another
  7. Classic Roachie rant, here goes: This map is better than the Movie World one, but still un-useable as a guide. This is definitely sunk cost fallacy at its finest. With a hand drawn map, firstly there's a quaint aesthetic that makes it interesting to absorb what's traditionally a dreary piece of design. It also means you can augment pathway lengths and scale buildings & attractions to show more or less detail, so in the case of the main plaza or the entrance building, you can actually show the F&B and Merch shops without simply going "stuff it, it's too hard" and covering it all in white or shades of brown roofing. I guarantee you this doubling-down on a badly thought out idea would attribute to lowered guest spend because it's simply too hard to easily digest what's what and where. From a UI/UX standpoint in the digital space, people jump off websites and abandon e-commerce carts because of far less (things as trivial having to load a secondary checkout page are known to increase bounce rates) so to think showing back of house areas & abandoned buildings (Viking's Revenge Station) is "cool & realistic" at the expense of showing what's inside their plazas and buildings means who-ever design this completely missed the point of the fundamental "why" this exists in the first place.
  8. The park officially opens today
  9. There is a lot currently happening at the park, so here is one big update for everyone. ENTRANCE CHANGES Firsly, the biggest change. And if you thought the entry process at SW couldn’t get any worse, think again. They have changed it (probably make it more efficient, but I can’t see it being in the busy periods). The big walls, lightijt framework and path you have to take isn’t good. Once you’ve had your photo taken, you go left for tickets and right if you have a pass. I was there not long after opening and they weren’t using the left entry point as they have done for many years. And the exit process also forces you have o see your photos. l SEA JELLIES Check out my full update here: In summary, I think it’s looking great RAY REEF The attraction has partly removed, with the northern entrance open. The southern area of the exhibit is currently having the flooring currently repainted VIKINGS REVENGE No changes with the ride itself, but the rock fountain has been turned back on and makes the area look better CREATURES OF THE DEEP Tne whole area has now reopened, but I definitely think some of the creature need a repaint or fixing. Hardly any of them were moving or making noise, and some were very faded. LAND RECLAMATION Still plenty of machinery on site doing their thing OTHER WORKS This area next to Seal Harbour has been fenced off with construction on the pump house underway Jet Rescue is closed for maintenance It seems that Storm has some new theming And these toilets are under refurbishment PARK MAP I haven’t looked at the new park map since the changes, and I’m glad to see they haven’t done the angle style and instead went from straight above. Did notice they have included a path, zoning the land, so this may indicate towards three new attractions or more at some point.
  10. Looks like they've done a pretty good job of downgrading the entrance area. The only thing left to complete it is to remove the word "Sea" from the signs and replace it with "Piss weak". Those words could just be added with a can of spray paint. The "World" part should remain as is. No need to waste money on a new sign with the same word.
  11. Sorry but you 2 are just stupid. I metionioned it was Dreamworld, and that it is the king Jillian theatre in the wild. There was never any looney tunes show and never any fright night event or mazes happening at Dreamworld.
  12. Its funny to read all these comments given the rides are a side note of what the show is actually for/about. I hardly think they are killing the show by giving more space to woodchop which is a major part of the actual purpose for the show.
  13. Dreamworld are currently installing new lighting for the king Julian theatre and they just have the actors up the ladders screwing lights in to doing all the wiring and connecting. Shouldn’t you have speacialized staff or contractors to do this????
  14. Another teaser posted
  15. Look, I actually support the fact that they need to undergo a DA process. Given the debacle that was hair-raiser, and the risk it could have been pulled down if the approvals didn't come through, not because of the complaints but simply because it didn't follow the process. Going through the DA \ BA (as appropriate) process is the same for anyone building \ developing something new - as we've seen with such mundane constructions as 'new food outlet' and 'new multipurpose shed' on the gold coast parks. Clearly, given the previous court rulings on noise, residents can't object to noise (they can, but they won't get very far). However the park has the protection it has because of the historic and heritage nature of the park. If they were to suddenly install something unsuited to the amenity of the park and the area, and unsuited to the heritage nature of the park - what or who would stop them? What's to stop Brookfield slowly replacing each attraction with something modern, completely different and worth a fortune in revenue? They built hair raiser without going through any process - what could they have done instead, and then had to pull it all down later? the developer is having a cry because they thought they had carte blanche, and they don't. they thought they'd been given the golden key to the city to bypass all those balances, and now they're finding out that they don't. I don't know about you, but I'm quite happy that such an icon will continue to have a few checks in place when it is completely controlled by a developer (who, I'm quite certain, once built some of the high rises that house their loudest opponents).
  16. ...be sure to experience it? The hell?
  17. If anyone's interested, I have just posted a POV video on You Tube of Abyss at Adventure World with the maintenance lights on in 2013 just after it opened. https://youtu.be/0LrmircPc2E The Video is not the best quality while on ride at speed outside, as it was shot on a small handheld compact camera (Sony HX-30V). It was taken after the park had closed and it does show pretty well what is inside the building which is normally in pitch black when the ride is open. Pete.
  18. Wow, totally got that when I first saw the hibiscus (I took the photos of them on my last visit, before today - the flowers are looking great). It appears Inferno is in pieces at the moment (at the back of the park), and there's a power sub-substation at the rear of the grand prix racetrack (near the Cirque Extreme site).
  19. good to see that hibiscus growing fast on the fenceline. They are not only beautiful but eventually, they will provide a barrier between the outside world and Adventure Wolrd. Guests should not see the road and bus stop/passing traffic while inside a theme park, it should be completely screened to help them escape the daily grind. In about 5 years from now, you won't be able to see in or out.
