  1. Bumping up a topic here, but what I’m about to tell you all is very important. If you have never used them, I highly recommend. When you next visit Dreamworld, use the toilets in tiger island. They are the best theme park toilets on the Gold Coast. They are so so clean and the best themed toilets I’ve been to. Nearly every detail has been considered to make them fit the theme of tiger island. This precinct for me is still the best themed and well done area in any theme park on the Gold Coast. Areas like Castaway Bay, Villains precinct, Dreamworks and Nickelodeon are all great, but there is something about the whole Tiger Island area that I alway love visiting and looking at all the details.
  2. Another piece of track was removed this week
  3. Some photos have emerged of loopy lighthouse out of its container (credit) coastersodaa on Instagram
  4. I was never pumping self serve stations so am a bit lost on your comment here. The only reason I have not been here is out of sight and out of mind. I need to make more effort and I will. And it not a matter of why I am anywhere it’s convenient sometimes to be where I need to be. They are not a bunch of kids, they are good people trying to make a difference to their existence amongst other things. I don’t have any ambitions to be a god or have an ego that would warrant this. Face book is easy. I have reached out to Richard to have something here on a regular basis. But I will not accept immature comments and childish behaviour from anyone here to be clear. We all need to be respectful and act appropriately.
  5. You got along a new path which is closer to MDMC from Main Street, under GD along the new path that goes towards Corroboree, then up the spaghetti paths to the GD queue
  6. You can also travel the world by post...
  7. Went on Superman today and it definitely looked like the Rivals train was in the matinence room, all disassembled and spread about. Even during a launch the Mack style is easy to spot! 😜 Doomsday was testing frequently. Noticed no activity on Spaceshot.
  8. Sadly - after changing it once in 17 years, I’ve used up my free name changes for a while. perhaps if we had a “fatland” we could have manufacturers begin to design rides to accommodate more than the 5’2”-5’10”, 70-90kg, narrow shouldered females they currently model every harness on...
  9. Well this comment was kinda rude even for Parkz. Hey can you at least give us a hint as to if this announcement is going to be for a new ride or something else entirely and wether it will be focused more on the family or thrillseeker demographics.
  10. Fuckwits have really gotta stop flying their drones over active theme parks
  11. Was In today for another look. that first turn after the drop is going to be intense can not wait, the layout looks fantastic
  12. Kind of out of the blue but couldn't help in having a look around for some more info on the proposed "Sydney's Wonderland", it seems to be in a completely stagnant stage and honestly with some of the rubbish concept art they've put forward, crappy websites and a lack of information, I doubt it's going to happen SOON. I did email Ammar last year, seems like a nice enough bloke, but he seemed to imply it will not be happening for a while, and as @DaptoFunlandGuysaid, it looks like that billion dollar funding may be long gone. He mentioned going on a new way forward and that the project is still active. I don't doubt he's still trying to push ahead with the plans, and I still think it will happen, but unfortunately it looks like a fair wait before anything concrete comes along if a new western Sydney theme park comes about. Ah well, maybe we'll be talking about this in another four years, on the bright side though Luna Park opens back up in two months so we've got that to look forward to down here in Sydney.
  13. Best part about being 6'2 and 55kg is that I can easily be folded in half to fit on most human sized rides.
  14. What has the state of our parks become when there's fanfare over the reopening of a set of stairs? 😂
  15. Love those trains on Boomerang with the Aboriginal style artwork!
  16. Whilst you're here @Bikash Randhawa I'd love to see this Q&A still go ahead Perhaps the admin team can put together a google form or something for questions to be submitted, anything inappropriate etc. can then be filtered out and then passed on to you Ps. Blink twice if a B&M coaster is replacing Arkham Asylum
  17. Should @DaptoFunlandGuybe renamed Daptofatlandguy? 😛
  18. JDude95 the group in question are a great bunch of kids that have good fun and do the best they can, I don’t believe I get treated like god and not sure where you get this from. Nonetheless i don’t need any attention from anyone at this stage of my career. Connect and send me a DM on one of my social channels and I will meet with you so you can clearly see that my aspirations are not godly and I really don’t give a damn about what people think or how they treat me, be respectful and treat everyone fairly and be nice. You don’t have to have a million followers for me to comment on your platform, I do what I feel at any given moment and comment where I wish to, take care buddy and relax and look at things differently with positivity. The level of intelligence astounds me, oops I forgot, I thought I was on #MAFS 😂 just kidding, yes I know my whereabouts. Take care buddy.
  19. Hey buddy nothing to do with Greg grabbing the mike. Chalk and cheese. Sure...I can appreciate your excitement. It will be worth it over time. It’s is accurate and true. Announcement has been delayed but worth the wait guys. Please bear with me.
  20. FWIW thank you for checking back in with us. You don't owe us anything but your time and input is appreciated. Very excited to see what VRTP has next in the pipeline for their parks.
  21. Doesn't help when its promoted on this forum which gets them heaps of clicks.
  22. Hex fullstop is the poster child on how you turn a basic simple ride into a blockbuster attraction! Movie World needs to buy one for Show Stage already!
  23. Well here are some of my photos of the progress taken this afternoon: Steel beams sit on the future Big Dipper loading station: Overview of Maloney’s Corner and the construction going on: Foundations for the Big Dipper supports are preparing to be concreted: Good view of the construction of the revamped entry to Maloney’s Corner (though I reckon the other side of Coney Island should be opened up to the public as well which would make the back of the park more connected and feel truly permanent): Close up views of the (Whirly) Bug, Cloud 9 (which I also find to be a weird name for a ride), and the Freaky Frogs. Plus foundations for the Silly Subs and the Sledgehammer platform: Now this is something I’ve brought up before but I would really like to see the surrounding theming on the Tango Train, Volare and Wild Mouse to be actually finished during these renovations. There’s still minor touches that need to be done and it’s driving me nuts that it’s not completed yet. This is stuff I’ve enquired with the park about before and it’s still not done. So the question is when?
