If they came out and said 'We're working on a couple big projects but big projects take time and the park needs more rides NOW; hence why we're adding a temporary ride for a year or two' I could actually totally get behind it. The problem is demolishing the lighthouse makes it look like this nothing carnie ride is part of their long term plan. The lighthouse, while not exactly iconic does give a nice bit of support to 'Sea World'. Its captures what those lighthouses dotted up and down the coast are like. But better than that, because the walk out to it is past dolphins and it's not a long drive. If Flume is dead rip the channel out and put a ride in the middle of Storm. If Flume isn't dead then put it near Jet Rescue. But don't permanently rip out one of the nicest bits of scenary in the park if it's a stop gap measure, and if it isn't a stop gap measure then give me a call and I'll do creative consulting for free because who ever is deciding things has no idea how to make the park great.4 points

MW could simply add some extra value into the $99. Here's how to make it already have more value: Include a Backward pass that can be used when the park is open. (I'm surprised this isn't already included). Include a video of your backward experience and free digital ride photos for the day at the park. Neither of these things actually cost MW anything. The ride regularly cycles without backward riders, and they are already capturing photos and videos. If they really wanted to give a bit more value, they could also include one or more of the following: Cross-promotion between parks with a free game at Top Golf (which is one of the few things you actually get a view of from the top of the coaster) A DC Rivals Soft Drink sipper-cup. To be honest, a backward pass with video, and free photos for the day would sell me in. A drink cup would in addition would make me think it is excellent value. Giving me a free game at TopGolf would get me over there (I currently have zero interest in it), and I'd probably buy drinks and food there too - possibly even more games if I enjoyed it. This is the kind of thing I would also be likely to buy someone as a gift, especially with a TopGolf game thrown in, and so they would get at least two sales - one for me and one as a gift - so we could share the experience together.3 points

It would be great to see this sort of imaginative planning go into the real Sea World.2 points

By the sounds of it, not even theme park nerds are that keen. The climb's simply not playing to its strengths, hence the poor numbers. If you told me it was a "Rivals Behind The Scenes Tour" that included a walk to the top, now that's playing to your strengths. But a walk to see the carpark and the highway? Hard pass.2 points

As it currently stands, you do not get park entry for the day. So extras like backwards passes and Fast Video are redundant. I mean with the change of the time of day the climb takes place, most would probably be bought in park if they started properly advertising it to their day guests. Which means they have already paid for entry to the park anyway. You would end up needing to have 3 different prices/packages. -One just for the climb by itself. For those that do not wish to have entry to the park at all.(Which is the price as it is now) -One for people that require entry to the park as well as the climb. This one could also include extras that you have mentioned. E.g Backwards ride, fast video, sipper cup, bla bla bla bla bla. -And one for guests with annual passes or pre-purchased tickets that wish to have the same extras (such as the backwards ride and fast video, whatever) but do not need the entry.1 point

I could imagine the giant drops op box a rats nest so it got a new one. Tower of terror most likely has thousands of meters of wire everywhere, so that’s getting sorted. The HWSW is old and probaly a rats nest, so it’s getting sorted? shall we be concerned?1 point

The State Governments proposal to change the State Environmental Planning Policy for the Luna Park heritage site is nearing its end time for exhibition. This concludes on the 9/11/2018. The proposal will then move to the consideration stage where hopefully it swiftly moves to the Final stage of policy being made. The policy can be found here under exhibition on the state planning site : http://planspolicies.planning.nsw.gov.au/index.pl?action=view_job&job_id=9674 The full proposal and document can be found in the below PDF: Luna Park EIE 2.pdf The main points of the proposal are: Interestingly, the document outlines also with a plan on where development of rides and attractions can take place in the park ( see the PDF for this. ) This , hopefully, is a huge positive step for the park to move forward and resume its plans for ride reinvestment and renewal. This legislation should address any concerns that management of Luna Park has cited as being onerous towards any new development. Win win for all.1 point

Lighthouse is already entirely gone And you can see the new pathway that’s been laid1 point

Assets are assets when it comes to selling, so yes it does add $17 million (minus labour and clearing) to the park value, but it will also (hopefully) create an attendance lift, which also lifts valuation.1 point

to be fair, given the location in the park, there's a lot of things they could do more easily without the hoardings in the way. Nighttime wouldn't be a bad time to do a lot of the big move stuff.1 point

Climbs now take place in the afternoon with the booking site listing the start time as 5:15PM. Makes more sense with the current heat, and gives them the ability to sell the experience in park to day guests.1 point

unless.....Ardent have no interest in the future of Dreamworld, and are gearing up to sell it. It could be argued that this attraction, the WWW expansion, plus other small improvements (new paint at WWW), are being done to 'spruce up' the park in order to achieve a better outcome when it comes to the sale.1 point

Well of course they would. You could say that they have a, err, Monopoly on the production of the game really so they can charge however much they want!1 point

Yeah cause buying a carni ride to see how it goes first is totally the practice of the top theme parks around the world1 point

Ummm well I have to say that’s Fkn disgraceful if this park is chucking in a portable carny ride. Is it bloody Luna Park? Thats embarrassing!!1 point

I've been a huge fan of the new Vekoma designs (particularly Lech Coaster), so it was an incredible opportunity to meet the mastermind behind the manufacturer's incredible transformation! Benjamin's answers were fab - really informative and definitely engaging in the way he talked me through the thought process of designing coaster elements or layouts ❤️ Also wanted to apologize for not posting here much. Been a hectic few months travelling, doing all sorts of projects and montage. But here are a few pictures from my trips Steel Vengeance lived up to the massive hype. Its airtime actually isn't the most extreme, but it's still strong ejector, and there are so many of it! The second half just keeps going at an incredible pace, and the sections through the structure make the ride even wilder. Special mention to the exhilarating wave turn - sideways airtime is so much fun! Maverick ain't bad either. The layout shines with its diversity of forceful moments, the drop is awesome at the back, and the Stengel Dives are among the snappiest transitions I ever experienced Fenix is incredibly photogenic! The ride itself was a pleasant surprise, delivering a very fine sustained airtime hill as well as an unexpectedly sustained forceful helix. It's short, but really sweet. Hyperion was pretty fun, but didn't exactly live up to my (overhyped) expectations. It doesn't have the same pushing the envelope extremeness of other Intamin masterpieces like El Toro or Expedition GeForce. Some moments are almost dull, like the floater airtime hill, and other could have been more intense to really be exciting. Still, a great ride and the twist and dive inversion is fab!
