Kiama Municipal Council has put on exhibition an around $7 million plan of Jamberoo Action Park to demolish the Splash Out area which consisted of 2 body slides, 1 slow & 1 fast, both the 3rd oldest body waterslides in Australia (built 1981) & a couple of pools (also built 1981) which were upgraded in the past decade to add a rolling log & an octopus slide set. The bodyslides are to be replaced them with GRAND GORGE FALLS!... ...the pool set with KOALA KOVE! Of note, this is a slight drift from their Kangaroo Island masterplan, which was to happen completely in the surroundings of Funnel Web. The Illawarra Mercury today also reported: I know Surf Hill is right next to Grand Gorge Falls. The future of Surf Hill now will be interesting. I must say Jamberoo outstands me with their commitment to theming. Here is the queue & shade shelters design: Unlike The Perfect Storm, which received zero media attention during the DA process, this one has so hopefully the local residents have no issues with it. Otherwise, expect delays. The local residents biggest concern has always been the colour blending into the natural surroundings. Stay tuned to this and further posts for more new developments.5 points

Here is the landscape plan (colour version): Grand Gorge Falls' 8-Lane Octokraken Racer: "With an overall ride length of approximately 160 metres and an elevational drop of 21.59 metres, this combination racer will be the largest of its type installed to date"(assuming that is still the case in summer 2020) "approximately five metres below the natural ground level" The general Grand Gorge Falls area is themed to gorges "such as Kings Canyon, Katherine Gorge and Finke Gorge / Palm Valley". Grand Gorge Falls' SkyBox Multi-Bump Speed Slides: "only one and three metres above natural ground level" Koala Kove: "This waterplay zone provides a wet deck approximately 25 metres long and 15 metres wide" It is anticipated, according to the DA, that Jamberoo Action Park "...will experience a slight increase in numbers in the short term, but in the medium to long term the owners aim to achieve sustained visitor numbers in line with current attendance rates" Some other interesting quotes from the DA: The DA mentions these new replacements as part of "Master Plan 2016". This very likely refers to Jamberoo Action Park's hints to a newly proposed $6.5 million large major custom-designed hybrid world-first ride back in 2017. Clearly, Jamberoo Action Park defines 'hybrid' differently. So what does everything think?3 points

Honestly, you really are a bit clueless, aren't you? So what you're saying is that the park had all of their majors operating, but several suffered ride stoppages on the same day? Its a pretty shitty coincidence, but its not like the park planned it that way. The fact that they reopened GL just before close shows they were trying their best. They could have shut rivals down for the time it took to remove the faulty train, and then you'd just be complaining that they were only running one train, but instead of shutting it down, they cycled it empty. Do you have any idea of the cost of running an empty train? It still suffers the same wear and tear on the wheels and bearings - which increases maintenance costs - which they elected to do, rather than close it, like they could have. For some people, it's free.3 points

These things happen. Nothing skipped a beat yesterday or last night and it was raining for part of it. You may also need to get your hearing checked, as he clearly said He’s just arrived in Vegas and it was a “shit fight” due to how busy the airport was. A shit f**k is something very different...3 points

It seems, in their DA for Grand Gorge Falls & Koala Kove, they have inadvertently revealed a plan for an Alpine Coaster: Since it is difficult to see, I have highlighted the route of the the proposed Alpine Coaster. You can see the long lift hill (but it's fair to assume the queue will be via the Chairlift). The exit station is planned for the grass area immediately north of the bottom Chairlift station while the entry is planned for the rear of the top Chairlift station. And here it is with the Bobsleds & Chairlift highlighted: Superimposing it over Google Earth gets this roughly: (I'm sure it extends around to the rear of the top Chairlift station though as per above plans): No other details about this have been found, including whether or not they plan to proceed with it. It seems it will be in addition to the popular Bobsleds.2 points