  24. Let's say by having three trains you can guarantee you can always have two trains running during the busiest 100 days of the year. If that second train conservatively improves hourly throughput by 200 (on Rivals it'd be much more), that's 1400 people back in the park potentially spending money on stuff on a typical 7 hour day. Let's say ultra-conservatively then that 50% of them spend an extra $20 on literally anything instead of waiting in a queue (my own knowledge suggests it's more like $50-70, but we'll go with worst case scenarios), that's an $14k extra a day. Over roughly 100 peak days of the year where the train will be running, that's 1.4m in additional revenue, which means a third train pays for itself in under a year. Even at a third of my already conservative numbers, you have an investment that pays for itself in under three years and generates six digit revenue every year for the life of the coaster. There's also additional on-flow effects from smaller queue times during peak periods which is best summarised as when you have high satisfaction rates with guest experience, folks spend more. Rivals has been doing 2+ hour wait times over the easter break. Arkham Asylum was consistently one of the worst waits in the park during peak periods. The years after Jet Rescue opened are widely panned as some of Sea World's worst. Exactly my point. Personally I reckon Dreamworld are fine for the next year or two with two trains - but as the crowds continue to come back in huge waves like they've done at Movie World the maths does check out.
  25. Good Morning everyone. And welcome to another exciting update of the construction. On Tuesday, I was looking from the Harbour Bridge on the train home, and I went. Oh goodie! A ride that will make me throw up! And that's the Sledgehammer... When I came back today, the poles that were there last week are now assembled. All that's left is the seats, and the loading platform. They've been replacing the boardwalk from Coney Island to Luna Land. This is in preparation for the new gate and sign. Which also looks a bit cartoony. That seems to be the coherent theme of this area. Because of the spot that Luna Land is. It's easier to change the theming. This can be seen in lots of parks around the globe! There have been no other rides put in other than Sledgehammer. They are doing some last jobs on Cloud 9 and Freaky Frog. And are gonna start testing Boomerang. Little Nippers is done. If you are wondering where these photos are taken at. The close up photos are taken at the Boardwalk and Peter Kingston Walkway. The 'Railway View' is taken on Cliff Street. The 'God's Eye View' is taken at the LPS Office on Glen Street. And views of the Big Dipper and over Coney Island are taken from Harry's Park on Glen Street. (Named after Harry Sidler.) That's all for today! Next update will be whenever I get there!
  26. I definitely agree @rappa with adding a water attraction and keeping it away from where the log ride was. Adding it too Ocean Parade would also make perfect sense. But if possible, I don’t think they should use the area behind WWW as you propose. I feel that area needs to be kept free for a future WWW expansion. If they take that land away then WWW will become stagnant and can never grow. DW does have the land that was flowrider, trolls and the scare maze. That is an area around 180 metres long and 35 metres wide (about 5,000 square metres) but some of the gravel land could be used if necessary. That then still leaves a significant amount of land for any future WWW plans. And that still leaves us with the entire Blue Lagoon and Log ride (22,000 square metres) to use for future attractions over the next 10-15 years for DW. If they wanted to add one more ride to the Dreamworks area, they would need to demolish the TOT station building, which would be a massive job, but it would gain them a additional 600 square metres too. And while that’s not worth it, they can’t leave that building there forever. But they will probably leave it for over 10 years if we base it off the parks history of SBNO attractions
  27. Yeah my bad @Gazza, they aren't mirrored. And look what i found... These were taken 1987, and there are no bumper boats but there is the coaster. Perhaps they were down on funds later on and sold the coaster to LPS to try stay afloat and replaced it with the boats?
  28. It doesn't look like the Mirrabooka body slides are identically mirrored, different number of turns The Hillarys slides are Australian Waterslides and Leisure.
  29. Have found some interesting stuff on old waterparks etc. in Perth recently, and felt like sharing/asking questions so if anyone knows they can share. Left out Great Escape Hillarys because it has its own thread. First up: Armadale Aquatic centre waterslides. Opened December 1981, closed circa 2015? 3 waterslides, built by someone knows that isn't me. 'Dipper Tube and 'Corkscrew Tube' slides (see second picture) opened somewhere around 5 years before the far right and locally dubbed 'fast tube'. Note the layout of the furthest right waterslide (bottom photo) and how a 'head first only' rule was in order (see second photo). Mirrabooka Action Park Opened sometime in the 80s in and closed <1994 Consisted of two open air, identical, mirrored slides and a green tube slide in the middle. Yet another small park to be accused of having 'kids stick rasors on the inside of the slides'. Also appears to have had a Pinfari coaster of some kind for a period of time (No rcdb listings or anything) Now, my questions to the community: What is the story surrounding the coaster at Mirrabooka? Who manufactured the slides at both parks? Who manufactured the Great Escape slides? (Rumour has it Action park sold the middle slide to Great Escape. However, looking at the Mirrabooka aerial and Hillarys on Google Earth, none of the slide layouts match up, and the tube support structures on the Great Escape slides are different to those at Mirrabooka) And, if Action Park didn't sell to Great Escape, were the slides just sccrpped?
  30. aww im sorry if i hurt his feelings, lets all attack the newbie like you did with David Bakas earlier in the thread, we all saw what opinions everyone had to say about him including you. Good luck getting any further updates from him on this forum.
  31. And whether or not a bush was going to be a fountain
