  1. ETR posted saying last night he is speculating TT2 could reopen as early as today - theorising that Zamperla \ CP are just going to increase the frequency of maintenance replacement for the part impacted. So assuming its a wheel, just replacing it every 1000-2000 cycles instead of every 5000. I assume its short term while they redesign because long term that gets very expensive, but at least in the short term they get the ride re-opened, albeit at an increased expense.
  2. I feel confident that the zamperla track added to the ride was made to copy in every possible way the existing track of intamin such that there would be little noticeable differences between them. I don't think the track is in play here. All i've seen so far suggests that components are wearing out quicker than anticipated. Everything is pointing to the wheels reacting differently to expectations (maybe weight balancing with the non-uniform guests loaded into it is causing uneven issues to develop not picked up in water dummy testing?) Maybe the running surface of the wheel is wearing out too fast? Maybe the wheel itself is heating up and not dissipating the heat of the launch fast enough? Maybe a combination - heating up the compound causing the running surface to fail? The statements made by the park suggest they're redesigning something on the train. My money is somewhere in this ballpark.
  3. Yeah absolutely. I think a lot of the media they've been putting out lately (especially the flash BTS stuff) is probably a proving ground prior to Woz. I keep saying it - and i'm getting really excited to see what they put out for that. You know what, at least now I know why the box is empty which is better than the previous situation where you had to return to the restaurant, park your car, go inside, get the manager, and have them tell you it's your fault you didn't check their website for chicken shortages before ordering.
  4. I don't mind giving credit where it's due. Their optics have been terrible these last couple of weeks. this doesn't make up for it, but the transparency is refreshing after years of them just saying 'check the website'. They need to do this more. I'm sure given the details involved, this had to be scripted, shot, edited, and either at the start, the end, or both, it had to go through multiple approval levels in the C-suite and potentially run by Intamin, Mack and WB. Honestly I'm surprised there's nothing mentioned about Flash to 'offset' the 'damage' - especially since its been operating all week. Given all of that, getting it out sooner with this level of polish is probably very difficult. We've all seen recently what happens when you do a social media video with extremely low effort.
  5. I saw a discussion online about the main arena shows over the years at Movie World. Some differing opinions were shared, but a moderator shut down the conversation because they didn't like what was being said. I am keen to get an enthusiast's viewpoint on the MW Arena shows, namely: Police Academy Stunt Show Hollywood Stunt Driver (Mitsubishi Evo Edition) Hollywood Stunt Driver 2 (Showtime Ute Edition) I'm not a big fan of polls, but in this case i've made an exception. Share your thoughts below too?
  6. When you say the first style, are you judging it based on a google search, or based off of the dreamworld t-shirt I gave as an example? The point about dye sub shirts is that you can create whatever you want. So what i'm reading about the 'messy' and 'ugly' sounds like it comes down to your taste about the dreamworld artwork specifically? And these concepts - which were available in Universal: (I own one of these nintendo shirts and wish it had a collar). The point is - with Dye Sublimation, you can pretty much put whatever you want on the shirt, and they're far cooler than the vinyl print shirts, where the entire fabric is coated with a layer of vinyl that doesn't breathe and just makes you sweat - like these:
  7. They're out there if you look around....
  8. I didn't realise we were being so pedantic, but in the case of two dimensional space, X & Y are the commonly used labels. You wouldn't skip over Y to refer to something as X & Z unless a third dimension was possible. (And given the artwork and intent of the ride description, a third dimension wasn't seen as applicable). You are correct that Z is traditionally drawn as the vertical axis, but this also depends on your perspective, doesn't it?
  9. There's two directions you can go with these. Both of which you will find with a little google image search. Try the following searches: dye sub polo shirt These are full colour, and can be as simple or as detailed of a design as you like. There really isn't much of a limit when it comes to dye sublimation printing. Dreamworld almost got it right when they produced a dye-sub t-shirt. If it'd had a collar, it would have been perfect! (This is the first result I could find on google when searching for it, as this style of shirt is no longer sold on their online merch store) dri-fit polo shirt This is a much simpler design. Searching this on google will return numerous results of simplistic styled and comfortable polo shirts in a dri-fit fabric (also known as 'wick-away') which keeps the wearer cool. Nike and Under Armour are big producers of shirts like this and they're worn by lots of sportspeople. Tiger Woods for example has his own shirts produced by Under Armour. A lot of golfers wear this style also The important thing about these shirts is the style of fabric. They're not cotton, or a cotton-poly blend. They tend to have stretchy, breathable fabric containing a percentage of elastane or other flexible fabric. (The wicking fabric and breathability is certainly welcomed in the climate of SEQ) Check out the description of this one, for example - Men's UA Matchplay Polo | Under Armour AU As another example - Disney produced merchandise for World of Avatar which was co-branded by Nike, and the shirt was so comfortable! 10. I mean, the gondolas spin, so riders do experience movement on the Z axis...