Old Sydney Town heritage listed by National Trust Catherine Stubbs, Central Coast Express Advocate July 8, 2019 11:25am The saga of Old Sydney Town has taken a surprising new twist after it was revealed that the long defunct heritage theme park site has been listed by the National Trust. National Trust (NSW) conservation director Graham Quint confirmed the listing this month and said it was “in recognition of the living museum’s cultural significance and historic interpretation of Colonial history prior to the arrival of Governor Macquarie”. Old Sydney Town was renown for its depictions of colonial life. “It was highly regarded by families and provided a fantastic site for education and particularly popular at the time of Australia’s Bicentennial celebrations in 1988,” Mr Quint said. Mr Quint added The National Trust (NSW) Register lists places that were cultural components of the natural or cultural environment of Australia, that have aesthetic, historic, architectural, archaeological, scientific or social significance or other special value for future generations, as well as for the present community. National Trust conservation director, Graham Quin said the Old Sydney Town site was rare and unique. Picture: Justin Sanson “Old Sydney Town is rare and unique in its portrayal of Sydney and its environs as they existed at a time when the tiny town was still a strict convict settlement, struggling to survive,” he said. “Its genesis was based on a small but intensive body of interest that was brought to life in the historical research of scholars including the Old Sydney Town founder Frank Fox.” Mr Quint said Central Coast Council had been notified of the listing. People queuedg up to see visit Old Sydney Town beforein closed on January 27, 2003. Picture: Elenor Tedenborg The listing may come as a surprise to the new owners of the Old Sydney Town site who bought it from French hotel tycoon Richard Chieu in 2018 for $20 million. Just eight weeks ago the group, calling itself World Culture Tourism Village, unveiled new plans for the 120 hectare site including resurrecting parts of Old Sydney Town and building a global tourism village and leisure precinct. The plans also included building community indoor and outdoor spaces, a boutique retail shopping village, a food and bar precinct, water activities, hotels, exhibition spaces, retail spaces and residential development. Old windmill at Old Sydney Town. How the National Trust listing will impact on those plans is uncertain. Graham Quint said listing on the National Trust Register did not have “legal force”. “It is however, recognised as an authoritative statement of historical, architectural importance or other value of a building, site, item, or area, and by listing such items on its register, the National Trust hopes to advise the public of the value of Australia’s national heritage,” Mr Quint said. Old Sydney Town waterfront area with potters hut and bottle kiln at right. Picture: @switchy3 / Mitchell Hubbard “The National Trust does not advocate rigid and unnecessarily restrictive development controls with regard to listed items or places. “However, it recommends that their significance as part of the national, state or local heritage should be conserved through controls that allow, where necessary, for new and compatible development and associated works, all of which respect the character of the place or item through enhancement rather than conflict.” One of the dwellings in Old Sydney Town in a state of disrepair. Central Coast Mayor Jane Smith said she was unsure if council had received official notification of heritage listing. “But I recognise the memories that many Central Coast residents will have of Old Sydney Town and welcome any recognition of its significance,” Cr Smith said. “I would expect that these factors will need to be taken into consideration with any proposal for the future of the site.” You're welcome @StingRay2 points

