  1. For me, I want to say that this is all part of the plan. It is generating buzz, and drip-feeding the release to keep the conversation going - a few months back we got the screen caps from the ad showing the artists impressions, now we have the name registrations. Dreamworld management must know by now that the second they lodge a trademark, we're going to know. From memory someone identified them on Parkz with both Taipan and Jungle Rush pretty quickly. So either they file a few names at the same time to throw us off the scent or introduce a few red herrings to keep us guessing, or they do one, and then play it up... "whoopsie, we, the big multi-million dollar professional operation didn't mean to let that name slip! PLEASE don't tell anyone! Shhhhh!!!!!!" If it's intentional, it's brilliant fucking marketing. And if it was accidental - they're very slow learners. You can't expect public records to stay secrets. You just need to manage them the right way. As for 'social media influencers' or 'pages' - I know there's some independent operators out there that do not take any perks from parks and maintain their integrity, and speak freely. I know others that lap up everything a park offers them and won't say a negative word about them lest they damage the relationship. And I know others still that will maintain mostly independence but will take each situation case-by-case - which is I assume Ogre's situation here. As long as a content producer is honest with their position, I don't see an issue with any of the above. I don't care if you're getting a freebie from a park - you've put the work in to get that sort of following, and it's not really any different to what a park provides mainstream media journalists to promote their products - so why shouldn't you be able to accept a few perks from the parks you cover if it fits with how you want to manage your following. As long as you disclose the quid pro quo. If you wouldn't feel comfortable having your name published in a newspaper because of the expensive item you got from the park, and you would go so far as to petition a court to suppress your name from official proceedings, you probably shouldn't have taken the expensive item.
  2. Maybe the Substation that was installed when the coaster was built, and how they had to thread it around the already existing TOT utilities. (Credit to Parkz) "A new substation has been put in place to power the coaster. Its power capacity is 0.5 megawatts, or just under a quarter of the power requirements of Tower of Terror's launch."
  3. Assume this will be sent to all eventually. My pass was purchased with Carnivale as an inclusion, but the pass wasn't activated until after Carnivale had finished this year - so should qualify, but so far no email. It's good to know they are at least conscious of the impacts to passholders and are actively seeking to offer an alternative. This is higher than my usual expectations from Village - but it still should have been communicated to affected parties before (or at least at the same time) they scrubbed the website and got noticed by a bunch of thoosies.
  4. Excavation works now happening on the other side of the train line closest to Main Street, curious what was under there relating to Motocoaster that had to be dig up? (Credit to Theme Park Ogre)
  5. I'm starting to think DW's marketing strategy is just "accidental comedy." They leaked enough station photos to feed the internet, then tried to stop us when we figured out the ride name. Congratulations, you've successfully invented a treasure hunt and then tried to ban maps. DW: "Here's a pile of clues!" Everyone: "We solved it." DW: "How dare you!" 🤣
  6. Was in park this arvo, this whole section has now been fenced with temp fencing as well. Whatever works this is for, look like they will be starting pretty soon.
  7. Not naming names, but I can definitely say that some local creators do play it way too safe by focusing on positive aspects and skirting over the negatives. I found it particularly noticeable when Wizard of Oz land came out. As for my own content, I personally try to maintain my honest opinions, good or bad, saying things as I see them, even if it does potentially put me on the naughty list. I'd like to think my content hold the balance well, pointing out both sides of the coin, especially the side that stands out most on the day. This may seem contrary to the removal of my coverage of the Dreamworld trademark yesterday, I know. But that's more just being respectful and understanding to the request, and less due to the censoring of my opinions so I can keep the door open. You could say that I'm no longer inheritenty an independent voice due to this, and I guess that's true from some perspectives. One can have a fostered bias without being conscious of it. At least in my mind though, it won't stop me from critiquing the parks when they mess up!
