  1. It was just an ad for the new attraction that came up on Instagram. Here are some screenshots of what is shown (nothing major, just some new angles/renders)
  2. WhiteWater World is reopening these school holidays and we're celebrating with a SPLASH! Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 September Brought to you by our friends at Billabong, Quicksilver and Roxy, we're serving up the ultimate opening party with a DJ, entertainment, games & prize giveaways, all FREE with your WhiteWater World entry
  3. I like it when parks do big party's like this. it really brings the park to life with music, games entertainment happing throughout the park.
  4. More than just a clearance issue – it tried to pass straight through a support column for the track below: https://www.parkz.com.au/photo/14866-DC_Rivals_HyperCoaster_construction/gallery/sort/newest/location/dc-rivals-hypercoaster/offset/207 The ride also had a major section of track removed for reprofiling a year or so after it opened: https://www.parkz.com.au/article/2018/08/24/620-Track_comes_down_from_DC_Rivals_HyperCoaster_during_annual_maintenance.html Even if the design process is perfect (and as we see, it's glaringly not), there can still be flaws that appear during fabrication, shipping, ride construction as well as theming/landscaping construction. There's also the fact that you probably also want to double check that the train can be safely winched around the track, because there's basically a 100% chance that it will stall at some point during its 30-odd year life.
  5. Events like these (and everything else the park) has been doing is great for the park. For years we have been saying the park was lacking events, but over the last couple years they’ve really started to pull through with them. This year we’ve had one every school holidays and this small event too. Well done to them for lifting their game
  6. I have seen new ideas getting tested but I have not seen many complete builds. Mack have a department that runs in house test. Mack also has the advantage owning a theme park where they can retrofit a ride and carry out large scale test.
  7. nevermind. I've confused the two. I had seen prototype coasters put together bolted to cast concrete blocks in the middle of a patch of dirt, but the more I look, the more I think it might have been the S&S Axis...
  8. Some manufacturers put entire rides or sections of rides together in the factory to test fit, but I'm not sure what determines the need.
  9. You don't have to go to America to find things engineers have got wrong. A lot of things you walk past all the time, like the performance centre in Brisbane had major engineering flaws. Cross bracing only installed because during construction the splayed walls failed. Trying to remember, but didn't a post/column on Rivals get modified during construction because of a clearance issue?
  10. Its purely cost. Someone would have paid a painter to paint those 3d signs and keep them in good condition. Same with all the signwriting and murals. Now they just feed them out of a printer and stick them on and do without a painter.
  11. I don’t think we will see it open in September. Rivals went under a months worth of testing before it soft opened. I’d say we could see it open for the Halloween event
  12. Oh wow! I thought only close-contacts were meant to know this but oh well, it's the news. I guess I can talk about it freely now.
  13. News tonight stated ST beings testing on Friday.
  14. Guess I should have done, just didn't want to toot my own horn too much, so to speak. Oh well... toot toot!
