  1. Are you a passive aggressive f**kwit in real life too? Or just save it for internet forums? Not every decision prior management made is immediately wrong and needs correction because someone else is now in charge. Once again, entirely irrelevant as the polar bears have not been hand reared since birth and accustomed to being interacted with daily by humans. They are not having their major stimulus removed
  2. This isn’t done to keep tigers in a better condition and longer, or it would have happened over a decade ago. I can tell you more staff at dw have had injuries from koalas and kangaroos in the park but that doesn’t sell papers like “tiger attack” does, and there has been no decrease in interaction with those animals in the name of staff and guest safety or animal happiness Conversations with people. there are many within the park that firmly disagree with the decision. The interactive presentations were hugely popular and drove home the conversation message, and encouraged donations. I believe, and am not alone in that belief, that the removal of said presentation will decrease interest in the concept, exposure to the message, donations, and therefore the extent to which the dreamworld wildlife fund can have a positive impact overseas. Only time will tell.
  3. From my understanding, the change to operational model has nothing to do with decreasing risk of injury to humans, and everything to do with bending to societal pressures around wild animals in captivity and the unnatural relationship they therefore have with humans. And whilst that’s not an entirely ridiculous decision, i think in some select environments where that interaction has decades of success and flow on benefits to the conversation of a species, that you can stand by your successes and not flip it around n its head.,
  4. The polar bears have never had human interaction in terms of shared spaces like the tigers have however, so it’s vastly different to pull back from something that is all these tigers have known their whole life (and for multiple generations). i strongly believe the step away from human/handler interaction is the wrong call here, and simply being made to placate the vocal minority. The park is between a rock and hard place from a PR perspective but their decades of success with TI and associated conservation efforts was telling enough to weather any outrage and push on imo. Losing their most experienced handlers due to their change in operation should have, imo, seen the entire concept just retired and the tigers moved to other parks/zoos
  5. Absolutely no doubt. Google doesn’t think like a human as it isn’t one, so doing a search and saying Google doesn’t agree doesn’t factor into the thought process of the creative/marketing people making naming decisions even the Simpsons choice of name Jane was, whether intentional or not, was linkage to Tarzan’s’ Jane. The character was based on Joan Embery as you said, but they chose Jane instead of Joan due to the fact of familiarity around jungle and the name Jane - and that all stems from Tarzan. im not up in arms they chose Jane as the name, doesn’t bother me in the slightest, but it’s been chosen as a jungle linkage name that evokes a sense of commonality
  6. Like general public sentiment nor the media would care about causality. Happened at the park = the parks responsibility
  7. Yeah that’s a massive faux pas by Bikash there absolutely unnecessary and unprofessional to mention DW. We get annoyed when media mention TRRR unnecessarily so for the COO to do it is plain horrible
  8. There is no doubt the name is chosen as a known reference to Jane from Tarzan.
  9. Couple of thousand people with cameras in their pockets and the ability to instantly post to social media says yes….
  10. It always had a full kitchen, don’t forget billabong was a buffet Restaurant. this won’t be quick service, by the sounds of things it was be a proper sit down a la carte restaurant rather than a buffet again however
  11. oh well, will have to look at some dolphins instead...
