The State Governments proposal to change the State Environmental Planning Policy for the Luna Park heritage site is nearing its end time for exhibition. This concludes on the 9/11/2018. The proposal will then move to the consideration stage where hopefully it swiftly moves to the Final stage of policy being made. The policy can be found here under exhibition on the state planning site : http://planspolicies.planning.nsw.gov.au/index.pl?action=view_job&job_id=9674 The full proposal and document can be found in the below PDF: Luna Park EIE 2.pdf The main points of the proposal are: Interestingly, the document outlines also with a plan on where development of rides and attractions can take place in the park ( see the PDF for this. ) This , hopefully, is a huge positive step for the park to move forward and resume its plans for ride reinvestment and renewal. This legislation should address any concerns that management of Luna Park has cited as being onerous towards any new development. Win win for all.

Yes, the real value here isn't the value of the plant and equipment for the ride, but the hopeful positive lift to reputation, which as we all know from RCT, is keenly important to the success of any park. this is why they need to remove their no entry signs from in front of the exit, and not launch tower of terror to fast so as to send the car off the end of the track.

Plus remember that none of these three are 'backyard manufactured' in house. All are built by reputable amusement manufacturers with specific guidelines and requirements. Although Arrow isn't around these days i'm fairly certain S&S Sansei would be able to provide any ongoing support required.

I don't think a WWW expansion and new 17 million dollar ride are "small improvements."

If they came out and said 'We're working on a couple big projects but big projects take time and the park needs more rides NOW; hence why we're adding a temporary ride for a year or two' I could actually totally get behind it. The problem is demolishing the lighthouse makes it look like this nothing carnie ride is part of their long term plan. The lighthouse, while not exactly iconic does give a nice bit of support to 'Sea World'. Its captures what those lighthouses dotted up and down the coast are like. But better than that, because the walk out to it is past dolphins and it's not a long drive. If Flume is dead rip the channel out and put a ride in the middle of Storm. If Flume isn't dead then put it near Jet Rescue. But don't permanently rip out one of the nicest bits of scenary in the park if it's a stop gap measure, and if it isn't a stop gap measure then give me a call and I'll do creative consulting for free because who ever is deciding things has no idea how to make the park great.

The new parkland is much better for families than the old river... can hire footballs & frisbees from Billabong to play with too...