  11. Rumour has it that the train rattles too much in the launch and the train is contacting the launch equipment, which has a pretty narrow margin of clearance. It was rubbing on the the launch modules causing it to slow, and not clearing the tower. No official source, just chit chat amongst different groups i've overheard. take it with a few chips of cedar and some salt.
  12. Look i'd prefer they have more ride specific merch. Heck, last time I went to knott's they had 'new' merch featuring all of their 'former' attractions. For their 30th anniversary, MW released a T-shirt with things like gremlins and stuff on it and i've seen a lot of those shirts around... Here's what i'd like to see (in some semblance of priority): Polo Shirts. Good quality, decent array of sizes, comfortable to wear in a dri-fit fabric or dye-sub design. Full colour artwork\design, or more of a golf-polo with just the small logo. Honestly, i'd buy the whole set if they did one for each ride \ colour. ZIP UP Hoodies. With pockets. Hoodies without zips are a pain in the ass. Hoodies without pockets also. But don't go overboard with designs. one or two in the park is fine - by all means do one a bit more plain \ black \ masculine, and do another that is more colourful or feminine. His and hers are definitely a thing that will sell more than one. Doing one for every DC character is overkill. Release a new one every year, retire an old one. Ride specific products - and not just the same drink bottle or keyring with a different logo on it. Make each thing unique, or something different about it. In the same vein as number 3 - try to tailor your offering. Wild West should have old school curios. metal objects, wood objects. the kind of thing you'd see in the old west. Oz can have kansas-y olden stuff and whimsical colourful oz stuff. Superman is set in metropolis, don't forget it. Importantly though don't over-design it and end up offering a $450 item that will gather dust. It has to fit in the affordable category to move the volume. Never thought i'd be in the camp, but spirit jerseys. Bought one in Hong Kong and i'm a convert. they're lighter than a jumper, loose fitting and comfortable. you can have the same style but release a new design every year and it will keep selling. Yes they are different enough to hoodies that I know I personally would buy both. This one is a long time coming - but a specialty food item or two. To do this, you need a food outlet that produces something popular, that has a signature addition - like a burger with a special sauce. Maybe for Oz they do a Kansas-style chicken wing, and they have Toto's Wing Sauce. custom label it and sell it in the gift shop. Nanocoasters or Cutouts are cool and all. I'd like to see them, but I acknowledge they're pretty niche, but even if they did limited runs of things, or a pre-order or something, I know a lot of fans of the park would order.
  13. Absolutely preposterous. They've all done their training. They've all worked a hard day on a new attraction. The last thing they're going to do is intentionally cause a fault when its time to knock off. Don't be so absurd.
  14. It's a relocation. It was meant to be temporary\filler for scooby. It's opened much later than planned, and probably cost more too. It's not the show-stopping new attraction set to open this year. I'm quite happy for them to go skint on this thing. the best visuals are the fact that superman is all around you too - we finally get to watch SE from inside the helix as well. I don't want a bunch of themed tunnels or some shit blocking the view. If WOz turns out amazing, i'm totally ok with Flash being this way.
  15. Thats a really long pathway to the Dreamworld Wildlife Foundation. I can't even find where it is on the map, but i'm assuming it's somewhere near the Tigers? That's called 'East'. It is apparently quite common to balance things out maintenance wise, but I only ever see West running. First there was blue screen, then there was green screen. Now beige screen is used to hide objects in front of a plain coloured wall. The sign is nice enough but the colour choices are horrible against the background store colour.
  16. I'm hearing the ride is cycling today with passengers. Not sure if they're staff to get the cycle count up for ops or if it has soft opened, but seems like it will be announced as open any day now.
  17. Thankyou for announcing the announcement that an announcement was about to be announced.
  18. BGH aren't in it for the long term, they're in it for the money. But they do need a product they can sell to an eventual buyer, and since the land isn't theirs anymore, it won't go the wonderland route, so they're going to need to start rolling this turd in glitter because they sure as shit don't want to polish it. I've been saying this for a while now. The tide is turning.
