  1. I agree with everything you said except these two points. Now it has the extended tunnel, I agree it cuts the park in half, previously with just a track I thought it was fine, no issues. The tower its self is obviously iconic. The noise is also super loud but I've always thought it made the atmosphere. I have strong memories as a kid wanting to be as close as possible to it when it launched and loved hearing it go and would always turn to watch as soon as I could. I've not been to dreamworld in a good 7 years but its still a strong good memory memory.

  2. I wouldn't. I mean - its a great ride. Nothing beats going super fast. But here's my issue: It cuts the park in half. ...And especially with the TOTII tunnel, it's not appealing to look at It's noisy AF. It completely destroys the park atmosphere Its unreliable. Constantly down for maintenance, but even when its up, you can't guarantee it'll be up all day Its expensive. Each launch chews up SO much power to drive the car. Its capacity is shit. 14 people, 30 second ride, 60+ second load time (if the staff are on their game) for 560pph max (and let's face it, it almost never goes that frequently) It's old. The ride operated for 13.5 years before it was converted to ToTII. In it's second incarnation, it's about to hit a further 9 years. It's a 22.5 year old ride, and while groundbreaking (and record breaking) in 1997, technology has overtaken it - When SFMM upgraded to S:EFK a month after TOT, a new, modern, more efficient launch control system was installed. Dreamworld passed on the upgrade, and still operates with 1997 controls. It's slow. For whatever reason (but rumored to be cost-cutting) the record breaking launch of 100mph is almost never reached today - the ride operates at a lower power, and never uses the top 30% of the tower, as it did in it's heyday. These days, the only real reason for keeping it, especially with all of the currently present reliability issues, is sentimentality. And there's really no evidence that Dreamworld is sentimental - just take a look at the cinema steam train marketplace wipeout paddlesteamer traditional disney-esque main street facades... oh fuck it - they aren't sentimental.

  6. I found a video of someone's construction pictures of Cyclone and a couple Thunderbolt demolition pictures while scolling through Youtube this morning. I thought it would be cool to share. His channel has a small amount of DW content but these photos are probably totally new.

  12. Or maybe Six Flags chose not to implement the same guideline? Just because two attractions don't have the same rule, Doesn't necessarily mean the harsher rule is the wrong one... Road Runner Rollercoaster, and Flight of the Hippogriff are both 335M Junior coasters by Vekoma. FOTH is a 91cm height requirement, whereas WBMW not so recently increased the height requirement from 90 to 110cm. We've seen many adjustments in Australia post-TRRR. In many cases these would be in collaboration with the manufacturer. I see no issue with limiting the age on high thrill rides - for several reasons. Some more mature kids might be able to handle it, but others can't. Your fountain react to Magician is criticising him, not the content, and it is a negative reaction that is unwarranted when he is simply passing on information from an official park source. Come on Magician - that's a bit disappointing. Giant Drop, Lex Luthor Drop of Doom, and Zumanjaro are all Intamin drop rides...

  13. Now I'm starting to think you're trolling or can't read. “All amusement rides and equipment have been thoroughly inspected" To put it in perspective every ride for the Ekka was inspected and approved to open under the new Workplace Health and Safety Queensland regulations while SV remains closed.

  15. Yeah there's a couple things you're missing: VRTP would know what the issues are with SV. They're competitors, but they're also peers in industry. Many in the industry know what has gone wrong. VRTP would have known this before they even announced the ride. They would be ensuring that whatever the issues are are addressed at design phase, rather than licensing phase. Huss is not a new manufacturer to Australia's shores. They have built many travelling and park model rides that still operate around Australia (and the world). They aren't new to the game, they were founded in 1919 building parts for ship engines and have been building amusement rides since 1969. Counter that with Brogent - labelled a 'software' company on google, "made in taiwan", who I believe launched i-ride in 2007. Theres a lot of decades between the two. Check out this exclusive behind the scenes video of technicians working on the i-ride components

  18. There is some post processing but actually really simple (compared to some of my other work) - mainly adjustments to shadows and highlights (is a high contrast subject after all), and a slight boost to vibrancy. Basically the simple edits you would normally take to process a RAW file - the light was really that brilliant on the day. Here's a few more from the day too.