Park Hours: 9am-10pm Sunset: 8:08pm So the ride is at it's best for less than 2 out of 13 hours, or 15% of it's operating day. Awesome. 🙌 I rewatched the comparison video last night. For me - its a few simple things that could have really made it work. Extend the mosasaurus 'tunnel' so that it is connected to the rock 'cave', making it look like the rock forms part of the tank walls. It doesn't need any other screens, just a wall that takes you into the cave, rather than coming out of the tank, having a metre of jungle and then back into the cave. A water attraction that size would have massive retaining structures, and the 'bare wall' ending just doesn't work. Bring back the popcorn compys. a little comedy in an otherwise serious and 'scary' ride is a little bit of fun. The old hadrosaur gate was directly in front of you for a long time, and now, you're faced up to -nothing-. Put a sign up there talking about hadrosaurs or something - just give people something to focus on until the hadrosaur appears and\or they turn the corner into the predator cove The Raptor enclosure is completely out of place. It doesn't belong in the Jurassic World universe. The new paddock looks like it was built with shipping containers, and they probably could have just built the gateway (seen on the left in the below image) in front of the existing set without much issue. Have a hydraulic gate half open and attempting to close with some machinery sound effects and you really add to the story A little more commentary on why we're suddenly diverted 'uphill' - Pratt's "we're going to evacuate you on the level platform ahead" is a weak attempt after you're already halfway up. The earlier screens - outside the tunnel could have had more going on (especially in such a blank area) to explain why you are going up a lift hill. I think the Rex timing is shitty. It's like it has kept it's old timing, but the boat doesn't go fast enough to time it right. The Indominus could be 'coming after you' as you edge toward the final drop, and the Rex comes out to save the day with the same 'holy shit' moment when it comes out on top of you. Most of this is minor, and wouldn't have impacted the budget too much. an extra metre or so of wall, something in the hadrosaur gate gap - even a static sign, or some additional theming elements to draw your eye. An additional script dialog for the lower screens, and some adjusted timing for Rex. The Raptor gate is the only majorly expensive change, and if it was the only thing on my list i think i'd probably overlook it, but its the difference between doing the retheme justice, and half-arseing it.1 point

I’d say the announcement will come around the time of their 18/19 full year Financial Results presentation which going off last year will be around mid-late August.1 point

Um...you know unexpected operational issues occur correct. Sure it may have caused you to be annoyed or chuck a Bikash and be like "My night is ruined" but hey safety over accidents right. These things happen.1 point

A--Lexi-B Superman Lockers have been FOC for some time now, just sayin😋1 point

I used to have pants with a pocket stitched on the inside, for credit card, pass and car key. Sat in the crease between leg and pubic area (male) so didn't stand out. Could even pull out the main pockets to show they were empty. Prior to that, credit card and pass in shoe under foot, key in the front of my shoe. Wasn't comfortable, but beat hiring a locker and was only for a short time for Superman.1 point

I have never had an issue leaving a backpack at the GL station. The Superman lockers also haven’t had a charge for awhile now.1 point

To be honest, that's a better look there, than in a turn of the century main street.1 point

Not sure what a "thrill ride" really is these days, seems DW's bought a few of them over the years with modest long-term success for the Park itself. "Sideshow" type rides belong in a sideshow themed setting. John Longhurst understood this, with the beautiful and easily achieved "Country Fair" setting, here the park could buy relatively affordable rides and use them to provide a fun area, which rested on the "foundation" of the Thunderbolt rolleroaster. DW your key word going forward should be making DW Beautiful again....thrills are great...Beauty is greatER! ToT is a thrill, nothing wrong with it. But, the noise it makes has dominated the park for years. The old train station, the gardens, the vintage cars drove through, the way it blended into Rivertown, with the paddle-wheeler - beautiful and for some weird reason, no-one can really explain, all butchered for mostly 3rd rate attractions. How in God's good name, was the "bike rollercoaster" thing monstrosity ever put there, where the vintage cars made perfect sense? Let's face it, we do know why, merchant bankers/accountants running a themepark! It'll take some years DW, but you need to understand, you can have it all, thrills and more thrills, but you have to treat the park layout with respect.1 point

Love Bikash’s Instagram story from tonigh “Vegas is a shit fuck”. Well let me tell you MovieWorld was a “Shit Fuck” tonight. Rivals went down so many times it was beyond a joke. 2 trains running, however only 1 with people due to harness sensor issues. GL broke down around 6 and reopened just before close. While superman looked as if it was having issues as operating without people for periods of time. Somehow Scooby doo was fine???? That ride that was never open due to tech difficulties??? Seems like an advanced overhaul of its operating must of happend during its downtime last year🤔0 points