  12. Theme park giant Dreamworld has announced a restaurant as the final addition to its new precinct Rivertown, in a feast for your stomach and senses. Jane Rivertown’s Restaurant is set to open in late 2024 and will offer immersive and interactive dining experiences including lifelike animatronic animals including a python, talking parrot, snapping crocodile, orangutang, and family of monkeys in the rafters. Decorated with a suspended canoe, cargo nets and jungle wildlife, the restaurant also showcases items collected by the fictional adventurer Jane, including a beautiful grandfather clock, oversized masks, and rare antiques from across the globe. Dreamworld commercial and facilities director Dwayne Clark said there were some exciting surprises awaiting guests at the bar. “We’ve planned some special touches around the bar that will truly add to the experience. “Jane’s Rivertown Restaurant is the final piece of Rivertown, and it is set to be one of the most dynamic and immersive dining experiences on the Gold Coast. “We’ve designed this space to entertain, surprise, and delight our guests at every turn, it’s an experience unlike any other,” he said. The restaurant will be able to seat up to 280 people and will include an events and conference space with capacity for up to 120 people. The restaurant will also hold a 12.5 metre long themed boat bar, which will serve as the central hub of the dining area. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/entertainment/whats-on/interactive-dining-experience-coming-to-theme-park-giant-dreamworld/news-story/5e93d83d88add795ac304904121b8990
  13. Haha i had family there yesterday from interstate who had an amazing day and had zero issues with ride closures Food prices at DW are the best of any theme park DW has more seating than any park on the GC You either have ridiculous expectations or were high all day
  14. For lack of a better place to put them without bumping a ridiculously old thread, here is a couple of photos of the storm damage from todays FY24 presentation
  15. Couple of photos from todays FY24 presentation
  16. Given the arena was used for queuing for DCeased last year, I don’t reckon that’s happening…
  17. When it comes to VTP of late, I don’t think anything is off the table or any previously made announcement is beyond change/backflip given what we have seen with the monorail, FNs and Sound Stage.
  18. Last year was the weakest I’d seen in a decade, so i didn’t really have an appetite to go again this year, but the same 5 mazes? Again? They won’t hit capacity on any night unless it’s through freebies/promo
  19. That’s a hell of a bump to then get it incredibly wrong
  20. Never understood why people do the rides, or at least prioritise them, on FN. the mazes are there just for the event, the rides are always there. WC is the better event for getting on night rides
  21. No one is saying that. Pretty sure Dapto is referring to the fact Bikash has a habit of going a little overboard with his promotion of things to the point of it being a little fanciful and over-embellished. Everything is always “the first” of its kind, which when it impacts the overall experience is fine “first triple launch coaster!” for example. But “first time we’ve built a new land from the ground up?” Not a selling point anyone really gives two hoots over, so why embellish the truth ?
  22. The Gold Coast’s biggest new theme park attraction in years is on track to open by Christmas in the latest pitch to lure domestic and international visitors back to the city. Construction is in full swing of the “world-first” $50m Wizard of Oz precinct at Warner Bros Movie World at Oxenford, with Village Roadshow bosses tipping the family friendly multi-ride area will take the city down the yellow brick road of prosperity. Village chief operating officer Bikash Randhawa said it would be able to accommodate more than 2000 people every hour. “This is something that has never been done before, so the beauty of this attraction is that everything has had to be built from scratch. “There were numerous people from Warner Brothers Discovery, our thematic team and our internal teams who had to create every square inch of this area from nothing. “What we’ve achieved here, especially with all the talent and the skill set coming out of Gold Coast, and to be able to do something that has not been done anywhere in the entire world is a big tick for tourism, and a big tick for the city of Gold Coast. “Theme parks drive visitation and I believe this will be something that is so iconic that, for years and years to come, we’ll have families come here with mums, dads and kids, who will one day bring their own children, making it a generational piece.” The attraction was first announced in July 2022. It will have two family-friendly rides, including a multi-launch coaster, capable of reaching speeds of almost 70km/hr around a 454m track and a racing coaster where thrill seekers will travel simultaneously on two 220m tracks reaching speeds of up to 58km/hr. It follows the recent opening of it's The Flash Speed Force ride at Easter. The Wizard of Oz precinct is being built on the former location of the Arkham Asylum roller coaster, which was originally known as the Lethal Weapon ride. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/future-gold-coast/warner-bros-movie-world-gold-coast-first-look-at-wizard-of-oz-precinct-attraction/news-story/e82f1aa3796ab35c4018ebb0ae2890e8 Did I miss the part where the suspended family coaster was having multiple launches?
  23. Not in full, but they pop up and i read them often. must have been a super busy day, but now I know they still employ that I’ll alter the advice I give to people, I’d honestly never heard of it happening at all recently
