  1. I'm going to speculate here. The reason we're not seeing 3d signage any more is because of the difficulty and effort in adhering to the guidelines of double-fixing. I remember when I was reading through the coroner report for the RTRR and in it, engineers were pointing out fixings in the ride with single fixing points and that they should be addressed. You can see such an example in the new sign in the image above, there's the chain holding the sign as originally but also there's now an additional wire as backup. The incident DaptoFunlandGuy described at Wonderland is why. Something actually occurred, it was risk-assessed and now probably every insurance company for theme parks in Aus is going to require double-fixings or they'll have to pay additional premiums. When you've got a 3d manufactured sign, how do you guarantee double wired fixings for each element stuck on the front without making it look like trash? Sure, you can glue/screw/bolt but a bean counter in insurance land somewhere will probably say not good enough. There comes a point where a standard printed sign does the job well enough and is not worth the effort in fighting the bureaucrats.
  2. *bangs head against wall. Mack would take the clearance envelopes for both seat types, overlay them and then trace around the outside and then that's the clearance envelope you use across the attraction. You wouldn't do it twice.
  3. News tonight stated ST beings testing on Friday.
  4. A pull through isn't just to check the rider envelope. Many components can be checked during a pull through. Brake alignment, sensors getting triggered, undercarriage clearance, train hook alignment, train binding etc. I know at one stage, coaster standards in America required all coasters to undergo a pull through. I don't know if this is still the case in America.
  5. @Slick I think it will definitely stand out because even at this height, it can already be seen from the highway
  6. Nobody is holding their arms out during a pull through to see if their arms hit. /s The envelope guide they attach to the train would measure the worst case no matter what train it is fixed to.
  7. The T&Cs of the memberships is that if they remove something they will replace it with an offering of similar value, or something to that effect. Given FN is the most expensive of the night events, 50% off is a bit of a kick to the groin.
  8. Serious question, what does a pull through achieve that a tape measure (or surveyor) can't? Or even just fitting the same clearance gauge directly to the track at points of concern. Seems a very tedious process in the age of full computer design and engineering, that we'd still need to manually inch the coaster train around the whole circuit.
  9. 100% the vultures have been updated. They were a three dimensional signboard below the vultures, and they're now a digitally printed signboard in the same place. similar style, but garishly modern compared to its surrounds. Thankfully - google is my friend.
  10. I'm assuming the spinning train would have a larger envelope overall (it would exceed the standard train envelope being that its more elevated and spins), so realistically they'd really only need to pull that template through as it's kinda redundant doing the other, right? Stop a train on the MCBR or even the launch transfer track, move the other train into station, cycle other train to the maintenance track, place in maintenance shed, profit! I'm assuming there's going to be 5 blocks (station, launch, MCBR, final brakes, maintenance transfer), plenty of opportunities to shuffle two trains around.
  11. This was already mentioned in the Buzzsaw thread.
  12. In a surprising move Luna Park Sydney is still currently moving forward with it's plans for this year Halloscream event and has recently opened auditions up for Scare Actors. Event is featuring 3 scare mazes, two returning from last year including Decay Mart and Outback Slaughterhouse and a brand new maze ‘Rain Dead’ themed as "a near-future world where a secret facility is testing the effects of a deadly rain, the invisible enemy!". Seems crazy to me that they're still pushing ahead with rehearsals set to start on October 8th and the event running for 10 nights from the 22-31st of October.
  13. Yeah I wouldn't call it 'very exciting', so i assume there's more than a little sarcasm there. It is... refreshing to see them updating something that has no direct revenue impact. kudos.
  14. You mean they've reduced their prices in recognition of the fact that their product offering is reduced? this is UNTHINKABLE! /s
  15. I don't think anything in the Big Dipper simulation video is meant to be accurate except for the track layout itself.
  16. >Gets $70m loan from government >Reports $83m loss Whoops
  17. What do you mean? Surely talk about how to make a logo in photoshop and meet building codes coupled with how excited they will be when the first USER gets on is amazing marketing. #whyyoudontgetdullcommercialarchitectstodesignthemedattractions
