  1. The brake run is installed. It’s just the reverse half pipe to go
  2. I’ve been on some pretty awesome coasters overseas and Rivals is definitely up there. I think the coaster itself is world class. The queue definitely isn’t world class. It could be so much more immersive. But that’s not what this ride is about. There could be some theming and characters throughout the coaster track, but really, who cares. You don’t miss it and you’re going that fast you probably wouldn’t even notice. This coaster is world class because of its track layout and experience. They could’ve not bothered with backward seating, but they did, and there aren’t many places in the world where that’s an option. I respect that you may not see it as world class, but I highly disagree
  3. The track through the loop looks like it will be such a fun moment When it is such a nice day, the track colour is so vibrant And here is a look at the brake run
  4. No argument was being had, it was simply a discussion between adults with opposing viewpoints.
  5. I think my point is being missed. Rivals as good of a ride as it is, is not a world class ride like depicted. Not only that, it’s presentation is very much off note for what we should be expecting from the park. At the end of the day, it’s a good coaster for the market, but it’s an average hyper coaster by world standards, and unlike the other rides of the park, it doesn’t have any decent theming to back it up. Where is the rides magic? There isn’t any. I say the same about Green Lantern. It feels very much like a six flags ride, a plonk there, put in a garden, call it a name to suggest it has a theme and story, but in reality it has an incredibly weak story that it’s not even worth mentioning. Im happy with Superman replacing the SFX show, to me it has the magic, even if the courtyard is average. However it came at the expense of an attraction that “everyone could ride”, and I feel. An updated SFX show should have been put on in a new location. Movie World used to be a park where you didn’t have to ride the rides to have an enjoyable day out, now it’s a place where you have to ride the rides, there’s very little “showmanship” inside the park. The rides shouldn’t have come at the expense of the showmanship. That is why I rate current day movie world to be piss weak.
  6. Yes sir! Been on The Hunger Game Capitol Bullet Train coaster at Motiongate Dubai, another Mack triple launch coaster The intensity of the launch is not very close to a single launch going full speed. I’ve also been on Velociraptor coasted at IMG in Dubai and that’s a Blue Fire clone like ST, just it doesn’t have the triple launch, just one. So I feel as though I know what ST will be like, given I have been on the two halves of it in two other Mack coasters. I expect the twisted spike to have a better appeal, but the vertical spike on the Hunger Games coaster gave great airtime! With a faster launch from the Blue Fire model at full speed being achieved in this triple launch, I still feel like it will be incredible!! Absolutely no doubt it will be a great launch system, and the only triple launch coaster in Australia is a great title.
  7. Yeah, and that's the thing, it's different, and it's purely down to personal taste if it's 'good different', 'neutral different', or 'bad different'. I would argue it's good different, and I feel I could justify why, but if you can justify why you think otherwise, that's totally fine. I think a modern ride in that old school adventure ride style would work well. I think Justice Leauge already is that kind of ride, they just didn't add the preshow. I mean picture it, queue outside like when it was batride for a tour of the Hall of Justice, go into the first room, some explanations about the justice leauge, then news breaks of an alien invasion, and 'We need you to help us!' Throw in an explanation of the ride vechial and that you're meant to be teleporting when you go through the doors, give the 3D glasses a story that they'll protect you from the spores, and then boom! You're into the switch back room with fewer switch backs and less people in it. That is EXACTLY what old MW was like and I think it would work quite well with that ride. I think guests would revolt if you added a preshow to JL since it's been established for so long without one, but that element seems to be the classic thing that people are missing. Family friendly rides where the preshow is part of the attraction and makes the whole thing a more lengthy experience. I wouldn't be mad if they added 1 of those style rides, fixed HSD, replaced Arkham and did some version of a studio tour. Even without those though, I still rate the park now above what it was. Also one thing I would say, MW in 2019 with Arkham is better than MW 2021 without it. So long as Arkham's replacement is better, the comment that the park is at it's peak for me will still stand.
  8. When the Cubs are first put on display they are in that indoor display with windows for the public to view them through, to the right of The Den area. It’s currently behind the closed gate however
  9. You might have chosen the wrong hill to die on. The statement about how DC Rivals isn't a world-class attraction is very questionable. However, I think you have forgotten that majority of Movie World's guests have never even set foot into a foreign theme park. It does not matter if you consider DC Rivals to be lacking in originality in comparison to the world stage, since the general public have never even seen an attraction like it. The closest coaster to DC Rivals, with a regular chain-lift, non-inverted, no launch, would have been Gold Coaster. A relic from the 90s, from a company that ceases to exist. The Australian market has never even comprehend a full-circuit coaster that large. I was born in 2003, I cannot speak on anything Movie World related from the early 2000's. However, I somewhat agree. There is an argument to be had when discussing a drop in theming and film-making type attractions. But the argument about DC Rivals and Green Lantern is fatally flawed.
  10. I would argue - judging just the coaster itself, it's one of - if not, the best - hyper coaster out there. It is absolutely a world class ride.
  11. I have done Star Trek: Operation Enterprise which is Mack with a twisted spike, the launch isn't as powerful as Blue Fire (which I had written a few days prior) but bear in mind Star Trek has a lower top speed anyway. Its not as crazy as the launch on Superman, but it still feels respectable, and going up the spiral gives a bit of airtime and lengthens the ride time.
