If they came out and said 'We're working on a couple big projects but big projects take time and the park needs more rides NOW; hence why we're adding a temporary ride for a year or two' I could actually totally get behind it. The problem is demolishing the lighthouse makes it look like this nothing carnie ride is part of their long term plan. The lighthouse, while not exactly iconic does give a nice bit of support to 'Sea World'. Its captures what those lighthouses dotted up and down the coast are like. But better than that, because the walk out to it is past dolphins and it's not a long drive. If Flume is dead rip the channel out and put a ride in the middle of Storm. If Flume isn't dead then put it near Jet Rescue. But don't permanently rip out one of the nicest bits of scenary in the park if it's a stop gap measure, and if it isn't a stop gap measure then give me a call and I'll do creative consulting for free because who ever is deciding things has no idea how to make the park great.4 points

Building one in another location will be a very bad decision, especially if it’s done within the next couple of years. They need to at least let the attraction bring the crowds to DW, and maybe in 5 years time, build another one somewhere else (but I sitll don’t think that’s a good idea either)3 points

I would disagree, the current level of progress is very high. They are working on it every day, and ive driven past at night, and they would still be using the cranes (with very strong lighting). The internal steel went up very quickly, and I can imagine now the exterior will too. I don’t think it will be open early December, but definitely late or very early January3 points

Ummm well I have to say that’s Fkn disgraceful if this park is chucking in a portable carny ride. Is it bloody Luna Park? Thats embarrassing!!3 points

Yeah cause buying a carni ride to see how it goes first is totally the practice of the top theme parks around the world2 points

Still a step better than Movie World who where in denial that DC Rivals even existed until very close to opening day.2 points

Same old lake White Water World was busy with families and the paths had sprinklers cooling them down. Dreamworld was extremely quite and from 2-5 roughly, wipeout didnt operate once. Charging station has either been replaced or the design was removed because of Brock's garage being removed. The madagascar fountain is running again. Lego store is getting ready for christmas. IRide update, sorry I didn't get the best photos.1 point

Having it open for as many White Christmas events as possible would be great, but TBH as long as it opens by Boxing Day it's all good.1 point

Pretty obvious it’s all about the $$ when the Income Tax space has the ITP logo on it which Is a national franchise and not GC relevant at all..1 point

I don’t know the reason, but according to the reliable source of Wikipedia, it says that the ride was originally going to be installed from SW, it was then purchased from Intamin, but after it was bought it’s location changed to WNW. Maybe the reason was because SW was doing well at the time and they thought WNW needed a new attraction to compete with WWW.1 point

Since it's Dreamworld, they can skip those last steps which will save them a solid 2 hours towards opening day.1 point

I think you've misunderstood. I wasn't representing anything about Quality. What I meant was that you'll find RMs from boardroom to Bourke. They are iconic. You don't have to own a horse to be familiar with the brand. Ringers is a much more niche market - horsey people use the product (probably because its cheaper than RMs, and owning a horse will send you broke so buying RMs isn't usually an option)1 point

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you exhibit A^ I think Surfrider, at the time it was installed, would have been a good fit for Sea World to replace the pirate ship. At this stage, with the park lacking on almost every front, installing Surfrider would be a mistake - management would consider that they had given SW sufficient attention to coast for a year or two, and do nothing else for the park. SurfRider's capacity is horrible, and without other, more prominent anchor attractions to spread the load, the 'new kid on the spit' would have massive lines and end up causing more negativity towards the park...1 point

I found this case study which gives a little inside into Adventure World's Abyss Marketing Campaign. So I thought I would share it. http://www.octopustree.com.au/#!work/adventure-world.html1 point

Ease up... some travelling amusement rides are worth more than some park rides. Like I said, Sea World isnt exactly at the forefront on attractions that make thrill seekers want to visit the park. Anything is better than nothing at the moment. Simple though really, don't like the idea of it, don't go...1 point

I’d say it’s more a move to see how an attraction of this type would go before investing the money and to be honest Sea World Does a pretty good job at being embarrassing. Hopefully in the coming years more money can be thrown into it and invest in some new rides.1 point

A rebuttal to your observations: The entire cinema building was gutted and it was essentially a 4 wall shell before steel installation began. Plus there was no Asbestos in the Eureka Mountain Mine or in the Cinema building. The large price would be the cost of steel, the cost of parts and the cost of labour (including hire of 2 cranes) as they essentially took an empty building and turned the inside into a cluster of steel beams. If they were to entirely rebuild the structure, it would be the least of their costs as 4 brick walls can be done in a day and cost nothing. We're also yet to see how DW will implement the facade. Yes, Dreamworld have a habit of over-promising and under-delivering but realistically there isn't much work left to go. The installation of the steel was really the bulk of the works, now that the steel work is complete, it's mostly superficial works to be completed before opening. Yes, December may seem like a stretch but even if they don't hit the late December delivery date, I'm confident that we'll see it before the end of Jan 2019.1 point

Surfrider should have been put in Seaworld in the first place IMHO. I still think it would be a good option to move it. A you say, small compact ride , small footprint but provides a good thrill. It wold be a good move and could help alleviate SeaWorld's lack of ride issue.....1 point

If SeaWorld end up goong with RMC they should get a Raptor, Could easily fit in Sea vipers Plot of land with a nice compact layout.1 point

Thanks so much for that. I can certainly see some dirt at the bottom of the pool there, and it does appear to form a rather interesting pattern. However, I have to say that the dirt in Jdude95s photo looks a lot more pure, and (if dirt can be) I almost want to say it looks cleaner too. These are two qualities I think are extremely important in any theme park dirt. Still. Beggars can't be choosers, as the saying goes. Although I must add they could have asked if they could have a bit from the Wet & Wild buggy track, now it's no longer needed there.0 points
