Technically though, right now, there's room.

I'd much rather hyperion than a refreshed flat ride that they spent $20m on.

and yes - we all know why.

Comparing a relocation from the park next door to a world class hypercoaster is insane.

Would a ride like Hyperion even work at Movie World, there is a ride on the other side of the park that is offering a similar ride experience. Wouldn't you prefer a more diverse coaster line-up?

I'd like to see Movie World get another world-class thrill ride as much as the next guy, but it's not that simple. Movie World is landlocked, with a working movie studio behind it, residential very close to the side, and then swamp land and top golf on the other side.

This is a park that will have to be very clever with future large scale investments, being forced to use the limited amount of land left very wisely. Future attractions may need to come with some major sacrifices.

I also just want to express how good I think this relocation is, and how much it will do for that area of the park. It really opens it up, and makes it more attractive of a place to be in. Outside of Arkham and Superman, it always just felt dead and depressing, it wasn't really that nice compared to other areas of the park.

Could they possibly use the carpark for possible expansion? Make a multi-level carpark on the left half, with the right half used for Hotel V and possibly something else (like a CityWalk style area for example)

But the area on the right half of the park is very unlikely to be used, due to flood risk as well as being close to homes. IIRC amusement rides cannot be within 85m of housing.

1. I’m sure the actual law is much more complicated than ‘85 meters’, and takes things like sight lines & sound/sound barriers into account, both of which would be pretty hard to accomodate on a hypercoaster built 130m away from residential area.

2. That plot of land (or, a portion of it) already has detailed plans, with no mention of any additional attractions, let alone a hypercoaster built into a hotel like you’re suggesting (which, by the way, would make the price for said hypercoaster skyrocket).

3. Even if they were able to skirt past the laws & drastically change their plans enough to accommodate what you’re proposing, it’s already been quite clearly outlined in here that an expansion of the park wouldn’t work in that area, as it’d create a massive dead end beginning in Kids WB.

4. Disregarding that also (say they build a massive bridge/transportation ride over the parking lot or whatever, if we’re being unrealistic we may as well go the whole way), following an ejector-focused, out-and-back hypercoaster up with an ejector-focused, out-and-back hypercoaster is clearly not that smart. There are so many more ride models that’d fit MW much better than that.

5. For the last time now, let’s disregard that too & say MW knows much more than we do, and there’s somehow a massive untapped market for a Gold Coast theme park with 2 very similar hypercoasters, all other quarrels don’t exist, and they’re ready to go ahead with your pipe dream project of a Hyperion clone built into a hotel on the opposite side of the park to anything that’s comparable in thrill level. What does SurfRider’s relocation have to do with it anymore?

No attraction will ever be added closer to Kopps Rd for two reasons - proximity to residences, and that whole area is a major flood point.

Back on the Flash topic, interesting theme for something that's not too fast in reality. Is there a reason they won't use the Titans? Licensing? Could theme it to Raven, Nightwing or Beast Boy.

I mean, Movie World consistently themes their new attractions to the latest WB blockbuster, and The Flash just came out a few weeks ago before this announcement. So I'd say that's the thinking behind it.

With WOO, they're timing it well with the movie release. Flash, way behind - even if they were planning a December opening.

Timing it well with the Part Two release. There'll be a delay. It's Village. When there's a will, there's a way.

I agree but don't think it matters all that much in the long-term. It's smart on their behalf to tie attractions to IPs that can endure over time. Was Green Lantern a colossal failure? Yes. Is the coaster still popular? When it's open and not actively trying to kill its riders, yes. Scooby is still one of the most popular and beloved attractions at the park, yet the people to whom the target audience was aged at in 2002 are now having their own kids who  want to ride it 20 years later.

Not sure if it’s been said already but the station platforms have been installed on flash. No paths going up to them yet but there is a small steel fence around the platform’s so nobody could fall off. Exactly what surf rider had. The weird thing is the platforms are still blue

Yellow track pieces for Flash have shown up on sight, with scaffolding now going up around the rides loading platforms. Here are also some more HD photos of the current vertical support and how close they get to Superman. The kinetic energy as well as the appearance of this area once Flash and WoO are done will be amazing.

All of the track has now been installed. So why will it another 9 months before the ride opens! Was the rides move such a last minute decision and the timeline for the sculptures/theming to be made that long that it’s just going to take that long.

We could potentially have a finished and working ride just sat there for 7-8 months (once commissioning is done) while they wait for theming to arrive.

Or are they waiting on parts for the actual ride, so they’ve installed the track now while they can and then we’ll see very little progress while they wait for whatever it is to arrive.

It wasn't a last min decision, it's been planned for awhile.

I don't think theres a chance they are simply choosing not to operate it while waiting for theming, it must need parts and/or Intamin to come out and recommission the ride.