  12. But you just finished ranting about how they don't do that. In fact you 110% guaranteed it.
  13. iPlay is firmly in the market in Qld too with diversified option as well like clip & climb, high ropes etc
  14. I know how a lot of things work too, but i'm not going to jump on a forum and say "i know everything, believe me" with zero credible facts/statements/figures to back up what i am saying or who i am. Given the scandalous and agenda-driven, downright pathetic at times, integrity of the MSM in this country, and the world for that matter, the onus of proof is on them to show they are not being insensitive, conniving and tactless. Let's see what appears on our screens on Sunday. Their entire tagline is based around getting the family together to watch the show - which includes children - so if they focus on people dying - that is called instilling fear where fear does not need to be instilled, which will prove my point entirely. Lets reconvene this conversation on Sunday night....
  15. based on what? do you work for channel 7? are you producing this fluff piece? if not - you are just someone with an opinion, and whilst you're 100% welcome to it, giving it a 110% guarantee of accuracy is both naive and superfluous.
  16. I’m hoping they repaint it soon so it can match the vibrance of Steel Taipan
  17. I'll give you the 'replaced nothing' for GL, Batwing and west. Superman is an incredible coaster, and it is absolutely a great addition to the park (integrated far better than Rivals too) but at the loss of one of their last 'we're a park about making movies' attractions. Sure it was tired and hadn't been updated in years and it was easier to pave paradise and put up an accelerator than to refresh it that required specific movie making skill. SFX show was always repeatable - Most people I know would go every visit. Superman however is now a 'once and done' attraction for me (and sometimes not even once if the queue is too long), primarily because of the wait time and the stench of the unwashed in the queueline. I think suggesting Superman is better than the SFX show is really subjective. Not everyone enjoys high thrill. Not everyone meets the height requirements (and some are too tall!) but SFX literally burned through people and was a capacity monster (and filled out the day at MW as it went for more than 60 seconds), and actually let people explore movies. I love Superman - but I think comparing SE and SFX is like comparing apples with helicopters - no fair comparison. Doomsday's area is awesome. The design is great. But the interactive elements were always going to break down and become unusable, and the ride is a complete disappointment, and Blazing Saddles was a really nicely themed area leading to the Western Stage to really set the mood. Sure, it was still a 'nothing' area - but that was by design - it was meant to be a crowd containment area for a really popular showstage - that then never got used. My issues with the doomsday \ blazing saddles area all stem from one single thing - which leads me to - Road runner. Junior coaster. 1000% necessary in the kids area (although the increased height restriction killed much of that), but at the expense of - another show stage. Roadrunner wasn't a 'nothing' replacement. It replaced the kids area stage. Maybe not as good as the Western Showstage, but it kept the kids entertainment INSIDE the kids area. Folks with little'uns are less likely to trek across practically the entire width of the park to see a Looney Tunes show that isn't in the Looney Tunes land. Which is why the show saw low attendance, which eventually led to them canning the show altogether which is why a huge amount of stadium seating is now hidden behind some black drapes and the stage area has been converted into a glorified prop house. Losing these two show stages mean temporary performances occur in the HSD Arena, hardly ideal for non-car shows, or they occur in the middle of main street. Static performances in your main (and only) arterial link between the front and back of the park choke up the area. There are no upwards seating pits, so its standing room only and the shows only attract a handful of guests because nobody else can see once the crowd thickens. (And watching it on the big screens isn't nearly the same). Movie World has had a lot of improvements, and a lot of things are a change for the better. But there are some changes which are only subjectively better for some people in some respects. And some 'nothing' replacements weren't actually 'nothing'. And some changes are ultimately worse. Is the overall package better overall? I think the answer there is a big 'that depends'... I'll leave you with my final thoughts - Back when we had Western Showstage, SFX, Studio Tour, BATR, LTRR, PASS - was the park a full day park? ...And barring one-train ops with 5 minute despatch times, is the park still a full day park?
  18. I'm so lost as to the reasoning behind why you think this is bad. We've seen increasingly that they're opening up the park later, and night time events are clearly part of the long term future plans for the park. Why would adding something permanently that lights up and also looks good during the day be a waste? Best attraction is obviously open to huge amounts of debate, but Superman, Rivals, West and Scooby to me are about the best rides the park has ever had. I think there is room for a slow dark ride to be added; of the 4 the park has had (Toons, Gremlins, Batman Justice Leauge), JL is unfortunately the weakest. Add another ride like that which takes a solid 20mins to go through and has a proper preshow/story and I think the balance of the park is close to being spot on. The only things I miss from the old days are the 2 opening day Stunt Shows (which I would instantly forget if HSD was good) and the studio tour. Everything else that's gone was very 'meh' to me.
  19. ^I think though the difference comes down to @Slick's old adage - a replacement has to be better than the original. I know there's some debate on some Universal attractions, but I think overall, the park's lineup today isn't suffering like MW's is.
  20. Came here just to say much the same. Precincts were on the nose when they were just different scare zones at fright nights. Precincts should stay in the Police Academy universe where they belong. To all park operators - PLEASE stop calling new lands, zones, areas (or even just singular attractions) a "precinct". I'll even buy you a thesaurus if it helps you. /rant
  21. Dronkey Flyer maintenance extended until June 25. I would say a Dreamworks rebranding is coming. Pretty poor the park waits until 9:00am on the day its supposed to open to extend maintenance.
  22. I can 110% guarantee you are wrong.
