Sorry T-Bone I am going to have to disagree with you here.I have been on these boards since nearly inception and most know that my main points of interest are the Luna Park's of Australia and the smaller Australian theme parks such as Jamberoo, Aussie World , Adventure World and the Victorian parks such as Fun Fields and Adventure Park. Sure I have a huge interest in the GC parks as well and recognise rightly that they are are the pinnacle of the amusement park industry in Australia, but I always gravitate to any threads regarding our smaller burgeoning parks in the other states. My point is that I have shared my opinions and views on these parks over these many years and I have had (mostly) well rounded, intelligent discussions from members and posters that have certainly taken a fervent interest in these parks. This site is CALLED Parkz and as such encompasses ALL Australian amusement parks in the country as a whole. Its not called Gold Coast Parkz for a reason. Yeah sure the main thrust of the industry and the sheer scale of the parks on the GC mean that they attract the lion share of the focus on these boards but that is not meant to detract at all from the smaller parks within the Australian amusement park landscape. To say that no one seems to really care about the other parks is just a massive incorrect statement , IMHO. @iwerks, @Tim Dasco , @19Michael96 and myself are certainly examples of regular and respected posters who's main point of focus are not solely aligned with the GC parks.8 points

Just to clarify this point, which has been reported as a major bone of contention by the said North Sydney Councillor, Ian Mutton. Ride installs under the new legisaltion on Lavender Green are NOT going to be permitted. The only way that Luna Park can change this is to go through the normal DA process and have any addition or change to this area subject to the findings and auspices of said process. That would mean that any resident objection would be met and listened to. This is detailed in the DPE public information e-mail that was sent as part of the annoucement of the changes pertaining to Luna Park, as outlined below. Looking forward to the construction of the new Flying Carousel- perhaps @19Michael96 will be able to keep us regularly updated as to the ride installs progress from when it begins? Very positive times for LPS- cannot wait to see what they have in store for us- of which I am reliably told will be of an excellent quality. For now this month brings visits for me to Luna Park Melbourne, Fun Fields and Adventure Park. Looking forward to doing some trip reports and photos of these Victorian parks not often mentioned on these boards.4 points

For those curious - there's a rebuttal piece going up today that debunks a lot of the activist's misconceptions.4 points

I disagree - i saw this before Christmas, and I thought it was great that each and every character, appearance and show was shown chronologically. You could look at the time, and then scan to the right part of the page to see what was coming up soon, to decide what (if anything) you were interested in catching. I think it'd be good to either have a 'big show' summary elsewhere, or otherwise mark those on the page in bold or a bigger font...3 points

Sky point is a tourist attraction on the 70th floor of the Q1. They are tenants of the building. They have absolutely nothing to do with the actual resort or building. There is no pool in skypoint, it’s an observation deck and bar.2 points

I'll try. It depends on what I have scheduled for each Saturday next month.1 point

I feel Movieworld has dropped the ball on these entry opens. I am a local so I will return, but last week I went to Dreamworld and they opened at 9. At 8:45 they started letting people into the park, stopping them at the initial entry. At 9:00 the barriers came down and everyone was in. Today we went to Movieworld and they waited until 9:30 and opened the ticket window. After getting our onepass renewed we were then forced to queue at the very entry, right near the Movieworld entry until 9:40. Mind you, half of these people haven't had their bags checked, so it's a large security issue. At 9:40 they opened the initial entry, people flooded in and then entry was cut off to 10. I headed straight to Scooby, which had a "delayed entry". I understand Movieworld is busier than Dreamworld, but frankly the guest experience at Dreamworld was far better.1 point

This gives me the feel like its an SBS Vice piece or from some show on ABC2. Only feedback is that you need a semi transparent box around peoples names and titles as it can sometimes be a little tough to read fully / at a glance. I needed to put effort in reading their names and titles when I wanted to put more effort into hearing what the conversation was.1 point

Ultimately I was quite happy to not have any protestors in the clip. The group that I reference throughout the clip (JFC) for all intents and purposes are not willing to have a dialogue with anyone, and to be quite frank, I feel that their plight of activism is rooted more in self-validation than a want for animals in general to lead better lives. That's not to say all activists are like this either - I don't regard it as an us verse them battle - there's definitely merit in having robust discussion with anyone and everyone to ensure that efforts are continued to better the way we conserve and rehabilitate animals in general.1 point

Went to the first AW Nights for 2019 on Saturday night. @Tim Dasco and I spent a bit of time chatting to Ross, the general manager. We learnt a few things that can be repeated: Fright Nights should be held in February. The animal area will be reopening soon. The park was busier early, but as the temperature dropped so did the crowd. Abyss was about a ten minute wait and the Grand Prix about 15 minutes. There was a DJ in one part of the park and a rumba band near the gate.1 point

Yeah, and I know it’s a paltry amount, but it’s still a product and if it pisses you off, why renew? Do you return to your favourite theme park if drunken teenagers assault you in the car park? Probably not, you’d just go somewhere else... Thanks. Will give it a try. In the meantime, one thing I noticed at the Qld parks is that they’d open the gates early, but not let people on the rides until half an hour later.1 point

Yeah, I suspect the mods will cut this part of the thread. My point is: why should we contribute to Parkz if AlexB is going to be antagonistic every time (even in the Adventure World threads - despite the fact that even he admits he’s never been there)? Why should I be a paid up member of Parkz if I get treated like a joke? I thought we were about intelligent discussion.1 point

The problem with having a ‘sense of humour’ is that you can come across as a bullying dick. Maybe why people don’t post about parks outside the Gold Coast is that you come on and belittle them (even if you’re just trying to be funny).1 point

Iwerks, no one talks about the other parks because no one really seems to care and they aren’t big league enough when compared to the parks on the Gold Coast. Despite this I still haven’t seen any evidence of Alexb belittling and bullying people who talk about non QLD parks. I also don’t see what this has anything to do with Village Theme Parks..0 points

Staff started training on the ride yesterday. Took quite some time for Brogent to sync everything together. Expect soft openings some time next week.0 points
