Dreamworld Updated Park Map - 2023
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
This is a far better map style than those weird 'realistic 3d maps'... -
The dichotomy of these two comments is only exacerbated by the fact that they were one after the other in your reply As the old saying goes 'if you build it, they will come' You're right about this for sure. I think they've pitched "theme park" as a way to get locals on board given SEQ's reputation for parks. The issue on the sunshine coast is that everything is so far away from each other. Australia Zoo, Aussie World, the Aquarium, the Ginger Factory - they're all decently isolated from each other and that makes trekking around the sunshine coast to visit them all an arduous task. And only one of those is located right on the highway to make it convenient. The GC's major parks are either co-located, placed right on the highway, or located adjacent to a large population centre that hosts many accommodation options within a few minutes of the facilities. All of the things the sunshine coast does not have. I know this proposal is within Moreton Bay Regional - but it is essentially the gateway to the sunshine coast and would add value to that region. I daresay they're not experts in park building but if they get approval, they'd be wise to engage someone with experience who will no doubt steer us away from 1980s Vekoma.

The park changed ownership a little while ago, right? -
That'd be a first. Unfortunately human nature is to take the most efficient route which means most people heading for the ride entrance won't actually see it as they are practically underneath the sign the whole time It's undeniably a choice, I believe it to be the wrong one. I think you meant "diminishes" - and I disagree. It is collectively a themed 'land' however you can just as easily exit riders out of the attraction to the rear so that they experience the Villains area after riding. At any rate, this discussion was entirely about a billboard facing the wrong way in an AI generated theme park that is never going to be built, and the only reason Doomsday is topical is because it had a similar bridge facing what, in many people's opinion, is the wrong way. Are you arguing that the AI slop billboard of random inspirational words is facing the correct way? Because that's the point being made.
-
See... I wanted to try and find a picture of a billboard that was directly behind a tall building so nobody except the people in the building could see it, but nobody is that stupid to build a billboard behind a building. The best viewing angle for the doomsday bridge is the one seen in the Parkz photo above, which is not generally at the height most guests will ever get to see. Because people are navigating around a corner to enter the queue, they're typically looking down, and those not navigating to the ride queue are facing away from the sign because they're looking at the interactive features in and around the precinct. Yes, the ride name sign \ bridge should be over the entrance to the ride queue. But the ride queue should not be accessed from the back. Like I already said... it's facing the wrong way. And billboards shouldn't face into a building - it defeats their purpose. Plus, this isn't a bridge. this is just random AI slop YOႱИƎ ƎVAH ИUꟻ

Dreamworld - Something big is coming

TBH i'm surprised they didn't utilise the Dreamworld Theatre. the video wall would easily changeover to BB styling for broadcast. (Maybe that's their wet weather plan for the future)- 147 replies

Can you feed it to us on a spoon, because other than playing Rugby for the bedford blues and a Zambrero empire spanning two countries - what else is there to find? (Just to be clear here - I'm not rubbishing the Z - just asking for more info.)

It's hard to tell what you're indicating - but taking our lead from most of your posts shitting on the park, it was a fair assumption that your post was intended to ridicule. The emoji didn't alter that.- 147 replies

While Australia has typically had a 'traditional' house with ceilings and the like, there are plenty of versions internationally shot on sound stages that have nothing but trussing and rigging overhead.- 147 replies

From what I'm aware, Sky Voyager and SX360 ran into issues due to the changing regs around that time. Without directing anything at particular manufacturers - they may assume they are compliant with Australian regs without realising they have changed. They can provide assurance they meet the standards without becoming aware that those standards changed. At any rate, i've simply put forth a suggestion on why, based on historic examples. i'm not suggesting it as fact, nor should it be read as so. Feel free to put forth your own suggestions on why the ride has essentially sat for months.

Sea World skews younger. while the park is busy, the younger families tend to drop off earlier in the afternoon and the park is a lot quieter close to closing. Without a night event to anchor later attendance, I don't see much merit in SW operating later, and there isn't much point opening earlier if maintenance and animal services aren't ready.

My thoughts are different manufacturers having different capacity to address these issues in a timely way - though i've no idea which manufacturers are involved for most flats.

The Wet N Wild hours are a good extension this time of year. It's a shame they haven't gotten around to building out the precinct to attract people after hours. I would have liked to have seen Dreamworld and WWW do longer hours over the period - seeing the park after dark is a completely different experience. You can still get a lot done in one day. Ironically though - even with MWs hours (and I double checked, park gates and rides are open for the same time - none of this gates open 30 minutes before business, which is a good thing) I've zero doubt during these peak dates it will still be impossible to ride everything. I'm betting DCR, SDSC, WWF and WOZ will run 90-120 minute queue minimums all summer, which even at 90 minutes equals 7.5 hours of back-to-back rides in a park only open for 8.5 hours. I'm unsure if they'll manage to get Superman open. Right now the maintenance schedule says Superman will be open over Christmas - with the 'unplanned closure' only marked on the schedule until the end of November. The park will be missing the capacity for sure - but either way you'd have no chance of getting through all the majors in one day, let alone GL, JL, FSF, Roxy or the new Stunt Show - and that's without breaking for lunch.

I could sarcastically pose many reasons it could be but that wouldn't be helpful. The first realistic options I can come up with is perhaps that the regulatory requirements in QLD are stricter post-TRRR, and like Sky Voyager, perhaps the regulations for compliance are causing a delay. A smaller park would have less resources to throw at such a problem so it could be taking longer to piece through everything they need to.
